[Bug 975882] Re: Wireless Network Authentication required on home network.

2012-05-05 Thread Caesar Espinosa
It appears that the installer leaves my current network configuration in an
incorrect state.
When the problem is present, on booting, it logs in my own network for a few
seconds, then it reverts to ask wireless authentication required when you
input the password, it logs again for a few seconds and then it returns to ask
the same question. I deleted my own network, reboot, added it back again and
it resolved this problem.

[Bug 368019] [NEW] googleearth-package makes unworking google earth installation on amd64

2009-04-27 Thread Caesar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: googleearth-package

I've been trying to make the .deb for google earth with the make-
googleearth-package program which is provided by 'googleearth-package'
package in repo.

Everything worked fine and I finally got the file named
googleearth_5.0.11337.1968+0.5.4.1-1_amd64.deb

and sucessfully installed it.

I have the N-Vidia proprietary drivers v180 installed. The system is core2duo
with 4G of RAM.
The ubuntu is 9.04, amd64 version.
the googleearth-package version is 0.5.4.1~0ubuntu1

After running `googleearth` I have the following output right after the
splash screen appears:

[Bug 123064] Re: Upgrade to Eclipse 3.4.2

2009-04-17 Thread Caesar
do you expect apt to be more reliable in installing eclipse and its
numerous plugins than eclipse itself?

When I need my workspace on the clean machine I simply unpack my eclipse
installation with all its plugins. It is easier than installing
everything with apt and it is easier than fresh eclipse install and then
plugins install with internal installer.

And I don't need to configure tons of tiny things for every plugin.

Apt and eclipse can live together only when all plugins will have
their's own debs maintained by plugin's developers. In any other case
you'll have eventually install something through eclipse's internal
installer which is bad. Not because it's just bad but because you will
have two managers - apt and eclipse messing with the same software. You
will never be sure which way to use next time because one will work
better for one set of lugins and other will work for some other set, and
you will never know who's responsible of the failure - plugin creator,
eclipse, or repo package maintainer.

[Bug 123064] Re: Upgrade to Eclipse 3.4.2

2009-04-17 Thread Caesar
Oli, I think the reason this will never be done is really simple: not
having elcipse package is not a problem.

At all.

It's really easy to install eclipse manually, It have it's own internal
update, plugins installation and dependency resolving system. Same time,
any external update and plugins installation are complex, unreliable
and... just never worse the time spent on them vs. simplicity of eclipse
manual installation and self-update.

Who want to kill days or even weeks on the problem that can be solved in
other way in 5 minutes?

Just forget about the eclipse package. Anyone who need it will be able
to install manually.

[Bug 301771] Re: madfuload crashes with 'segmentation fault' on amd64

2009-04-01 Thread Caesar
Scott, this bug is not about the /dev/bus/usb issue, it is about
segfault on amd64.

exactly. /proc/bus/usb issue exists on both platforms and easily
fixable, but crash happens only on amd64

[Bug 301771] [NEW] madfuload crashes with 'segmentation fault' on amd64

2008-11-24 Thread Caesar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: madfuload

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 amd64 and trying to get M-Audio Transit USB Audio
Interface working with madfuload firmware downloader.

madfuload version is 1.2-2 (latest at the moment)

Madfuload should upload the firmware to the device and device should
appear in `asoundconf list` and `/proc/asound/cards` lists

command crashes with 'segmentation fault' error instead.

To reproduce:
1) get the M-Audio Transit USB interface and connect it to USB port
2) find the bus and device numbers in lsusb output. It was 005/003 in my case
3) run madfuload with proper options and get the segmentation fault:

$ sudo madfuload -v -f /usr/share/usb/maudio/ma006100.bin -3 -D
/proc/bus/usb/005/003
/usr/share/usb/maudio/ma006100.bin: 5616 bytes read successfully
reading device descriptor ...
interface descriptor 0:0
DFU interface is 0
DFU descriptor found
transfer size is 64
waiting 32 ms
Segmentation fault

Btw this package works fine on i386 box.

** Affects: madfuload (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
