[Bug 2064429] Re: Merge ndctl from Debian unstable for oracular
** Description changed: Scheduled-For: Backlog Upstream: tbd - Debian: 77-2 + Debian: 77-2 Ubuntu: 77-2ubuntu2 - There is nothing yet to merge for ndctl currently, but this ticket is filed prospectfully for tracking purposes in case a merge does become available later this cycle. + + ndctl can probably be a sync due to LP#2051925 being completed. If it turns out this needs a sync rather than a merge, please change the tag 'needs-merge' to 'needs-sync', and (optionally) update the title as desired. If this merge pulls in a new upstream version, also consider adding an entry to the Oracular Release Notes: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/c/release/38 - ### New Debian Changes ### ndctl (77-2) unstable; urgency=medium - * Upload to unstable. + * Upload to unstable. - -- Adam Borowski Sun, 11 Jun 2023 20:35:11 +0200 + -- Adam Borowski Sun, 11 Jun 2023 20:35:11 +0200 ndctl (77-1) experimental; urgency=medium - * New upstream release. - * Split out cxl into its own package. - * Drop obsolete README.Debian. - * Update libcxl's symbols. - * Add and install a .service and init script for cxl-monitor. + * New upstream release. + * Split out cxl into its own package. + * Drop obsolete README.Debian. + * Update libcxl's symbols. + * Add and install a .service and init script for cxl-monitor. - -- Adam Borowski Wed, 03 May 2023 17:19:40 +0200 + -- Adam Borowski Wed, 03 May 2023 17:19:40 +0200 ndctl (76.1-1) unstable; urgency=medium - * Freshest upstream fixes... + * Freshest upstream fixes... - -- Adam Borowski Fri, 24 Feb 2023 22:35:47 +0100 + -- Adam Borowski Fri, 24 Feb 2023 22:35:47 +0100 ndctl (76-1) unstable; urgency=medium - * New upstream release (mostly fixes). - * Add libtrace{fs,event} to B-Deps. - * No cxl-monitor automation for now (b/c freeze). + * New upstream release (mostly fixes). + * Add libtrace{fs,event} to B-Deps. + * No cxl-monitor automation for now (b/c freeze). - -- Adam Borowski Thu, 23 Feb 2023 01:16:24 +0100 + -- Adam Borowski Thu, 23 Feb 2023 01:16:24 +0100 ndctl (75-1) unstable; urgency=medium - * New upstream release. - * Drop pre-buster relations. - * Update symbols. + * New upstream release. + * Drop pre-buster relations. + * Update symbols. - -- Adam Borowski Sat, 14 Jan 2023 17:19:15 +0100 + -- Adam Borowski Sat, 14 Jan 2023 17:19:15 +0100 ndctl (74-2) unstable; urgency=medium - [ Helmut Grohne ] - * Fix FTCBFS: (Closes: #1019490) - + cross.patch: Avoid an unnecessary compiler run test. - + Fix confusion of build and host. + [ Helmut Grohne ] + * Fix FTCBFS: (Closes: #1019490) + + cross.patch: Avoid an unnecessary compiler run test. + + Fix confusion of build and host. - -- Adam Borowski Sun, 09 Oct 2022 21:07:29 +0200 + -- Adam Borowski Sun, 09 Oct 2022 21:07:29 +0200 ndctl (74-1) unstable; urgency=medium - * New upstream release. - * Update symbols for libcxl. - * udev rule to configure dax devices at boot. + * New upstream release. + * Update symbols for libcxl. + * udev rule to configure dax devices at boot. - -- Adam Borowski Wed, 24 Aug 2022 12:53:47 +0200 + -- Adam Borowski Wed, 24 Aug 2022 12:53:47 +0200 ndctl (73-2) unstable; urgency=medium - [ Gianfranco Costamagna ] - * Convert the new test link to a multi-arch working example - (taken from libsdl2 tests) + [ Gianfranco Costamagna ] + * Convert the new test link to a multi-arch working example + (taken from libsdl2 tests) - -- Adam Borowski Sat, 28 May 2022 20:42:20 +0200 + -- Adam Borowski Sat, 28 May 2022 20:42:20 +0200 ndctl (73-1) unstable; urgency=medium - * New upstream release. - * Meson. - * Trim unused files from the copyright file. - * Add an autopkgtest for library header/runtime placements. + * New upstream release. + * Meson. + * Trim unused files from the copyright file. + * Add an autopkgtest for library header/runtime placements. - -- Adam Borowski Mon, 16 May 2022 17:33:13 +0200 + -- Adam Borowski Mon, 16 May 2022 17:33:13 +0200 ndctl (72.1-1) unstable; urgency=medium - * New upstream release. - * Add libiniparser-dev to B-Deps, insert its path via CPPFLAGS. - * New library: libcxl. - * No devdax udev integration yet... + * New upstream release. + * Add libiniparser-dev to B-Deps, insert its path via CPPFLAGS. + * New library: libcxl. + * No devdax udev integration yet... - -- Adam Borowski Mon, 24 Jan 2022 15:19:15 +0100 + -- Adam Borowski Mon, 24 Jan 2022 15:19:15 +0100 ndctl (71.1-1) unstable; urgency=medium - * New upstream bugfix release. + * New upstream bugfix release. - -- Adam Borowski Tue, 22 Dec 2020 23:58:17 +0100 + -- Adam Borowski Tue, 22 Dec 2020 23:58:17 +0100 ndctl (71-1) unstable; urgency=medium - * New

[Bug 720638] Re: snmpd crashes with segfault (libnetsnmpmibs.so.15.1.2)
