[Bug 1032425] [NEW] FindLibXml2.cmake is broken on 12.04

2012-08-02 Thread Andrew Hunter
Public bug reported:

FindLibXml2.cmake is broken on 12.04.

Either the pkg-config macro isn't finding the .pc or we need to add
x86_64-linux-gnu and i386-linux-gnu to the list of PATH_SUFFIXES.

[Bug 770600] Re: dmraid fails to mount raid0 array after upgrade from Ubuntu 10.10

2011-04-28 Thread Andrew Hunter
Here is the output of dmraid -D

Unfortunately, since I was able to successfully mount the array under an
Ubuntu 10.10 livecd I've backed up my data and switched to soft raid.

It was a 2 drive raid0 array, each 1Tb for a total of 2Tb.

Hopefully one of the other people with the bug will be able to help.

For what it's worth, my chipset was an AMD 890fx.

Cheers,

Andrew

Killer man. Thanx for this. Now we should figure out a way to promote this.

Are you taking requests for apps to include? Do you want to keep it
limited? Are you looking to build a team? Is this something Scott
 can/should blog about?

People are free to suggest apps, but it's the same as any open source
project, scratch your own itch ;) This one just happens to have a
pretty low barrier to entry.

I'll look at this more tomorrow but I wanted to note that the page
should have some kinda disclaimer on it talking about breakage at the
 mercy of upstream or something.

Oh entirely ;)

Is the ppa that you tell us is ready, prepared such that one can open
terminal and make an essentially single step build of a working OS?

No, these are nightly builds of the upstream source code. You still
need to install Ubuntu Studio (or plain Ubuntu), then add this on top.
There are no guarentiees that the software is not broken.

For example, you need feature X that has landed in FFmpeg but is not
included in the version of FFmpeg in Lucid. You could build FFmpeg
from source yourself, but that bypass the package system entirely.

I'd be very interested in ending up with an UbuStu OS that can handle what I
cannot do with what boots up as UbuStu 10.04.1 Lucid 64amd in a Kubuntu
 format.

What exactly do you mean here?

Maybe I am alone in not knowing at all how to proceed.

Add the url to your software sources. More detailed instructions are
available on
https://edge.launchpad.net/~ubuntustudio-nightly/+archive/ubuntustudio-nightly

Andrew

No, I could use some guidance too. Is this for testing or production?

That is for you to decide. The purpose of this PPA is to provide up to
date, but not necessarily stable or tested packages.

2009-10-20 Thread Andrew Hunter
While I'd agree with you, the raw1394 functionality in ubuntustudio-

(libffaddo et. al) support the new firewire stack. The new stack would
allow finer granularity in assigning device permissions rather than the
entire fw bus.

Bug 329150: Default behavior for CTRL+ALT+DEL in Ubuntu Studio 9.04

2009-02-28 Thread Andrew Hunter
Hello everyone,

I need some clarification on the expected behavior of CTRL+ALT+DEL in
Ubuntu Studio 9.04. Will we be following Ubuntu and having
CTRL+ALT+DEL _not_ restart the X server?

I have all the code necessary in -controls to do either behavior but
I need to know what the default state is expected to be. As soon as
this is clarified, I will have ubuntustudio-controls 0.4 ready for
upload.

Thanks,

[Bug 332692] [NEW] broken symlink in libffado-dev

2009-02-21 Thread Andrew Hunter
Public bug reported:

libffado.so was incorrectly symlinked in the original upload. Attached
debdiff fixes the problem.

ffado-mixer and other gui tools are supposed to be generated at build
time, but were incorrectly included in the original upload, the debdiff
reflects this.

This is most likely a hardware bug specific to your laptop. Have you
tried regular ubuntu? The ubuntu studio packages can be added there.

Also in future, this kind of request belongs on the -users list.

We already pull QT with Qjackctl, so I don't see any issue with

[Bug 312025] Re: New upstream version 0.9.8

2008-12-28 Thread Andrew Hunter
Unless something has changed, you shouldn't need to repack this new
upstream tarball.

I packaged genpo originally, and due to several organ definition files
not having licenses, needed to remove them for inclusion in the archive.
Upstream fixed this in newer releases.

So. After careful thought, I've decided that Ubuntu Studio releases will
keep it's design for 2 releases. While I might add a wallpaper, it will
stick with the current feel. Bug-fixes will happen as well. I've done
this with Hardy-Intrepid already, I'm just makin' it official from now
on. While this will be a bummer to some, I must frankly say, they aren't
the ones doin' the work. ;)

Ok, now for the Jaunty/+1 idea.

I'm *thinkin'* of droppin' the #009bf9 blue and adopting the mainline
Ubuntu colors. I'd still use our dark theme, just use orange instead of
blue. Human icon set. The idea is to just look a *little* more Ubuntu.
 :) Just an idea.

What about studo-izing the 'dust' theme?

Echoing the other two posts, I very much like the studio blue and
would like to see it continue in some form. That said, I think you
should also feel free to experiment. :)

 Thoughts?
