2018-02-28 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for reporting.

I'm marking this as fixed since the upcoming 18.04 will ship with the
latest version of rkhunter. However, I've also marked the Xenial- and
trusty-backport projects as affected (code names for 16.04 and 14.04,
respectively). Please see

information on backports.

[Bug 1407070] [NEW] Please backport rkhunter 1.4.2-0.4 (universe) from vivid

2015-01-02 Thread Andy Barnes
Public bug reported:

Please backport rkhunter 1.4.2-0.4 (universe) from vivid to utopic.

Reason for the backport:

As described https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rkhunter/+bug/1303564
rkhunter have removed the i18n file from sourceforge so every single day
rkhunter reports the system has been compromised because it can't update this
file. The upstream solution is to update to 1.4.2 but we have production 12.04
LTS systems where this is not an option.

Testing:

Mark off items in the checklist [X] as you test them, but please leave the
checklist so that backporters can quickly evaluate the state of testing.

You can test-build the backport in your PPA with backportpackage:
$ backportpackage -u ppa:lp username/ppa name -s vivid -d utopic rkhunter

* utopic:
[ ] Package builds without modification
[ ] rkhunter installs cleanly and runs

Reverse dependencies:
=
The following reverse-dependencies need to be tested against the new version of
rkhunter. For reverse-build-dependencies (-Indep), please test that the package
still builds against the new rkhunter. For reverse-dependencies, please test
that the version of the package currently in the release still works with the
new rkhunter installed. Reverse- Recommends, Suggests, and Enhances don't need
to be tested, and are listed for completeness-sake.

The bug you mentioned seems to have a minimal patch attached that fixes
the problem.

This is much better suited as a stable release update instead of a backport:

[Bug 1095056] [NEW] Please backport rkhunter 1.4.0-2 (universe) from raring

2013-01-01 Thread KlausHoller
Public bug reported:

Please backport rkhunter 1.4.0-2 (universe) from raring to precise,
quantal.

Reason for the backport:

The rkhunter version 1.3.8 which is included in precise can't be configured
in a way to support the symlink /dev/.initramfs pointing to /run/initramfs,
it always causes annoying false positive warnings,
see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rkhunter/+bug/883324 for details.
Especially for precise backporting the 1.4.0-2 version seems to be a good idea,
as
precise is an LTS release and thus likely used on servers for a longer time
period.

Testing:

Mark off items in the checklist [X] as you test them, but please leave the
checklist so that backporters can quickly evaluate the state of testing.

You can test-build the backport in your PPA with backportpackage:
$ backportpackage -u ppa:lp username/ppa name -s raring -d precise rkhunter

[Bug 84811] Rkhunter : Please backport Rootkit Hunter from Feisty to Edgy

2007-02-12 Thread lotusleaf
Public bug reported:

Please backport rkhunter from feisty version 1.2.9 to Edgy.

It's important to have the latest version of this utility in Edgy for
security.

Also, version 1.2.8 in Edgy gives an error now when one tries to update
it from the command line via:

sudo rkhunter --update

Mirrorfile /var/lib/rkhunter/db/mirrors.dat rotated
Using mirror http://rkhunter.sourceforge.net
[DB] Mirror file : ERROR
Fatal error: Problem while fetching file

I read on LinuxQuestions.org about a new developer for Rkhunter
replacing the old, but I haven't confirmed this, does the --update
command in 1.2.9 in Feisty work? Regardless, please backport this small
but useful security application, thanks.
