[Bug 690433] Re: procps starts too early to correctly set net.netfilter.nf_conntrack_acct

2013-10-09 Thread Jeroen Vijfhuizen
Could not find a way to edit comments but I'd like to retract comment
#14. In my case it was first touching any iptables related stuff in
rc.local which seems to be executed later then procps. I am now force
loading the related module 'nf_conntrack_ipv4' in /etc/modules which
makes the sysctl.d settings being properly applied on next boot.

This was one of the most confusing system configuration related bugs I
have ever had to chase. Hopefully there is some way (I know this is not
easy) to make this whole process better in the future :)

I'd like to second that, still having this on Ubuntu server 12.04 LTS.

[Bug 68874] Re: ubuntu-desktop depends on totem-mozilla

2007-02-21 Thread Jeroen Vijfhuizen
+1

Quite annoying, I did the ugly thing by simply removing the links in the
firefox plugins directory, that was the only way of forcing firefox to
use the mplayer plugin.

I like this solution:
Depends: totem-mozilla | mozilla-mplayer | mozilla-plugin-vlc

[Bug 84967] Re: Amarok freezes on Kubuntu Feisty

2007-02-20 Thread Jeroen Vijfhuizen
Having this issue too. Dist-upgrade from Edgy, now at Amarok version
1.4.5. Installed libxine-extracodecs, then removed it to try to recreate
this bug. This is the output when I start amarokapp:

kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::insertKAccel( kaccel = 0x814a070 ): KAccel
object already contains an action name play_pause
QLayout unnamed added to QVBox unnamed, which already has a layout
kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::insertKAccel( kaccel = 0x814a070 ): KAccel
object already contains an action name play_pause
QLayout: Adding KToolBar/mainToolBar (child of QVBox/unnamed) to layout for
PlaylistWindow/PlaylistWindow
STARTUP

So the above warnings are not an issue and happen before the mp3 issue,
this is what I get after adding a mp3:

Xlib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x158e4d)!

After which the program hangs. I now cancel the program (CTRL-C) and try
again. When I add another mp3 now, I get:

Very strange! got a DCOPReply opcode, but we were not waiting for a
reply!

This message shows, nothing happens ( although I suspect a background
job is hanging). Unlike the first time, I can continue using the
program.

So the last message is different on two different tries and seems to
vary between mp3 files. Quite odd.

[Bug 28326] Re: i810 Xv crashes after suspend - infinite resprawn

2007-01-15 Thread Jeroen Vijfhuizen
I did not have this issue on resume, but I did have it on starting totem
on a .ogg file. All kinds of weird colored lines on the screen but you
can still see x trying to restart.

The driver on http://www.fairlite.demon.co.uk/intel.html fixed it.

Dell Inspiron 510m
Intel 855GME Integrated chip set

Running Ubuntu Edgy.

[Bug 67196] Re: mouse pointer disappears after switch to console or resuming from sleep

2007-01-12 Thread Jeroen Vijfhuizen
Having this problem as well, so far I've had this on three occasions:

 * coming back after suspend
 * switching user (so NOT logging off), then taking the session back
 * coming back to X after a switch to console (CTRL-ALT-Fx)

In all instances a logout / login fixed the problem.
