[Bug 832864] Re: pyside version 1.0.4-1 failed to build in oneiric
@ScottK: given where we are in the release cycle, doesn't it make more sense to try to fix the immediate problem rather than sync a bunch of new packages? debhelper is the most worrying one. The problem appears to be that phonon.so doesn't get built so there's nothing to install, and the d/python-pyside.phonon.install names a non- existent file. I'll look at the PPA to see if that's an easy fix. I actually see nothing in the build log that even references phonon.so until the install failure. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/832864 Title: pyside version 1.0.4-1 failed to build in oneiric To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pyside/+bug/832864/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 523796] Re: Startup list does not save changes randomly
I can confirm this! I am running a clean install of Ubuntu 11.04 64bit classic desktop, with all updates (31.8.2011). After adding a program to the Startup Applications everything looks good. After the first restart the set program starts up automatically as expected. But after that the ~/config/autostart folder is empty and on the second restart the set program does not start up anymore. In my case ~/.config/autostart folder was already owned by the username:username and the permissions were: drwx--. I changed the permissions to Drwxrwxrwx, but no effect. As a background, I am building a information Kiosk, so the Ubuntu is set to login automatically and the program I am trying to automatically launch at the startup is Chromium Browser. The command I'm using in Startup Applications is: /usr/bin/chromium-browser --kiosk http://www.amusa.fi/ruutu/etela-karjala; WORKAROUND To stop the Startup Application setting from disappearing I used the following procedure. This is not a fix, but I am able to live with this workaround: 1. Set the Startup Application normally [in my case chromium-browser] 2. Set the permissions of ~/.config/autostart folder to: dr-xr-xr-x (chmod 555 autostart) 3. Set the permissions of ~/.config/autostart/chromium-browser.desktop to : -r--r--r-- (chmod 444 filename) [chromium-browser.desktop is the startup settings file the application I want to startup] This workaround seems to work for me. Naturally I'm now unable to add more Startup Applications... -Jukka- -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/523796 Title: Startup list does not save changes randomly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/523796/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 822356] Re: Linux Mint 11 install repaint issue
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We need some more information from you before we can start working on this bug. Please run the following command which will attach necessary information: apport-collect 822356 if you are using Karmic Koala (9.10) or newer, or apport-collect -p linux-image-`uname -r` BUGNUMBER if you are using Hardy Heron (8.04) Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository with 'sudo apt-get install python- launchpadlib'. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to Change Non-Private data as it will be adding information to your bug report. If you are using an older release or cannot use apport please at least add the following information (pay attention to lspci's additional options): First run the following commands: 1) uname -a uname-a.log 2) dmesg dmesg.log 3) sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log 4) cat /proc/version_signature version.log then attach the files separately to the bug report (not pasted into comments or tar/zip-ed). [Bug 838091] [NEW] should link fsck.ntfs - ntfsfix/ntfsck
Public bug reported: I've got a dualboot laptop, and the installer has created fstab entries for the NTFS partitions. But now oneiric is complaining that it can't mount them, and prompts me on boot what to do about it. Skipping or ignoring the error makes the boot complete, and boot.log reveals that it fails due to fsck.ntfs being missing. So, ntfs-3g should symlink fsck.ntfs to ntfsfix or ntfsck, though the latter fails to check my partitions, so maybe ntfsfix would be better. ** Affects: ntfs-3g (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/838091 Title: should link fsck.ntfs - ntfsfix/ntfsck To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ntfs-3g/+bug/838091/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 822605] Re: [dash] View photos in the dash launches default image viewer instead of shotwell
I gave it some of my deepest thoughts ;-), and the more I think of this, the more I dislike the hardcoding - and not only because I'm a happy user of f-spot myself. :-) There is a way to specify preferred applications: go to the system settings - system information (I'm translating from Italian, I'm not sure if the labels are like this in English) - preferred applications There I can set shotwell as my preferred photo viewer and everything works consequently. So I believe there is no bug here. It's undeniable that the preferred apps it's very hard to find, but that's an issue which should be addressed by the system settings application, IMO. Florian, I'm closing this bug as invalid for unity-2d and to mark it as affecting the system settings (opinion). ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #647049 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=647049 ** Also affects: gnome-control-center via https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=647049 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Changed in: unity-2d Status: In Progress = Invalid ** Changed in: unity-2d (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/822605 Title: [dash] View photos in the dash launches default image viewer instead of shotwell To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-control-center/+bug/822605/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 836480] Re: CPU fan runs very very fast ubuntu 11.10 dell xpsl702x
Hi Amit, It'll be helpful if you could help us narrow down between which two kernels this regression was introduced. You commented, Natty was ok. Which specific Natty kernel version were you using (look at the output of `uname -a` from a Terminal)? I'd then suggest trying some kernels in between the Natty kernel you were using and the current 3.0.0-9.14 Oneiric kernel. I've pasted some links below for reference to some of the earlier Oneiric kernels for you to try. If the issue exists in the earliest 3.0-1.0 Oneiric kernel, you won't need to test any further as that indicates it's a regression between the latest Natty Kernel and the earliest Oneiric kernel and we'll have to bisect with the mainline builds. But try testing out the following and let us know your results: (3.0-0.1 was rebased on upstream v3.0-rc1) https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/amd64/linux-headers-3.0-0-generic/3.0-0.1 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/amd64/linux-image-3.0-0-generic/3.0-0.1 (3.0-1.2 was rebased on upstream v3.0-r3) https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/amd64/linux-headers-3.0-1-generic/3.0-1.2 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/amd64/linux-image-3.0-1-generic/3.0-1.2 (3.0-2.3 was rebased on upstream v3.0-rc4) https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/amd64/linux-headers-3.0-2-generic/3.0-2.3 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/amd64/linux-image-3.0-2-generic/3.0-2.3 (3.0-3.4 was rebased on upstream v3.0-rc5) https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/amd64/linux-headers-3.0-3-generic/3.0-3.4 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/amd64/linux-image-3.0-3-generic/3.0-3.4 (3.0.0-5.6 was rebased on upstream v3.0-rc7) https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/amd64/linux-headers-3.0.0-5-generic/3.0.0-5.6 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/amd64/linux-image-3.0.0-5-generic/3.0.0-5.6 (3.0.0-7.8 was rebased on upstream v3.0 final) https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/amd64/linux-headers-3.0.0-7-generic/3.0.0-7.8 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/amd64/linux-image-3.0.0-7-generic/3.0.0-7.8 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/836480 Title: CPU fan runs very very fast ubuntu 11.10 dell xpsl702x To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/836480/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 601942] Re: Thunar doesn't clear 'metadata' when emtying trash
That isn’t a Kubuntu Bug it’s a thunar bug I'm always happy to see such counterproductive behavior. It'd be nice if you could elaborate a bit, otherwise we're going to continue playing ping-pong with this bug report, ad nauseam. Thanks. This metadata directory doesn't seem to be contained on the trash- directory specification (http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Specifications /trash-spec), so unless you prove me wrong, I think thunar works as expected. ** Also affects: digikam (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/601942 Title: Thunar doesn't clear 'metadata' when emtying trash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/digikam/+bug/601942/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
