Re: [Ubuntu-BD] I need urgent suggestion

2010-02-01 Thread Ovro Niil
*About the Browser:*

Well... Ubuntu comes with the renowned browser Mozilla Firefox. So I am
hoping that you are using FireFox (as you mentioned Browser of ubuntu).
First of all check whether the browser is in offline. For this in Firefox,
go to *File* menu. Most probably you'll find a tick mark beside the *Work
Offline* option. Just remove that tick mark by clicking it.

*About the Sound:*

By default the volume of Ubuntu is muted. To unmute the volume click the
volume from the upper right corner of the top panel (like the system tray in
Windows). The volume icon looks like a mike. After clicking that you will
find the option to increase the volume.

*For the first time user:
*
If you are the first time Ubuntu user, you probably don't know how to
install additional codecs to watch and hear all types of multimedia file.
Moreover you may not know how to configure your ubuntu. For that reason, I
think it would be better for you to visit this link.

And welcome to the community.

Dear Paul,

It may be the service of GP is becoming worse day by day. However, a little
more information that i would like to include. If i want to get connect to
internet via GP modem from Dhanmondi, sometime I have to dial 10 or even
more times but if i want to connect to internet from other places like
Agargaon or Cantonment, I just have to dial once or twice. It may be there
are more number of people using GP modem from dhanmondi then other places
and GP could not support that number of people. I am sure there are some
member who are well known regarding this GP internet, can gave us little
more info or maybe it is a bug of new Ubuntu.

Hello everyone,

Let me share something regarding using GP modem. Without any doubt GP is the
worst Internet service provider. However, when i tried to get connect
sometimes it appear it connected, true fact is, it is not actually
connected. To view whether it is connected or not i have to ping somewhere.

Suppose if I ping to yahoo.com, sometimes it shows the following message.
ping: unknown host yahoo.com

then I have to disconnect and dial again until I got a response from
yahoo.com

Please detail your problem with the browser. The default browser shipped
with Ubuntu is Firefox. Whats wrong with it?

You might need to install certain codecs to play certain media files. When
connected to the internet, try to open a media file. If needed, the player
will prompt to search for the codecs. Follow along and it'll be
automatically installed. That should solve the problem with sounds.
