[Bug 1569397] [NEW] Allow passed in distro version if it matches the host's distro version

2016-04-12 Thread Christopher Townsend
Public bug reported:

libertine-container-manager checks if the passed in distro version, ie
the '-d' option' when using create, is valid such as is it end of life
or a valid name.

If host's distro version is the same as the version being passed in,
then we should allow it even if it's end of life such as on the phone
(Vivid).

This will be needed for the upcoming Libertine click package intended
for the phone.

[Bug 1566844] [NEW] Need to run ldconfig.REAL inside chroot based containers when updating or installing packages

2016-04-06 Thread Christopher Townsend

In chroot based containers, the dynamic linker run-time bindings are not
correct after installing packages w/ .so's after new updates.

libertine-container-manager should run ldconfig.REAL inside the chroot
container after package install and updates.

[Bug 1566834] [NEW] Need to make sure libertine-session-bridge is fully running before launching apps in a container

2016-04-06 Thread Christopher Townsend
Public bug reported:

When libertine-launch fires off libertine-session-bridge, it does not
check anything to make sure the Dbus socket is up and ready before
launching the app in the container. This causes a race in that the app
may not find the socket and will fail.

Need some checks to make sure libertine-session-bridge is fully running
before proceeding to launch the app in the container.

[Bug 1566487] [NEW] Container apps should use same keyboard layout as Unity 8

2016-04-05 Thread Christopher Townsend
Public bug reported:

Container apps should follow the same keyboard layout set in Unity 8.
Need to come up with some way to query what Unity 8 is using and then
set that layout after starting the Xmir instance or at app launch time.

[Bug 1566407] [NEW] Please remove unity8-lxc from the archive

2016-04-05 Thread Christopher Townsend
Public bug reported:

I'd like to ask for removal of unity8-lxc from the archive.

## Rationale:

unity8-lxc originally used the Ubuntu Desktop Next ISO for the LXC's
rootfs, but that has been deprecated and removed some months ago. We
then tried to use a metapackage, but that is becoming a maintenance and
resource issue.

It has been decided that the best way for users to try Unity 8 desktop
is to use the latest Ubuntu development release and install unity8
-desktop-session-mir. Thus, unity8-lxc is deprecated and needs to be
removed from the archive.

Thank you!

[Bug 1565995] [NEW] Ubuntu Desktop next metapackage is sorely out of date

2016-04-04 Thread Christopher Townsend
Public bug reported:

The Ubuntu Desktop Next metapackage that is included in unity8-lxc is
sorely out of date with no maintainer and is deprecated.

The Desktop Team's official story on using Unity 8 is to download the
latest development ISO and install unity8-desktop-session-mir on it. So
we will have to do just that for unity8-lxc:(

2016-04-04 Thread Christopher Townsend
Hi,

Thanks for reporting this bug. Looks like the unity8-lxc configuration
file gets removed by the time the unity8-lxc postrm script runs. Then
when lxc-destroy runs, it complains about the missing configuration
file. Need to take care of this case.

Hi,

Thanks for entering this bug report. Looks like I didn't take into
account that --purge will remove lxc/lxc1 first and remove lxc-destroy
first before the unity8-lxc post-rm script is called which uses lxc-
destroy.

Need to take care of this case.

[Bug 1562139] [NEW] Need better error reporting for container issues

2016-03-25 Thread Christopher Townsend
Public bug reported:

Error reporting for container issues is pretty much non-existent.

Issues such as why an LXC won't start is not being reported. Some of
this is due to the LXC Python API not providing any sort of error
reporting (see bug #1542438).

However, we should be better than we are now in error reporting.

[Bug 1561703] [NEW] Auto choose container type when none is given

2016-03-24 Thread Christopher Townsend
Public bug reported:

When the "-t"/"--type" option is not given during the create operation,
libertine-container-manager should auto choose the type based on the
running kernel.

For kernel version < 3.13, chroot type should be used.
For kernel version >= 3.13, lxc type should be used.

[Bug 1560129] [NEW] unity-scope-click is either held back or removed depending on apt-get command

2016-03-21 Thread Christopher Townsend
Public bug reported:

With unity8-desktop-session-mir already installed, the latest unity-
scope-click is held back when using apt-get upgrade or removed if
answering "Y" when doing apt-get dist-upgrade.

This is due to the new depends on packagekit, but packagekit conflicts
with python3-aptdaemon.pkcompat which is already installed.

The only way to upgrade unity-scope-click is to manually remove
python3-aptdaemon.pkcompat or let dist-upgrade do it's thing and then
manually install unity-scope-click.

[Bug 1555820] [NEW] Add a file chooser in the GUI when installing a Debian package

2016-03-10 Thread Christopher Townsend
Public bug reported:

Once https://code.launchpad.net/~townsend/libertine/support-deb-
install/+merge/287093 is approved and merged, we will need to come up
with a way to display a file chooser of some sort in the GUI.

I initially tried the FileDialog QML type, but it doesn't work on Unity
8 due to a new surface being created when the FileDialog is made
visible. This surface "replaces" the other one for Libertine, so then
there is no way back to Libertine when the FileDialog closes. This is
an issue in Unity 8 that it still doesn't really support multi-
surfaces/new spawned windows.
