fine with 10.10, both with the stock kernel and a 2.6.37 kernel. I also
tried the other output line but it doesn't make a difference.

[Bug 748527] Re: [EX58-UD5, Realtek ALC889A, Grey Line Out, Rear] No sound at all

2011-04-02 Thread Guillaume Melquiond
After running alsamixer, I noticed there was an extra channel called
Side 3 that was set to 0 (and it was the only one set to 0). Once I
set it to 100, sound started working fine. I don't know whether this
channel existed in maverick and whether it was set to 100 there. So
sound works fine, it's just that the default mixer settings are
incorrect in natty, and there is no other way (?) to change them than to
go to console.

[Bug 685682] Re: [fglrx] compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in nux::IOpenGLSurface::UnlockRect()

2011-04-02 Thread Guillaume Melquiond
With compiz version 1:0.9.4git20110322-0ubuntu5, the desktop is unusable
due to black squares appearing all over the place. Using version
1:0.9.4git20110322-0ubuntu6+r2723+201103301010 from ppa:unity/daily does
fix it. This makes unity usable with fglrx.

[Bug 332381] Re: cheese records at a painfully slow fps

This has nothing to do with video resolution.

@Vish :
Please think twice before adding a duplicate tag, it can be very frustrating to

2011-03-26 Thread guillaume le louet
Vish, please. Read what the other bug is about. Then, read what this one
bug is about.

And, even god made mistakes. In that case, Paul did one. those two bugs
are not the same one.

PLUS, you are now insulting me. You don't even want to discuss, and are
looking down to me. Just to tell you how you make me feel.

So please, next time someone telle you you did wrong, DONT say no
before really considering his point of view. If you don't have time to
think of it, let someone else answer. The error of Paul has been
corrected after one year, so it's not a problem if my error takes
another one year before being corrected - at least you will not offense
me.

Removing the duplicate bug. If you add it again without discussion, I
need to find a CM.

Vish,
I have the exact same symptoms described in the first post, so untill specific
information is given about the importance of hardware in this bug, THEY ARE THE
SAME ONE.

As a java dev, I know well that the same apparent bugs may be produced
by underlying different bugs. But, when there is no more information
about the origin of the bug, two bugs with same symptoms have to be
considered as the same one bug.

I understand well that there are roles. But whatever you think, the
original bug symptoms are not the same as the bug it is marked duplicate
of.

Now, when I arg with you, it is very unpolite to skip my opinion.

So, in short : You don't read my posts, or you don't consider them. You think
that Paul cannot have made a mistake.
you have the exact behaviour of a troll.
TROLL.

[Bug 727620] Re: [Radeon HD 5650 and 5470] Driver crash during recovery boot and in normal boot (Regression from 2.6.38-3 to -4)

2011-03-21 Thread Guillaume Modard
I confirm that the bug is still there. I install last update this
morning (I saw xserver-xorg-video-ati, -radeon... update so I was
expecting the bug to be solved).

When I restart, I need to reboot more than 5 time before I get a
desktop. And now, when the boot crash, I don't get any shell, screen
stay black (as if it is off).

I really expect this bug will be solved before the final release. If
not, Ubuntu won't work on plenty of the last HP pavilion laptop.

[Bug 728668] [NEW] Need to start computer multiple time to get interface

2011-03-03 Thread Guillaume Modard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I bought a new Laptop : HP Pavilion dv6. I've installed Ubuntu 11.04
without any trouble (it was slow, but no error).

Now, to start my computer, I need to restart several time to get the
User Interface. Sometime, I've to do it more than 6 time. In stead of
starting, I get the an error (see image, sorry for the poor quality).

I can't explain why the computer start correctly after some reboot. I do
nothing, just press the power button after the error, then, reboot.
After doing this several time, Unity start.

The error told me about Radeon. So I imagine that it can come from :
- The New Xorg version
- The Free Radeon Graphic driver
- Unity
- Plymouth

[Bug 709425] [NEW] Trash crashed as I've tried to move a file (Untitled.skp) from Nautilus

2011-01-28 Thread Guillaume
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Ubuntu 10.10
First, I'm not sure it's directly linked to Nautilus. I've moved a file called
Untitled.skp from my Home folder to the GNOME's Trash applet. The computer
has booted around five minutes before the bugs happened.
The interface I'm using is the original shipped one.
I dragged the file twice. As usual, I took it would take a certain time before
disappearing, but it didn't.
I tried again.
My cursor kept it appearance (dragging one), but still cold move.
System was unresponsive : no way to click on icons, windows, workspaces, etc...
Some keys combinations was still available such as Ctrl+Alt+F1:F8, Ctrl+Alt+Del.
To fill requirements, I've expected the file to be deleted as usual, but it
crashed like described upper.
If crash of that kind are considered like security vulnerability, I let you
decide about it.
Also, if you want a copy of the file (maybe it's about it..), it'll be on
attachment.
I'll give it another try, and confirm if it's really about it.
Thank you very much for your time! You are all amazing!!

