[Bug 328076] [NEW] Please backport gebabbel 0.4 from Jaunty to Intrepid

2009-02-11 Thread Hanno Stock (hefe_bia)
Public bug reported:

"Gebabbel is a Qt4 Frontend for the famous gpsbabel, a tool to convert
GPS file formats back and forth. Gebabbel wraps the complexity of
gpsbabel in a (hopefully) easy to use graphical user interface. "

Builds in prevu without changes. Tested installation and usage.

[Bug 191077] Re: please backport vinagre VNC client for GNOME desktop (it is already included in Ubuntu 8.04 main/CD)

2008-03-16 Thread Hanno Stock
Thanks for your feedback, Noel.

gtk-vnc is a no source change backport from hardy, so all patches from hardy
are included.
Vinagre was built, taking the sources from the hardy package (including the
patches applied) and reversing only the changes introduced in revision 145 of
the upstream SVN repository.
So yes, all patches from the hardy version should be in the backport, too.

[Bug 191077] Re: please backport vinagre VNC client for GNOME desktop (it is already included in Ubuntu 8.04 main/CD)

2008-03-09 Thread Hanno Stock
I have made the following changes to remove the dependency on the newer
glib version:

  * Removed dependencies on GIO and glib 2.15
- removed changes from SVN revision 145:
- configure.ac,
- src/vinagre-main.c,
- src/vinagre-connection.c
- src/vinagre-commands.c: Use gio instead of gnome-vfs.
- removed dependency on function g_strcmp0 in src/vinagre-connection.c
  * Lowered requirement for glib to 2.11 in debian/control.in
  * Added libgnomevfs2-dev as a build dependency

Debdiff attached.

Package built with prevu and tested:
  - accessing a vnc server by invoking vnc:// url from browser
  - accessing a vnc server by browsing through avahi
  - accessing a vnc server manually entering the address
  - fullscreen mode

[Bug 199832] Re: [backport-request] Please backport glib2.0 2.15.6 from hardy

2008-03-08 Thread Hanno Stock
I don't have much experience on how stable glib is between releases
however the 2.15.6 release announcement states that 2.15 and 2.16 will
be backwards compatible to 2.14. The new releases only add new features.

"GLib 2.16 will be source and binary compatible with
the GLib 2.14 series. The new API in GLib should be
stable at this point; but there may still be
incompatibilities between this release and the final
2.16 release."

http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-announce-list/2008-February/msg00066.html

However I agree that backporting such a core library might be a bad
idea.

[Bug 199832] [NEW] [backport-request] Please backport glib2.0 2.15.6 from hardy

2008-03-08 Thread Hanno Stock
Public bug reported:

glib2.0 2.15 adds the GIO framework, which is needed for the VINAGRE VNC
client.

>From the changelog (see
http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/g/glib2.0/glib2.0_2.15.6-0ubuntu3/changelog)
I don't see any mentioning of API/ABI changes other than the addition of
the new features.

I have built the hardy version on my gutsy system and have it installed
for over a week now, having found no issues so far.

The backport of vinagre depends on this.

2008-02-27 Thread Hanno Stock
Both dependencies build without source change in prevu.
Also vinagre itself builds without source change in prevu.

However upgrading glib to a newer version gives me a little headaches,
because it is used by quite a lot of programs.

I have attached the logs from prevu. (Only the last lines for glib2.0
since I forgot to "tee")
