[Bug 1076981] Re: Please backport modemmanager 0.6.0.0.really-0ubuntu1 (main) from quantal
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017. See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested in discussing it any more. But if you are then please upgrade to the latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling us which new version it is in. ** Changed in: precise-backports Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Backporters, which is subscribed to Precise Backports. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1076981 Title: Please backport modemmanager 0.6.0.0.really-0ubuntu1 (main) from quantal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/precise-backports/+bug/1076981/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-backports mailing list ubuntu-backports@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-backports
[Bug 1076981] Re: Please backport modemmanager 0.6.0.0.really-0ubuntu1 (main) from quantal
Well, what you can do in that case is to download the modemmanager package from here first: http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/modemmanager (i386 or amd64). Then if the test fails, you will be able to revert by running in a terminal "dpkg -i modemmanager_xxx.deb" without a network connection. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Backporters, which is subscribed to Precise Backports. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1076981 Title: Please backport modemmanager 0.6.0.0.really-0ubuntu1 (main) from quantal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/precise-backports/+bug/1076981/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-backports mailing list ubuntu-backports@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-backports
Re: [Bug 1076981] Re: Please backport modemmanager 0.6.0.0.really-0ubuntu1 (main) from quantal
I don't think I have the test systems or skills necessary to be able to understand and test this adequately (hence my reliance solely on LTS-tested versions). Unfortunately I am also fully dependent on modemmanager working (no wifi), so unless I can fully revert to a pre-test state without internet connectivity, I am afraid I will be pretty useless here. Meantime, I will try to get hold of a test system but it might take quite a while. Would anyone out there be able to help out with the required tests please? On 20/08/14 01:21, Marius B. Please look at the documentation: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu#Adding_PPAs There is a tool called ppa-purge to remove a ppa with its packages. As this is a backport of only modemmanager, it is not very likely that it will affect other types of connections like wifi.

Hi Marius - Truly appreciate your efforts looking into this! I'd love to help out but will need guidance to proceed to test this as I'm no expert and haven't done so before, sorry. Just let me know how - particularly if I can fully restore the system back to its current state after, as its my only main working system I'm dependent on. (Also if network operation fails, how do I revert?) On 18/08/14 06:58, Marius B.
