[Bug 1551897] Re: Excessive CPU utilization
This is actually a bug in ccid's handling of composite USB devices, and has been fixed upstream (https://alioth.debian.org/plugins/scmgit/cgi- bin/gitweb.cgi?p=pcsclite/CCID.git;a=commitdiff_plain;h=3c21f452543983f3625a1965ce234074cbda6865). My experience was that this bug caused pcscd to segfault, rather than to consume 100% CPU, but the fix appears to be the same either way. I've attached a debdiff that fixes the issue for me, and I've uploaded a test build to my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~broder/+archive/ubuntu /ubuntu-tests). I suspect this merits an SRU, since it's a significant regression in functionality without a good workaround; I'll start on the paperwork. ** Patch added: "ccid_1.4.22-1ubuntu0.1.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ccid/+bug/1551897/+attachment/4659458/+files/ccid_1.4.22-1ubuntu0.1.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1551897 Title: Excessive CPU utilization To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ccid/+bug/1551897/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1106429] [NEW] [backportpackage] -sa detection does not worth with private PPAs
Public bug reported: backportpackage's attempt to detect whether -sa is needed or not is foiled by private PPAs, as hitting https://launchpad.net/~whomever/+archive/whatever/+files/my_file redirects to the login page. httplib2 follows redirects, and the login page returns a 200, so backportpackage concludes it doesn't need to pass -sa. Not totally sure what the right fix here is. My recollection was that determining this from using the LP API was difficult, but I haven't looked at the options in a while. ** Affects: ubuntu-dev-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1106429 Title: [backportpackage] -sa detection does not worth with private PPAs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-dev-tools/+bug/1106429/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1007042] Re: [backportpackage] fails but worked last week
We used to generate backport version numbers of the form VERSION_BEING_BACKPORTED~RELEASE_CODENAME1. It worked well at the time because it guaranteed that a backport of the same version to, e.g., natty would have a lower version number than the backport to oneiric, since the n would sort before o. That's important because we rely on the version numbers sorting like that for release upgrade paths with backports to work. Colin pointed out that this would break down when we ran out of letters and started wrapping around, and suggested that we instead switch to using the version number, which is what backportpackage now does. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1007042 Title: [backportpackage] fails but worked last week To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-dev-tools/+bug/1007042/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Backports procedures updates
Hey guys - Some quick updates based on assorted recent discussions. As we move to a world where archive admins use APIs instead of shell access to do their job, it's no longer really necessary for them to be processing backports. Colin has said that he is OK with us uploading backports ourselves using backportpackage from ubuntu-dev-tools, and you've probably noticed Iain and me doing this. For reference, here's the invocation I would use if I was processing bug #1005372 backportpackage -ke...@ebroder.net -d precise -s quantal -b -u ubuntu -w ~/ubuntu/conky -c 1005372 conky (Note that for multi-destination backports, you can specify -d multiple times) These uploads will still land in UNAPPROVED and require AA review, but hopefully it should be significantly easier for everyone. I've made a few tweaks to backportpackage at Colin's request. It now passes -v to debuild with the last published version number, which matches archive admin-generated backports. It has a -c, --close flag to mention an LP bug in the changelog, though the bug still has to be closed by hand (since our bugs aren't part of the ubuntu project, and backports uploads can't close bugs anyway). And I've changed the version number style from ~precise1 to ~ubuntu12.04.1, which will make our version numbers more future-proof when we run out of letters. I don't think any of these changes have been included in a ubuntu-dev-tools release yet. I've been using the u-d-t daily builds (https://launchpad.net/~udt-developers/+archive/daily). I'm planning to send an email to ubuntu-devel soon with some updates on the backports project (including docs updates and assorted flow changes), though I won't be offended if someone beats me to the punch. - Evan -- ubuntu-backports mailing list ubuntu-backports@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-backports
Testing for backports of security/stable updates
As part of trying to do a slightly better job of handling security and stable updates, I'd like to propose reducing our testing requirements for those backports. Proposal: For stable and security updates of backported packages which are not new upstream versions, it is not necessary to test reverse dependencies. The only testing required is builds/installs/runs of the package itself. [Bug 948485] Re: Suspend after undocking laptop doesn't work
Clayton - Thanks for the update. It does sound like your issue was different than mine, but I'm glad it was resolved. (For reference, because it's very difficult to detect whether a laptop is actually docked, upower instead looks at whether or not multiple displays are connected to the laptop, and uses that as a proxy for whether or not the laptop is docked. If you're docking the laptop but not using an external monitor when you do, upower will never set is- docked to true.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/948485 Title: Suspend after undocking laptop doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pm-utils/+bug/948485/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 980746] [NEW] upower does not check dock state on resume from suspend
Public bug reported: Now that gnome-settings-daemon's power management code checks upower's is-docked flag, it's important that it be accurate. However, it is possible that the inputs to the is-docked state could change while the laptop is suspended without generating a drm udev event to trigger a re-probe. This is fairly easily reproducible: 1. Connect external monitor 2. Suspend using the system menu 3. Disconnect external monitor 4. Wake the laptop back up 5. Close lid I expect the laptop to go to sleep. However, it does not, because upower believes the laptop is still docked (you can confirm this by looking for the is-docked line in upower --dump) Fix for this issue was committed upstream as http://cgit.freedesktop.org/upower/commit/?id=6fb36eb5eb85386d2e1c5d9fb760d68053d8afc5 ** Affects: upower (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: upower (Ubuntu Oneiric) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: upower (Ubuntu Oneiric) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/980746 Title: upower does not check dock state on resume from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upower/+bug/980746/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 966511] [NEW] Please backport mosh 1.1-1 (universe) from precise
