[Bug 567480]

2011-05-23 Thread David Ward
@marinus: Until this patch is accepted and rolled into an automatic
nightly build, you have to compile a custom version of Lightning that
includes this patch. This could be an involved process if you have not
done it before; you need to download the latest Thunderbird
3.1/Lightning 1.0 (or comm-1.9.2) source code from the Mercurial
version control system; apply the patch from this bug report to the
source code; configure the build system for Lightning; run the build;
and finally install the .xpi file that is created. See
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Build_Documentation

[Bug 741825] Re: ATI controllers [1002:4383] and [1002:4383] (rev 40): Intermittent record and jack sense failure

2011-05-23 Thread Luke Yelavich
** Description changed:

Sometimes, but not always, when starting a recording stream through this
HDA controller, the recording stream is not successfully started.
Instead, the controller generates a large amount of interrupts (~40 000
interrupts per second). After this has happened, jack sense (i e
unsolicited events from the codec) stops working until the next system
  reboot.

  === Similar bugs ===
  Here are some possible duplicates:
  Bug #743266 (HP Pavilion dv7)
  Bug #764062 (Lenovo x120e)
  Bug #775245 (Lenovo x100e)
  Bug #770555 (Asus 1215T)
  Bug #755847 (HP Pavilion DV6-1210SA)

  Bug #780532 Toshiba Satellite L645D
  Bug #781240 ASUS 1215T
Bug #775788 Acer Aspire One 522
+ Bug #787281 MSI 880GM-P51 (MS-7623)

These controllers are affected: ATI [1002:4383] and ATI [1002:4383] (rev
  40)

  === Checking for duplicate ===
A bug is a duplicate of this if at some point all of the following conditions
are fulfilled:

  1) The PCI controller ID (as checked with lspci -vvnn) is ATI [1002:4383]
and ATI [1002:4383] (rev 40)
  2) Jack sense is not working - i e, you still have sound from either internal
speakers or headphones, but it remains the way it was when the system was last
rebooted and does not change on plug/unplug.
  3) Recording is not working - there is no recording stream
  4) When you're trying to record, you're instead seeing massive interrupts (
10.000 per second) for hda_intel, i e, the output of cat /proc/interrupts |
grep hda_intel is increasing rapidly while unsuccessfully recording.

  === Investigation ===
By inserting some printk's into the kernel code I've traced down the
interrupt problem to the recording stream returning a FIFO error (SD0STS
returns 0x28). The interrupt service routine acknowledges this error but does
not do anything to counteract the root cause to the problem, so it appears
again and again.
Restarting the stream does not seem to help.

I have seen this bug on
  1) 2.6.35
  2) 2.6.38-rc8 mainline kernel build
  3) 2.6.35 + daily snapshot of ALSA HDA modules

I have seen it both with and without fglrx.

[Bug 719764] Re: Tables in RTF rendered badly-all colors set to black

2011-05-23 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
ibidem, no misunderstanding exists. We focus on the problem and the
software so that all software that perform similar functions (in this
case AbiWord, LibreOffice, and WINE) can benefit.

This issue is confirmed in Ubuntu 11.04, AbiWord via the Terminal:

cd ~/Desktop wget
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/abiword/+bug/719764/+attachment/2133267/+files/lab4.tar.bz2
 file-roller -h lab4.tar.bz2 cd lab4 abiword lab4.rtf

notice certain rows in the table are black. However, in Word 2003 via
WINE and LibreOffice Writer the rows are gray.

[Bug 9449] Re: the clock calendar should use tooltips on events

2011-05-23 Thread Ron Lewkowicz
Can anyone confirm whether or not this is an issue in Natty?

In Natty using gnome I no longer have any tasks or appointments show up
when I click on the clock applet. Totally sucks. When you double click
on a date in the clock applet calendar it also opens up evolution on the
wrong date. One day earlier than the day you double clicked on.

[Bug 734253] Re: very hard to distinguish/select text documents in the expose window spread

2011-05-23 Thread Bazon
Added this to 100 paper cuts, because fixing this bug is easy as
described in #11:

Just change the default setting to enable the text and the scale-addons
compiz-plugins and set the scale addons plugin to work on all windows.
that's it!

Thanks for the bug report. Did you have fully working audio in Ubuntu
10.10? Could you also get a log from pulseaudio, as instructed at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log and attach the file to this bug?

