[Bug 68158] Re: Firefox 2.0

2006-11-08 Thread Bruce Cowan
May I remind you of the Code of Conduct -
http://www.ubuntu.com/community/conduct, specifically the "Be
respectful" part.

Arguements such as this should be kept to the forums, not bug reports.

Nothing is forcing you to use Ubuntu, if you don't like the fact that
LTS doesn't mean new software, then don't use it.

Of course if you really wanted this, you could build firefox 2.0
yourself with a different package name (firefox2). The only person who
has the obigation to fix a "bug" is yourself -
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=etiquette.html

Following on from what Martin said, I notice that Breezy now has the 1.5
branch of Firefox, but that was for security reasons.

To be honest, Firefox 2.0 isn't much upon 1.5 anyway.

[Bug 68908] Re: New version available

2006-11-01 Thread Bruce Cowan
I did a compile of this on edgy AMD64, it required building sdlperl from
Debian unstable. I got the source from MoM. Other from that, it works
fine. I may attach a debdiff later.

[Bug 51631] Re: Please backport OpenOffice 2.0.3 to Dapper

2006-10-28 Thread Bruce Cowan
This is not a security issue, as the security fix was backported to
2.0.2 - openoffice.org (2.0.2-2ubuntu12.1) dapper-security; urgency=low

  * Add patch to fix a potential buffer overflow in the xml to utf-8
converter. CVE-2006-3117.
  * Add patch from upstream to fix macro handling security bug; it was
possible to embed macros in documents without OOo seeing them and
executing them without any user interaction. CVE-2006-2198.
  * Add patch from upstream to disable Java applets feature because it's
possible to write Java applets breaking out of the sandbox.
CVE-2006-2199.

[Bug 52050] Re: gaim 2.0 beta 3

2006-10-27 Thread Bruce Cowan
I don't think having beta software in a relatively stable distribution
such as Dapper is a good idea. Once it becomes 2.0, mabye it could be
backported (provided that is before Edgy is released).