Public bug reported: Please backport mosh 1.1-1 (universe) from precise to lucid, maverick, natty, oneiric. [Bug 852603] Re: hedgewars 0.9.17 can not engage in network play with current release
It's unfortunately not that simple. We've always shipped the hedgewars server as part of our packages. To drop the server in a post-release update would not be acceptable. However, the Haskell language has changed enough since early 2010 that the current server will not build using the Haskell packages from 10.04. Unless somebody comes up with a patch that allows us to build the 0.9.17 server on Ubuntu 10.04's Haskell stack, an SRU isn't an option. It may be possible to backport the package. However, due to the requirements of the backports project, one of 2 things would have to happen: either the maverick-proposed packages need to be verified in the next few days (in which case we would backport from maverick-updates to lucid-backports), or we need to wait a month until maverick is EOL (in which case backport policies allow us to backport from precise to lucid- backports). In either case, we need a patch to the packaging to disable the server so that the package builds on Lucid. In any case, there's a lot of work that needs to be done to get hedgewars 0.9.17 into Lucid, and I don't have the time to actively drive this anymore, so somebody else from the community needs to step up to do the development work. If there's nobody that can, then it may be time to accept that we can't offer current versions of hedgewars on an OS that's 2 years old. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/852603 Title: hedgewars 0.9.17 can not engage in network play with current release To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oneiric-backports/+bug/852603/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 961807] [NEW] [FFe] New package mosh
Public bug reported: mosh is a remote shell updated for the realities of modern network connectivity. It supports roaming (automatically reestablishes connections if they get broken) and predictive local echo (for better perceived interactivity on high-latency connections) Version 1.0 of mosh is currently in Debian unstable (http://packages.qa.debian.org/m/mosh.html), and there are daily builds available in a PPA (https://launchpad.net/~keithw/+archive/mosh) with nearly identical packaging. The maintainer (for both Debian and upstream) has informed me that he will be releasing 1.1 in the near future, and has asked we hold off syncing until that is uploaded. Here is the current pending changelog for 1.1: 2012-03-18 Keith Winstein mosh-de...@mit.edu * Version 1.1 released (stable release). * Allows user to specify remote command to execute. * Only advertises 256 colors when user's terminal has 256 colors. * Add chaff to datagrams to frustrate statistical analysis of length * Cosmetic fixes to terminal handling * Improved startup script (Anders Kaseorg) In the mean time, the package has already built in Debian on all architectures except armel, armhf, and both kfreebsd architectures. I've verified that the current Debian package builds on Ubuntu without modifications (log attached), and that the resulting packages work (modulo some locale issues in my chroot) adconrad has volunteered to do the srcNEW review in exchange for cookies. [1] I ran into an issue with sphinx's .mo files being stripped by pkgbinarymangler. With sphinx, in order to build the translated files you seem to need to have the sphinx.mo files for the languages you want installed. So any package that trys to use sphinx's baked in i18n support won't actually work. It seems this has already been reported against the sphinx source package. [2] Temporarily, we can work around this for the packaging guide, as it's not actually in the archive, by providing a non-stripped version in our PPA. Obviously this isn't ideal, and this might be breaking other packages we're not aware of. David Planella suggested I talk to you. He thinks that there might be an option on pkgbinarymangler (or perhaps it can be specified in the same package, on the control file?) to blacklist a package from getting its translations stripped. Looking through the code for pkgbinarymangler, I don't see a way for a package to opt out of translations on its own. However, there is a way for packages to opt in: the X-Ubuntu-Use-Langpack: yes tag in the control file (http://bit.ly/zOk3jP) - seems like that could be fairly easily extended to support no. Also, there is a blacklist of packages that shouldn't be translated in the pkgbinarymangler package: http://bit.ly/wk9qhM - you could have the packaging guide added to that. -- ubuntu-devel mailing list ubuntu-devel@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-devel

However, I made a mistake opening an SRU task on this bug, since bug #884619 is already tracking the original problem, so I'm going to close out this bug and we can move the discussion there. ** No longer affects: egenix-mx-base (Ubuntu) ** No longer affects: egenix-mx-base (Ubuntu Oneiric) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/948117 Title: Please backport egenix-mx-base 3.2.1-1 from Precise to Oneiric To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oneiric-backports/+bug/948117/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 884619] Re: Segfault with comparison to None
This has already been fixed in the 3.2.1 upstream release, currently in Precise as 3.2.1-1, so I'm closing the bug against the development release. I've gone ahead and uploaded an microrelease update of 3.2.1 to oneiric- proposed. Somebody from the SRU team should be through to review the SRU. In the mean time, please update the bug description with a few sentences for each of the 5 points mentioned in step 2 of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure ** Changed in: egenix-mx-base (Ubuntu) Status: New = Fix Released ** Changed in: egenix-mx-base (Ubuntu Oneiric) Status: New = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/884619 Title: Segfault with comparison to None To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/egenix-mx-base/+bug/884619/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 884619] Re: Segfault with comparison to None
To clarify above, I chose to update to 3.2.1 not because it's difficult to isolate the relevant patch, but because all of the changes in the 3.2.1 release fix bugs in the code. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/884619 Title: Segfault with comparison to None To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/egenix-mx-base/+bug/884619/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
