[Bug 1061715] Re: Launcher items removed when .desktop file disappears for running sessions
I had originally only checked by changing the file name of the desktop file back to what it was originally, and noticed that it didn't bring it back. But after a reboot, the desktop file is back. So the launcher icon for the file doesn't get removed permanently upon rename/deletion, but only for that particular session. Unity checks if it exists on every login, and if the desktop file becomes available again, it displays it. Not sure what the correct fix should be (track if the file gets re- added? [Bug 1045514] Re: unity not enabled by default
Those errors aren't critical, and they shouldn't be the sole reason for the failure of Unity for you. First, how are you running unity? Try running unity in a terminal, if that doesn't help then try unity --replace. If that doesn't work, then try unity --reset which should hopefully fix everything. If Unity still doesn't work, then try opening up a guest session from the login screen, and see if it works. If it does, then it means something about your configuration is screwed up, and to better understand it, we'd need your .xsession-errors file in your own home directory. ** Changed in: unity Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1045514 Title: unity not enabled by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1045514/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Definitely looks like bug #926658. The top of the stacktrace is different though, but that may just be due to difference in Unity versions.
