[Bug 923876] Re: FR: Limit and clean-up kernel images and headers automatically in LTS
* debian/apt.conf.autoremove: don't include linux-image*, linux-restricted-modules*, and linux-ubuntu-modules* packages in the list to never be autoremoved. Aptitude in Precise and later (and earlier) carries a patch that potentially nullifies this change. [Bug 1103022] Re: 70-udev-acl.rules needs to put g+rw on /dev/kvm
This test case shows the bug in udev-acl.c. When udev-acl is called to add a user acl, it 1. gets the current acl 2. removes any acl for non-current user 3. adds acl for user 4. writes the result. Any existing group acl is kept. What this test case shows, is that in step 1 udev will get what looks like a group acl (for zero perms) - even though that was not an acl, it was just the group perms on the inode. Then in step 4, that acl gets written as an explicit acl. To test, compile the program, touch a file, look at the perms, run this program specifying the file as argument, and re-check the perms: 1. gcc -o acltest acltest.c -lacl 2. echo ab ab 3. chmod 700 ab 3. ls -l ab; getfacl ab 4. ./acltest ab 5. ls -l ab; getfacl ab An acl has been added to ab (indicated by '+' in ls output), which was not there before ** Attachment added: acltest.c https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udev/+bug/1103022/+attachment/3526573/+files/acltest.c -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1103022 Title: 70-udev-acl.rules needs to put g+rw on /dev/kvm To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udev/+bug/1103022/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1124230] [NEW] Language selector comes up after 12.04.2 rc candidate installation in english
Public bug reported: After installing the 20120213.1 alternate image in english, I log in and see the language selector come up telling me I have incomplete language support. I installed in english, with the system connected to the internet during the install. [Bug 606238] Re: synaptic touchpad not recognized on dell latitude e6510 and others
Hi Vince, Ok, I've tried setting two-finger scrolling in the System Config, and executed synclient FingerLow=5 FingerHigh=6, but despite I get *a very little bit* of scrolling (in some rare cases), this is not useful at all; most of the times I fail to scroll. Hi, you either have to : - enable two-finger-scrolling (and then two-finger scrolling should work correctly without further settings) - enable edge scrolling with synclient FingerLow=5 FingerHigh=6 You can try to lower the values of FingerLow/GingerHigh. I got the values straight from the kernel driver (I added some debug messages while trying to debug my touchpad's driver) bug there are probably many other ways to get them. Hi Vince, I'm answering from the bug report so everybody can see my results in a Vostro 3360. You're right about two-finger scrolling, it seems to work by default (synclient -l gets configured with FingerLow=12/FingerHigh=15). I figured out that it doesn't work _perfectly_ (I'm still getting frequent pointer movements instead of scrolling up/down) if I use the middle finger + ring finger. It works much better if I use the index finger + middle finger nail instead (YMMV, of course). On the other hand, the edge scrolling, even setting FingerLow=5 FingerHigh=6 does not work, or does it in very seldom cases. [Bug 1124082] Re: [MIR] libmspub
Ugh. Again, identical packaging and concerns from MIR bug 1124074 and bug 1124092. I feel like I'm stuck. :) -Simple, modern packaging -No delta -No test suite -No symbols file, but it's C++, so that's understandable -debian/copyright file is a little malformed (missing license stanza), but that's an issue for NEW, not for MIR. Plus, this is from Debian so not worth a delta. -Would be nice to see a bug subscriber -Forgot to mention this in other reviews, but no important bugs in Debian or Ubuntu for this package (and the others). Of course, this package is rather new. Two problems though. This will need a security review, since it's a file parser. And unlike the other MIRs above, this doesn't seem to have been in main before via libreoffice. So passing to the security team for a quick audit. Also, it does have the lintian warning hardening-no-fortify-functions, like the other MIRs above. Björn, can you just check if that warning is a false or true positive? ** Changed in: libmspub (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: libmspub (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Security Team (ubuntu-security) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1124082 Title: [MIR] libmspub To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libmspub/+bug/1124082/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1119256] Re: rails: CVE-2013-0333: Vulnerability in JSON Parser
Stefan, thanks for attending to this bug. Your debdiff is incomplete however because it patches debian/changelog. As for the binary package, we don't submit those in Launchpad but instead submit patches to source packages in the form of debdiffs. These are then reviewed and applied to source packages, then uploaded to be built, tested and eventually published to Ubuntu users. Since this is an important update and in the interest of time, I am going to incorporate the initial patch you submitted (the one from Debian) to 11.10 - 12.10 (this is already fixed in 13.04). If you are interested in contributing to Ubuntu in this manner in the future, I suggest you read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/UpdatePreparation#Packaging. [Bug 1124299] [NEW] Wrong vertical refresh with Nouveau
Public bug reported: Hello, I'm using Linux Mint 14 MATE, 3.5.0-23 x64 with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 video card and a ViewSonic VG1921wm monitor. Using the NVIDIA privative driver I can set the monitor resolution to 1440x900 @ 75Hz in Menu Preferences Monitors. Then with the monitor buttons I look in Information and it says that vertical frecuency is 74.8Hz, and when I set it to 1440x900 @ 60Hz, the monitor says that vertical frecuency is 59.9Hz, namely: all works well. But when I'm using Nouveau it has no effect, wathever I set in Menu Preferences Monitors (as user or as root, is the same) the information of my monitor always shows a vertical frecuency of 59.9Hz. My graphical system is crashing with some applications at fullscreen using Nouveau finally showing a your x-system is bad configured (or something like that) message, nevertheless I haven't configured anything else than the refresh rate in Menu Preferences Monitors since I installed Linux Mint, I don't know if it may be related. I've already reported this problem in the Linux Mint forum and they've linked me here. The thread is http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=59t=125253 if your want to take a look. 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System - About Ubuntu *** Linux Mint 14 Nadia 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center *** I don't know if it's a concrete package bug or the nouveau driver is releated to the kernel... I'm not sure which package is failing. 3) What you expected to happen *** Vertical frecuency showed by my monitor should me the same is selected in Menu Preferences Monitors 4) What happened instead *** My monitor always shows 60 Hz as vertical refresh although I select 75 Hz in Linux Mint What can I do in order to get the real 1440x900@75Hz resolution with Nouveau? ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1124299 Title: Wrong vertical refresh with Nouveau To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1124299/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1124297] [NEW] Mouse and touch input devices can't be configured seperately
Public bug reported: 1) Ubuntu 12.10 2) gnome-control-center 3.6.3-0ubuntu11~ubuntu12.10.1 3) I want all build in/connected cursor moving devices (touchpad, mouse, external touchpads etc.) to be configured seperately like it's possible with gpointing-device-settings. The before mentioned package does't work propperly with Ubuntu anymore (changes aren't persistent #489830) and isn't updated anymore so it would be nice to have these features directly in the control center. Please add an option to configure all input mouses/touchpads/etc. seperately. I'm not sure about design guidelines but this could be sorted by tabs for every device that's connected. Also settings for every device should be saved somewhere so when you connect an external device the next time the settings should be restored. 4) On my Lenovo laptop I have a Lenovo trackpad and a touchpad, and I often use an external mouse or an Apple Magic Trackpad. At the moment in Ubuntu it's not possible to configure them all seperately considering the different natures of the mentioned input devices. ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1124297 Title: Mouse and touch input devices can't be configured seperately To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1124297/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