Thanks WBTMagnum. So it sounds like the bisect has narrowed to 5.9.1 showing the issue, and 5.9.3 showing the fix. From the CHANGES file, it sounds like there was no 5.9.2 release: https://github.com/net-snmp/net-snmp/blob/master/CHANGES Presumably, then, the fix would be one of the ones in this list: https://github.com/net-snmp/net-snmp/compare/v5.9.1...v5.9.3 There are a number of memory leak fixes, which could fit the characteristics of this bug, but those were found mostly via Coverity and fuzz testing so they may be more theoretical issues. It could be worth cherrypicking all the commits in that range mentioning "memory leak", applying them to 5.9.1+dfsg-1ubuntu2.6, and testing that. Other fixes that look interesting to my eye: https://github.com/net-snmp/net-snmp/commit/167f3116cd552e71c4a746f3c63ddb710ec05332 https://github.com/net-snmp/net-snmp/commit/16be05e0cad51bd5b0e905066ea2092e574377fd https://github.com/net-snmp/net-snmp/commit/24c519bf899b92049e19d84293929d0253cfb9e8 https://github.com/net-snmp/net-snmp/commit/5ecd04c215f0cbe416434cb5ee0e36ec81a3a63f https://github.com/net-snmp/net-snmp/commit/42fe5ee281beba9793017018aa200a5183a8671e https://github.com/net-snmp/net-snmp/commit/f1a8f8545a9d9a370487c196db230d5bc8f1adae https://github.com/net-snmp/net-snmp/commit/1a560274d0f440d5c604c36b2c32b36e2a3d9a28 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/720638 Title: snmpd crashes with segfault (libnetsnmpmibs.so.15.1.2) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/net-snmp/+bug/720638/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2059859] Re: pam_env(sshd:session): deprecated reading of user environment enabled
Looks like this is the section that would need changed? ### d/openssh-server.sshd.pam.in # Read environment variables from /etc/environment and # /etc/security/pam_env.conf. sessionrequired pam_env.so # [1] # In Debian 4.0 (etch), locale-related environment variables were moved to # /etc/default/locale, so read that as well. sessionrequired pam_env.so user_readenv=1 envfile=/etc/default/locale Is it just the "user_readenv=1" that needs dropped or would the entire line need to drop? From git blame this was added in 1:6.1p1-4 due to LP: #952185 in relation to encrypted home directories. Would any of that need revisited? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2059859 Title: pam_env(sshd:session): deprecated reading of user environment enabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/2059859/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2068026] Re: initramfs-tools hook does not support zstd-compressed kernel modules
From the analysis in the MP, the code in question is vestigial. I let Debian know and they've removed the file. When they put out a new release it will automatically sync in here. Yep, I changed it to 11.1-4ubuntu0.1 when I uploaded, per that policy. Regarding the samba autopkgtest, I've just retriggered it to re-run. [Bug 2064843] Re: Brick SEGFAULTs in 11.1
Hi Nick, Good work on the troubleshooting analysis, and while a set of steps didn't reveal themselves it sounds like you narrowed the conditions down a good bit, ala "locally mounted volume which backs a Minio instance (an S3 API compatible server) used by Restic clients (an incremental backup system) triggered this crash". I'd encourage you to use that to help update the bug description. Even if it can't be boiled down to a paint- by-numbers set of tests, if it can be expressed as a very specific configuration and a statistical measure of crash frequency (once an hour), that can sometimes be sufficient for the SRU reviewers to accept it. Looks like the oracular fix landed without issue. For the noble fix, unfortunately as I understand it the SRU team is quite swamped right now due to heavy SRU requests for 24.04, and they're estimating the queue size is up to ~6 weeks, so it may take them time before they can process or provide feedback on this one. Meanwhile stay tuned. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2064843 Title: Brick SEGFAULTs in 11.1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glusterfs/+bug/2064843/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2064843] Re: Brick SEGFAULTs in 11.1
