[Bug 298430] [NEW] Bluetooth in Ibex has inconsistent behaviour
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bluetooth RELATED BUGS - This bug is possibly related - but not the same as - #283064, #292030 and others mentioning problems in connecting devices to computer via bluetooth. TESTING - This bug has been verified on two machines, both of them running on Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10 x64 (one with AMD and one with Intel chipsets), connecting with different BlueTooth adapters to different devices (Nokia 5300 and PalmOne Tungsten T5). DESCRIPTION - Bluetooth adapter is properly recognised in all cases, and I can access the preference tab and configure various parameters. There are then a number of possibilities on different stages of process: 1) Visibility: while the computer is consistently always visible to the devices, the devices are visible to the computer only at times. 2) Pairing: pairing never works when launched from the computer. It *sometimes* works when initiated from the device. Once the device is in the list of known devices, pairing *never happens*, even if I remove the computer from the list of paired items on the device. 3) Sending files (via OBEX push). This has *never* happened, in either way. 4) Browsing files on the device from the computer: this has happened only once and I could not reproduce the behaviour although I tried various times. The only time I succeded, I managed to download 2 megs of pics from the telephone at about 50 K/s. After that, I closed the nautilus windows with the browsed directory and I could not reopen it anymore. COMMON ERROR MESSAGES - (Translated back into English from i18n): 1) When trying to browse the files on the device: It is impossible to show obex://[my-id-device-here]/ - Error: connexion to the device lost - Choose another viewer(?) and retry. 2) When trying to send files to the device: An error has occurred: org.openobex.Error.Cancelled I am positive the device are OK as I can exchange files and data between them without problems. I am positive the BT adapters work as they work when attached to XP machines. ** Affects: bluez (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Bluetooth in Ibex has inconsistent behaviour https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298430 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 292619] Re: Kernel panic on boot if SMP (ASUS M3A-H/HDMI)
After a lot of grief (my root partition was too small, so I had to resize the and move the physical partitions with gparted, but they were raided and afterwards the resized ones needed to be reconfigured for raid - and then the file system was recognised as being the wrong size on those partitions, but to resize the filesystem of root I had to copy it to the tmp partition, mount it front there and then fix the root partition filesystem etc.) I finally managed to sort out the problem above and install the upstream kernel. [Bug 259467] Re: fdisk version in dapper ppc is too old
mac-fdisk, gnu-fdisk and util-linux fdisk are 3 separate pieces of software. The versions of mac-fdisk currently in Dapper, Gutsy, Hardy and Intrepid are all based on the same upstream source version (which will all return 0.4a2 when you run fdisk -v). You probably see differences in featureset between Dapper/Hardy because you're not running the same fdisk at all (ie, you might be running mac-fdisk in Dapper and gnu-fdisk in Hardy). You can fix this by installing which ever one you want. As I said before, updating something as basic as util-linux to provide a version of fdisk with a slightly higher version number will not happen in a stable release, so I'm closing this bug report. Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it. Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally, in the report please include: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System - About Ubuntu. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by checking in Synaptic. 3) What happened and what you expected to happen. The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures . Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make your bug report much more complete. [Bug 272606] Re: ABNT2 Numpad Keyboard keys misbehaving
I just installed Intrepid on a Dell Latitude 120L laptop with ABNT2 keyboard, so I have only one 'dot' key, which I guess maps to the regular dot key on standard keyboards, and I can confirm that the 'dot' inputs a comma with xkb-data-1.3-2ubuntu4.1. Just want to point out that the new 180.06 driver is set to support a small subset of the NVidia cards which are experiencing this bug. In particular, GeForce 6xxx and newer NVIDIA GPUs. Users with older cards (i.e. my GeForce FX Go) will need to stick with the 173.14 driver.