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 775068] Re: [ThinkPad Edge 14] System randomly locks up and needs to be power-cycled

2011-05-23 Thread Michael Hueschen
@ Chris

I have the same Thinkpad, except mine has a 64 bit processor, and I am
running 64 bit Natty. I believe the other hardware is very similar, but
I could be mistaken. I posted because I thought it might be helpful to
know that the 64-bit version of the computer could run Natty when the
x86 couldn't. (hopefully I didn't just add to the confusion)

[Bug 289467] Re: Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM support

2011-05-23 Thread Will
As far as I can tell, the bug about display not being correct (as reported by
suprit and chester) is in no way related to ddccontrol.
The original bug (missing configuration for a given monitor in the ddccontrol
db) might still be present, since none of the maintainers of the project have
time to do the grunt work of adding them.
But maybe I am missing something. For example I don't know if the failed to
read EDID error is due to ddccontrol, or to a problem in some kernel module.

[Bug 787341] [NEW] Screensaver won't exit

2011-05-23 Thread Daedalus Prime
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi

I came back to my computer while the screensaver was running, moved the
mouse, and was prompted for my password. Then after entering my
password, the screensaver came back on and neither mouse movement nor
keystrokes would stop it. I was able to CTL-ALT-F2 to bring up a
console. I ran dmesg and noticed the following near the end:

[ 39.684336] Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 128x48

[Bug 787054] Re: omap3-x11 hwpack misrenders

2011-05-23 Thread Ricardo Salveti
Tested with latest omapfb available (http://gitweb.pingu.fi/?p=xf86
-video-omapfb.git;a=summary) and was still able to reproduce the issue.
While testing with Unity-2d the behavior is weird, as at the first
moment the display is fine, but then it seems that the Unity-2d is
redraw and then the error appears.

Once you remove the xserver-xorg-video-omap3 package (using omapfb) it
all works fine.

[Bug 782860] Re: Pulseaudio consumes approx 1.5MBps of network when it sees an Airport Express

2011-05-23 Thread Luke Yelavich
Yes, this is known by the pulseaudio upstream developers. Work needs to
be done on making the raop support code run more cleanly and less
crasy/flaky. The only real work-around at the moment is to
enable/disable the raop plugin in the config files for pulse, found in
/etc/pulse.

[Bug 767095] Re: 1 pixel icons in notification-area-applet when compiz is the windows manager

2011-05-23 Thread Gergely Fábián
Hi all,

I've been watching this bug on two computers (both are constantly updated
natties), and I have noticed that Skype icons appears after each second
restart. So at each odd restart it's invisible, but at each even restart
it's visible. I have seen checked, and it's not dependent on the login (I can
log out and in, but Skype will be still in the current state), but the
restart.
I haven't applied any other workaround.
I don't know whether this helps.

And to join tkoun... I have switched two machines to Natty that I'm
rarely using. The one that is the most used is still on Maverick, and I
won't upgrade it until this bug is fixed. If it won't be fixed (maybe
due to it's Invalidity or Low priority) then I may consider
switching to Debian or other distro. I have seen many new Ubuntu
versions at the beginning (even in alpha/beta), but this one with this
bug seems to be the worse (and I'm sorry, if I need to contact my
colleagues all day long by Skype, and I'm effectively unable to do that,
then how should I consider this bug?).

why not leave the dkms modules package for kernel 2.6.36 and add to

[Bug 622524] Re: See question; #122091; WNDA3100v2 still fails; ndiswrapper crashes system

2011-05-23 Thread JohnnyLeitrim
I have a similar problem. When I use ndiswrapper when my WNDA3100v2 is
plugged in, then lsusb hangs forever. Only a reboot can stop it (kill
-9 doesn't work). I've attached the output of strace, udevadm and dmesg
for lsusb, and in the dmesg file you can see that ndiswrapper is
reporting a bug in itself.

[Bug 786830] [NEW] Touchpad not detected on Gigabyte T1125N

2011-05-23 Thread daurnimator
Public bug reported:

Hello,

is there anybody who may help with an issue? Recently I bought a
Gigabyte T1125N subnote and tried to install several versions of Ubuntu
(10.04, 10.10 and finally 11.04). But with none of these attempts I had
success in getting the touchpad to work. Has anybody experienced similar
problems with such a notebook? Many thanks for supporting me.

Best regards,
Stefan

Don't worry checking, I've updated the patch for Oneiric to check if
both ~/.ecryptfs/auto-mount exists and ~/.ecryptfs/Private.mnt is set to
the home directory. That appears to be the method to check if the home
directory is fully encrypted.
