[Bug 404394] Re: kvm-84: virtio on qcow2 broken (regression)

2009-11-04 Thread Mathias Gug
Tested the hardy-backport patch and it fixes my issue. I can now run
successful installs of karmic under a qcow2+virtio guest while the
current version of kvm in hardy-backport fails.

[Bug 474482] [NEW] Ub 9.10 GRUB 2 failed to load new kernel

2009-11-04 Thread nicepat
Public bug reported:

I installed Ubuntu 9.10 released version from the ubuntu.com, and this is fresh
installation with the default setting (English)

>kernel.org. (2.6.31.5)
According to the document w/ GRUB 2 in 9.10, the kernel compilation has been
chanced. I followed new steps, but new kernel loading failed.

I post my steps that I used to do in 9.04 or earlier version.

1. cd
2. make defconfig
3. make xconfig
4. make -j4
5. make modules_install
6. make install
7. mkinitramfs -o /boot/initrd.img-2.6.31.5 2.6.31.5

After this, I see the new kernel image 2.6.31.5.
8. update-grub

This is new change for 9.10, and make sure that /boot/grub/grub.cfg has
been updated with the correct information.