For the noble SRU, I've also sponsored the upload of the package for you: Uploading to ubuntu (via ftp to upload.ubuntu.com): Uploading glusterfs_11.1-4ubuntu0.1.dsc: done. Uploading glusterfs_11.1-4ubuntu0.1.debian.tar.xz: done. Uploading glusterfs_11.1-4ubuntu0.1_source.buildinfo: done. Uploading glusterfs_11.1-4ubuntu0.1_source.changes: done. Successfully uploaded packages. To be honest, however, I'm not sure if this will pass SRU review. That team tends to want to see a detailed test plan to ensure the issue is definitively found without the patch, and confirmed absent with it. Even if it's just statistically (e.g. "crashes multiple times a day without this fix, but with the fix it should be crash-free for several days) that documents how the upload can be verified. You may also want to sharpen your pencil on the impact statement. "not yet understood" may be a bit of a red flag that there may be more diagnosis homework needing done. A stack trace or crash dump would be appropriate to include in the Other Info section. That can often be useful for other users to help them evaluate if they're affected by this same issue or have something unrelated. Hi Nick, Sorry for the delay - Athos got tied up with another project, but I can help in moving this forward. [Bug 2064465] Re: Merge spamassassin from Debian unstable for oracular
The previous delta in the last merge was demoting libmail-dmarc-perl to Suggests since it was not yet in main. Due to Miriam's efforts that was resolved, and the delta was reverted. The other piece of delta added since last release is: # https://code.launchpad.net/~liushuyu-011/ubuntu/+source/spamassassin/+git/spamassassin/+merge/462834 spamassassin (4.0.0-8ubuntu3) noble; urgency=medium * debian/patches/t-adapt-to-new-dns-module-behavior.patch: Adapt to new Net::DNS::Nameserver behavior. -- Zixing Liu Wed, 20 Mar 2024 22:19:39 -0600 There wasn't a bug filed for this but I gather from the MP this was to correct a test failure. However, the patch no longer applies because the test has changed with what appears to be a different fix for this misbehavior. I suspect due to this that our patch can be dropped. So, I think rather than a merge, this is now a sync; if there is still need for delta on the test case it will show up during migration in the archive. ** Changed in: spamassassin (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress ** Tags removed: needs-merge ** Tags added: needs-sync -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2064465 Title: Merge spamassassin from Debian unstable for oracular To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/spamassassin/+bug/2064465/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2064383] Re: Merge procmail from Debian unstable for oracular
Debian's 3.24+really3.22-2 represents a revert to 3.24 due to an unresolved issue with piped input in procmail rules, to allow them to avoid regressing their upcoming release. Unfortunately for us, we've shipped 3.24 in mantic and noble. Reverting back to 3.22 in oracular wouldn't help our noble userbase, which is going to certainly be far larger than our oracular userbase since it's an LTS. Rather, I think we need a proper SRU-able fix for this issue. So, I think we ought to hold off on merging this package from Debian, and instead seek a proper SRUable fix. It looks like Debian has forwarded the issue upstream, where there has been some initial discussion and continues to be pinging from users interested in a fix. ** Changed in: procmail (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2064383 Title: Merge procmail from Debian unstable for oracular To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/procmail/+bug/2064383/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2056372] Re: Enabling SPF checks with CHECK_RCPT_SPF doesn't work
Given that we're at LTS+1, this would seem to be a good point for a re- think on this piece of delta. I also think Dominic makes good points in comments #43 and #45, and the course of action seems logical to me as well. The delta's been proving time-intensive to maintain, and changes upstream not in our control are limiting what auto-detect functionality can be done. It may be helpful (and perhaps more maintainable), to improve the Exim4 docs in the Ubuntu Server Guide to describe how to do the SPF configuration manually. Here's the current docs: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/install-and-configure-exim4/11530 We should also ensure this gains an entry in the Release Notes for Oracular, whatever approach is taken. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2056372 Title: Enabling SPF checks with CHECK_RCPT_SPF doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/exim4/+bug/2056372/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

ppa-dev-tools 0.6.0 release