[Bug 567248] Re: skype in empathy (bigbrownchunx-skype-dbus) with pidgin-skype

2010-12-29 Thread Guillaume Lecanu
Hello :-)

@Benjamin Schmid:
I have exactly the same problem. I have just re-installed from scratch a
Maverick version, I have firstly tried the pidgin-skype package in the
repository, but I have also tried the Skype4Pidgin.deb on the Eion website.

Each time, I see the protocol in the account creation, but no Skype
authorisation popup...

Any ideas ?

Problem occurs on Windows machines (XP, 7)

[Bug 685129] [NEW] Adding Non Official application to unity do not work

2010-12-04 Thread Guillaume Modard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

With Natty Alpha 1 up to date.

I've downloaded an extra application which is not in official ubuntu
repository : Blender 2.55Beta directly from blender.org
(http://www.blender.org/download/get-254-beta/).

I unzip it to /opt folder and start Blender. It works and Blender icon
appear correctly on the Unity side bar. So I right click on the icon and
do Pin to launcher and close blender. The icon is still there, but
when I click on it, nothing happen.

Then, if I unlock or restart computer, the Blender icon disappear.

[Bug 685132] [NEW] Strange artifacts appear on the interface

2010-12-04 Thread Guillaume Modard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

This bug already exist in 10.10 in Netbook ed. with Unity and seams to
be partially solved in 11.04 (artifacts still appear, but rarely).

Sometime and randomly, small artifacts appear on Unity interface over
icons (look at the attached capture Artifact on icon). In 10.10, it
was every where (sometime, interface comes unreadable). Now, it seams to
appear only on unity elements (the side bar and the menu bar). I never
had this over opened windows in 11.04.

[Bug 663535] Re: Extreme poor Video Quality in Empathy (jabber)

2010-11-17 Thread Guillaume Desmottes
I tested empathy - empathy with both the libx264 fixes. The received
video was switching between a few seconds of good image and then some
grey shit. That could be because of
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=635020

I'd say to go for it because it's probably not related to libx264 and
that's a general improvement any way.

2010-11-02 Thread Guillaume Desmottes
As said in the upstream bug (
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=633809 ) that's actually a
libx264 bug.

Our options are:

A) Fix libx264 :
http://git.videolan.org/?p=x264.git;a=commitdiff;h=3d0d9cda1d39239e9f388fe1fce29c9212d0273c

[Bug 650539] Re: Launching QT apps under Xinerama crashes Xorg : affects SpeedCrunch, KeePassX, Lucky Backup, Pencil, Stellarium, Skype, Google Earth, VLC, Konqueror, VirtualBox, Opera ...

2010-10-29 Thread Guillaume Radde
I have the same bug on my Ubuntu-10.10-64bits with 2 NVIDIAs GPU and
xinerama. X crashes as soon as I open Lyx. I tried the patch and it
seems to fix the bug for me. Haven't had it crashed sinced I applied the
patch and it's been several days. When will the patch be available as a
package update? This is a serious bug as I was unable to use any Qt app.

Looks like a memory corruption. Could you please run /usr/lib/empathy
/empathy-auth-client with valgrind and attach logs please?

Start it using:

--leak-check=full --leak-resolution=high --num-callers=20
/usr/lib/empathy/empathy-auth-client

[Bug 659030] [NEW] Hang when playing sounds (82801JI) after upgrading to maverick

2010-10-12 Thread Guillaume Melquiond
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

I've recently upgraded from Lucid to Maverick and the sound system does
not work properly anymore. After a few minutes playing sounds, the sound
output will stutter then stop, and the system will become sluggish. If
I'm fast enough in killing pulseaudio (pulseaudio -k), I recover a
working system and sound too. Otherwise, the system will hang hard; not
even SysRq magic is working.

The hardware is a motherboard chipset: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel
Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller.

The working system was kernel 2.6.32-25 and pulseaudio
1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu14.
The nonworking system is kernel 2.6.35-22 and pulseaudio
1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu21.

Unfortunately, the logs do not contain anything relevant at the time the
system breaks down. In case it helps, there is the following message at
system start though (which I didn't have in Lucid):

Oct 12 10:08:41 saline pulseaudio[1726]: alsa-util.c: snd_pcm_avail_delay()

[Bug 659030] Re: Hang when playing sounds (82801JI) after upgrading to maverick

2010-10-12 Thread Guillaume Melquiond
apport information

** Package changed: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) = alsa-driver (Ubuntu)

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  Oct 12 10:08:41 saline pulseaudio[1726]: alsa-util.c: snd_pcm_avail_delay()
returned strange values: delay 0 is less than avail 16.
  Oct 12 10:08:41 saline pulseaudio[1726]: alsa-util.c: Most likely this is a
bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_hda_intel'. Please report this issue to the ALSA
developers.
