[Bug 173350] Re: Caps lock LED changes state even when caps lock is mapped to ctrl
I'm also experiencing this issue. Currently I'm using a workaround posted above and have a permanently lit LED. Up to date with all recent updates. Xorg log attached. ** Attachment added: Xorg.0.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14656466/Xorg.0.log -- Caps lock LED changes state even when caps lock is mapped to ctrl https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/173350 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 113188] Re: could not install updates
Richard, I wasn't upgrading between edgy and feisty. My computer had a clean install of the beta version of feisty and I was fully patched after the official release of feisty. When the error occurred, the latest updates had downloaded automatically as they should and the notification appeared on my panel. I clicked through to install the updates and when update-manager launched the error I reported appeared. I don't know if this is relevant, but I added the feisty-commercial repositories couple of days ago, in order to install vmware-server. The updates which I tried to install were the first since doing that. Is there any other information or files I should include? Happy to help, James. Did this occur when you were tryoing to upgrade from Edgy (6.10) to feisty (7.04)? If so could you please provide the log files from the upgrade. These can be found in /var/log /dist-upgrade. This extra information will help diagnose the problem. thanks for helping to improve ubuntu, Richard ** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Richard Birnie Status: Unconfirmed = Needs Info -- could not install updates https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113188 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 113188] Re: could not install updates
Richard, I'm just running standard Ubuntu. I've attached a copy of my dpkg.log which doesn't apear to be overwritten. The last entry is the install of vmware-server I can't install or even do 'apt-cache search packagename' without getting an error (with the commercial repository enabled).: E: Encountered a section with no Package: header E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.canonical.com_ubuntu_dists_feisty-commercial_main_binary-i386_Packages E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. After removing the commercial repositories (and updating the package lists), I was able to install packages successfully. I've just added the commercial repository and removed and installed vmware-server again, without any reported errors. Finally, I've installed a non-commercial package with the commercial repository enabled, again without problems. So, I'm fairly confident that now I'll be able to get updates again. Perhaps it was just bad luck? Thanks for your help. On Wed, 2007-05-09 at 09:24 +, Richard Birnie wrote: James, thanks for responding. Just so we're clear, we are talking Ubuntu and not Kubuntu or Xubuntu here yes? I can't imagine that adding the commercial repositories should cause any problems unless you were unlucky and there was a problem with the server that day. It might be something wrong with the actual package. Attaching /var/log/dpkg.log wouldn't hurt if it hasn't been overwritten. If you have the time there are a few things you could try. 1) If dpkg.log has been overwritten then try installing the package from the commandline with 'sudo apt-get install packagename' and paste the output here. 2) Can you still install packages from the other repositories OK? If not what happens if you remove the commercial repositories and try again? 3) Can you install other packages from the commercial repository successfully?