The `ppa tests` command received a bunch of bug fixes to autopkgtest trigger URL generation and test result processing, along with some noteworthy packaging advancements in this 0.6 release. ppa-dev-tools is a Launchpad API client that lets you create and manage Personal Package Archives (PPAs) from the command-line, run autopkgtests against them, and check results. E.g.: $ ppa create my-ppa $ dput *.changes ppa:/my-ppa $ ppa wait my-ppa $ ppa tests my-ppa $ ppa destroy my-ppa There's multiple ways to install: By Snap... $ sudo snap install ppa-dev-tools By PPA... $ sudo add-apt-repository -ys ppa:bryce/ppa-dev-tools $ sudo apt-get install ppa-dev-tools By PIP... $ pip install ppa-dev-tools By source... $ git clone https://git.launchpad.net/ppa-dev-tools $ cd ppa-dev-tools $ sudo python3 ./setup.py install Notable changes from 0.5 to 0.6 --- With this release comes some significant improvements in packaging of ppa-dev-tools, including completion of the transition to modern Python build packaging and dropping of the old setup.py approach. Of even more note, ppa-dev-tools is now included in Debian testing, so can now be installed directly on that operating system; hopefully soon it will be available from Ubuntu oracular as well. Meanwhile, the snap packaging has been significantly improved, including snapshot builds, builds for all supported architectures, better handling of Launchpad credentials, and a registered alias for the 'ppa' command. Several irregularities were found in various corner cases with the parsing, processing, and display of test results for the `ppa tests` command. These are fixed and the testsuite expanded to cover a wider variety of test (mis-)behaviors. The --package argument now filters the results as well as the triggers, which will be helpful for users of PPA containing many packages. As well, the `ppa tests` command's handling of triggers has received some fixes that were causing them to not be displayed in some circumstances, or to be improperly encoded for some package version numbers. Thanks to all the contributors to this release: Alberto Contreras, Alexandre Detiste, Heinrich Schuchardt, Mitchell Dzurick, Nathan Pratta Teodosio, Simon Chopin and Benjamin Drung. +1 Maintenance Report
[Shorter week than usual due to holiday.] An unusual amount of tmpfail and timeouts this week. This may be due to an infrastructure problem, as discussed in this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/auto-package-testing/+bug/2067074 It could be specific to autopkgtest, or more general, but that needs analysis, and probably by someone with access to the machinery. I retriggered a boatload of failed tests that appear to be due to this problem, and 99% of the time that worked; this was the bulk of my time spent this stint. Some of these tmpfails were associated with transitions, and I have a few additional details to note, below. ### Perl Transition ### There is currently a minor -4 to -5 update to Perl, which afaict is just Debian tweaking some architecture settings, but it's kicked off a ton of tests (the Perl ecosystem is a big one), many of which failed due to the tmpfail issue above. I've retriggered all the affected tests but there may be some residual work. However, Debian has tended to do multiple Perl updates per cycle, so I didn't want to spend too much time on that. There may be more substantial updates in coming months. Anyway, got all these passing ⚠️ -> ✅ for perl/5.38.2-5: alice, aptitude-robot, carton, chemonomatopist, config-package-dev, dh-octave, dh-sysuser, distro-info, freecontact, hamlib, inspircd, io-stringy, libacme-eyedrops-perl, libalgorithm-combinatorics-perl, libalgorithm-munkres-perl, libapache-session-perl, libcompress-raw-zlib-perl, libconfig-augeas-perl, libconfig-identity-perl, ,libconfig-json-perl, libconfig-model-itself-perl, libfile-remove-perl, libfile-util-perl, libfile-which-perl, libfile-zglob-perl, libfilesys-statvfs-perl, libnumber-recordlocator-perl, libredis-fast-perl ### Pytest Transition ### This is messier, with pytest moving from 7.x to 8.x bringing breaking API changes that have busted a lot of packages. The upstream changelog lists a number of "Breaking Changes", so presumably syncs/merges will be needed. But there are actually several situations going on: * tmpfails. As mentioned above. I've retriggered most of these, and some of them then passed: - h5py [oracular/s390x] - ipyparallel [oracular/armhf] - ipyparallel [oracular/s390x] * i386 missing deps. Not sure if these should all just be force-badtest hinted or if something more involved is needed, but I didn't dig into this. The packages affected here are: - asdf-astropy/0.6.1-1 (fails on i386 only) - asdf-standard/1.1.1-1 - asdf-transform-schemas/0.5.0-1 - astroml/1.0.2-4 - ccdproc/2.4.2-1 - feature-check/2.1.0-2build1 - ginga/5.0.1-1 - gwcs/0.21.0-1 - gwcs/0.21.0- - ndcube/2.2.0-1 - pytest-arraydiff/0.6.1-3 - pyvo/1.5.1-1 * dcmstack: Needs merged; debian's update should fix the issue. * jupyter-client: There is a new 8.x upstream, which Debian is packaging experimentally in git, but no updates in recent months. Probably worth discussion with Doko / Debian. https://qa.debian.org/cgi-bin/vcswatch?package=jupyter-client * Other API breaks. Remaining packages don't have ubuntu delta so autosync, and same errors occur in Debian. ### httpx ### This is the source of blockage for a number of python modules, flask-sqlalchemy, etc. The errors tend to be proxy errors and timeouts on socket connections. Retriggering them hasn't seemed to resolve them. I poked around upstream and in debian but whatever is going on seems to be unique to us. My guess it is some conflict with how the httpx proxy's tests are interacting with our infrastructure squid. Near as I can tell this worked with httpx/0.26.0-2 and regressed with 0.27, so it seems likely to be a change in this release. The changelog for 0.27 (https://github.com/encode/httpx/releases/tag/0.27.0) has only 3 entries, one of which is a fix to make http1 work, which appears to have been an issue with squid in the distant past. I think this may need someone more conversant in autopkgtest infrastructure to examine. ### ubuntu-release-upgrader ### The i386 failure was marked version=blacklisted, result=denylisted, and the log error text suggested contacting Ubuntu QA. I did so, and Brian Murray removed it from never_run and requeued the test which then passed. ### Recipes ### Below are some commands I've collected that can sometimes produce easily actionable tasks (retriggers, etc.) retry-autopkgtest-regressions \ --log-regex 'Temporary failure resolving' \ --min-age 2 retry-autopkgtest-regressions \ --force-cached --min-age 2 \ --log-regex 'FAIL timed out' retry-autopkgtest-regressions \ --force-cached --min-age 2 \ --log-regex 'Unable to connect to ftpmaster' The above commands generally don't produce anything, but when they do the item invariably can be simply retriggered and will pass. retry-autopkgtest-regressions \ --force-cached \ --only-unknown This is the power tool this week, for

[Bug 2067228] [NEW] ncurses/i386 autopkgtest failure
Public bug reported: The i386 autopkgtests for ncurses are failing in oracular due to build dependency confusions. https://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/results/autopkgtest- oracular/oracular/i386/n/ncurses/20240526_110804_4d872@/log.gz It looks like this same sort of issue occurred in noble (LP: #2052951), and was addressed by simply disabling the manpage-references subtest for i386. It looks like ncurses 6.5-2 was sync'd in instead of merging with the delta, thus dropping the workaround. However, the log of this failure differs a bit from the prior issue, in that all of the subtests are failing, and the error messages are a bit different: 267s autopkgtest [11:07:52]: test infocmp-dumb: preparing testbed 268s autopkgtest [11:07:53]: ERROR: Failed to resolve build-deps for /tmp/autopkgtest.lKQ95H/3-autopkgtest-satdep.dsc; apt-get --simulate output: 268s autopkgtest [11:07:53]: ERROR: | Note, using file '/tmp/autopkgtest.lKQ95H/3-autopkgtest-satdep.dsc' to get the build dependencies 268s autopkgtest [11:07:53]: ERROR: | Reading package lists... 268s autopkgtest [11:07:53]: ERROR: | Building dependency tree... 268s autopkgtest [11:07:53]: ERROR: | Reading state information... 268s autopkgtest [11:07:53]: ERROR: | Some packages could not be installed. One option might be to do as in LP: #2052951, and disable all subtests for i386, but I wonder if there are better options to consider that would allow the testsuite to run? I'm not sure I understand precisely what is causing the i386/amd64 confusion, but perhaps this is a known situation with an established way to fix it? [Bug 2040472] Re: Backport packages from noble(-devel) to server-backports PPA for focal and jammy, post-FF
The qemu backport to jammy regressed in the final weeks of noble development. The build dependency error is: The following packages have unmet dependencies: librdmacm1t64 : Breaks: librdmacm1 (< 50.0-2build2~backport22.04.202403311003~ubuntu22.04.1) but 47.0-1~backport22.04.202401230143~ubuntu22.04.1 is to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. The 47.0 version is from mantic (the previous backport), but rdma-core 50.0 is present in the PPA and seems to have built ok, so I'm not sure why qemu is still pulling the older version, but this will need investigated.
