[Bug 112692] Feisty: Rhythmbox visualizer plugin does not work with xserver-xorg-video-intel driver

2007-05-05 Thread Robert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

The visualization plugin appears to work fine with the xserver-xorg-
video-i810 video driver in XUbuntu Feisty. (The Desktop option doesn't
seem to work, but I think that's unrelated.)

When using the xserver-xorg-video-intel driver instead, the
visualization plugin does not work. It will show the bottom menu options
for vizualisation, but show the playlist screen with no graphics, or it
Rhythmbox will just exit. If it doesn't exit and I click on the
Fullscreen option, it exits or crashes.

[Bug 112699] Bad handling of SSh and other protocols for remote sites

2007-05-05 Thread Daniel Stiner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bluefish

When using a SSH url for a project, an alternate branch is made with
blank folders, a folder named ssh:, and shows multiple copies of any
file open, from different folders even, in the files side-pane, etc. The
url was just copied from a (working) remote SSH connection in Nautilus.
I have no idea how to fix this, and Bluefish sort-of works still, but it
can be very annoying and confusing at times.

[Bug 112698] DVB-T drivers and Webcam drivers incompatible

2007-05-05 Thread Carlos Blanquer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20

DEVICES
Webcam: Logitech Quickcam
DVB-T PCI card: Hauppauge HVR-1300

PROBLEM SUMMARY===
Both devices cannot be both enabled on 7.04
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
1. at 7.04 install the webcam is automatically recogniseed and works, so does
the TV card but the DVB-T module is not loaded
2. compile and load DVB-T module, results into DVB-T functionality active
(Kaffeine) but both /dev/video0 and /dev/video1 are linked to the TV card. Also
/dev/dvb/adapter0 is created. However the webcam disappears and instead analog
circuits of the TV card are selected/selectable (ekiga).
3. compile and load webcam driver gspcav (version 20070426 and later retried
with version 20070110) produces an error at compilation and thus cannot load.
No webcam enabled. (I would have expected a new /dev/video2 or even any of the
former to be replaced by the webcam).

[Bug 112701] i810 video driver does not detect video modes

2007-05-05 Thread Robert
Public bug reported:

In XUbuntu Feisty, when checking Settings | Display Settings, when using
the xserver-xorg-video-i810 driver, only two modes are detected on my
Intel 915GM video card (thinkPad Z60m): [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL
PROTECTED] No
800x600 or 640x480 modes.

The modes were manually added to xorg.conf file, e.g.

  SubSection Display
  Depth 24
  Modes 3584x769 1920x1440 1600x1200 1472x770 1
280x1024 1280x800 1024x768 800x600 640x480 512x771 400x772
  EndSubSection

but still they are not detected.

When I switch to the intel driver xserver-xorg-video-intel, the other
modes show up as options in Display Settings. However, choosing them
causes the X Server to stop and gdm to restart back in the original
mode.

[Bug 112702] vmware-server : guest can't access server and vis-versa

2007-05-05 Thread Simon Schmidig
Public bug reported:

I had install the vmware-server (amd64/feisty) from the commercial source.
When I create guests with a brighten network interface, I can ping from the
guest to the server or to a other host in the local network. I can also ping
from the server to the guest ip.
But I can't access http://192.168.100.4 (server ip) form the guest. Windows XP
guest can see the other hosts of the local network but not the samba share of
the server. When I try on the server the samba command:
# [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ smbclient -L terminal
# protocol negotiation failed
But when I try the same command line from a other host in the local network get
a access to the guest.
The server is also a Samba PDC server.

[Bug 8556] Re: sudo password prompt could be clearer

2007-05-05 Thread Kurt Lloyd
I'm not sure if what you (eolo999) meant is what I'm thinking as I read
this thread. What I'm thinking is that the prompt should explicity
indicate which password is being asked for. So if the username is
foobar then the prompt should be something like:

$ sudo /bin/ksh
'foobar' password:

This idea is also in one of Marco Rodrigues' suggestions in his first
post.

[Bug 68405] I've seen this problem as well

2007-05-05 Thread Greg Turnquist
When I installed using this mechanism, I had the same problem with LILO
and had to install it manually. It appears that the installation shell
uses a terminal mode called BRTERM. The LILO post-installation script
doesn't like that and raises an error after installing everything
correctly. This is interpreted by the installation script as a failure
on LILO.

[Bug 84880] Re: firefox uploads files with wrong mimetype

2007-05-05 Thread Rafa
I confirm the issue of wrong MIME type being sent by firefox.

I'm currently setting up an intranet server for a research group. I have
installed a
PDF manager (Librarian) and am currently trying to populate the database. Upon
the upload of the PDF files, I was getting an error message for incorrect MIME
type
of the files. I hacked the php code to find out what the sent MIME type was,
and got:
application/binary instead of the expected application/pdf.

This results in the file not being recognized by the program as a PDF, thus
failure
to upload on the site.

At first I thought it was a problem with my php.ini configuration, and tweaked
all
I could find on the matter without results. Then I came across this bug
description
and actually confirmed that it is likely to be a firefox issue, and not an
apache2/php/pdf or whatnot.

The PDF files upload without the shadow of a problem using konqueror.

My server configuration is:
Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn i386
Apache2
PHP5

Librarian PDF manager (http://bioinformatics.org/librarian/)

My client:
Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn i386

The web browser:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20061201
Firefox/2.0.0.3 (Ubuntu-feisty)

All PDF files tested came up with the wrong MIME using firefox, none have yet
given me problems using konqueror.

For many required to submit their work by uploading PDF files on servers that
use MIME type control, this issue might be more than an annoyance.

I often write Perl, but I do not observe this behaviour. Is it still
reproducible with the bluefish versions in Ubuntu?

[Bug 111315] Re: windows appear black when several applications are working

2007-05-05 Thread zeddock
Same here.
Desktop Effects are turned on for a Dell Latitude D800
nVidia GeForce 4200 Go Ti AGP8
Many have suggested that this is a nVidia problem, but I didn't see it when the
OS was windows.

Please try to get this fixed?

Thanx!
zeddock

[Bug 102648] Re: HP TC4400 Tablet PC suspend and hibernate problems

2007-05-05 Thread khul

I had the same problem, but managed to get s2ram to work with the following
work-around:

I re-compiled the kernel, selecting module compilation for Mouse
interface and AT keyboard (I first removed if EMBEDDED from
drivers/Kconfig and drivers/keyboard/Kconfig).

I added a file /usr/local/sbin/nap, containing

#/bin/bash
rmmod i8042
s2ram -f
modprobe i8042

and modified /etc/acpi/lid.sh to contain only

#!/bin/bash
grep -q closed /proc/acpi/button/lid/*/state
if [ $? = 0 ]
then
 /usr/local/sbin/nap
fi

This seems to work. Closing lid suspends, power button after opening lid
resumes.

2007-05-05 Thread Markus Thielmann
Workaround: Edit

Find section Package: perl-modules, Line Conflicts:.
Change libnet-perl (= 1:1.19-3) to libnet-perl (= 1.19-3)

Now you're able to install libnet-perl via sudo apt-get install libnet-
perl.
