[Bug 1257104] [NEW] Rsync --timeout argument ignores non-transfer progress
Public bug reported: I want rsync to timeout if it is unable to continue making progress on a remote backup over ssh. For example, if the remote destination server is rebooted, I don't want this to cause an orphaned process on the source computer. However, if I use the --timeout argument (--timeout=180), it will timeout prematurely while evaluating large files, during which, progress is indeed being made, but since no data is actually being transfered (for period longer that 180 secounds), it make rsync exit (even though it is really progressing). This has been discussed before: https://lists.samba.org/archive/rsync/2011-August/026640.html Either the timeout argument needs to be changed to take this type of progress into consideration, or another argument should be added to rsync that DOES indeed take this type of progress into consideration before invoking a timeout. ** Affects: rsync (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1257104 Title: Rsync --timeout argument ignores non-transfer progress To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rsync/+bug/1257104/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Now that someone has tested Ubuntu 13.10 with the same kernel that was used in Ubuntu 13.04, and he confirmed that this bug persists in both UXA and SNA modes (in 13.10), it appears (so far) that it is not the new kernel's fault. [Bug 733349] Re: Minimize Application's Windows upon clicking its Launcher Icon
You know, if they could at least do post #335, it would make up a lot for the inconveniences of the title bar being integrated into the top- panel. Due to Title Bar Integrated in top-panel, these additional steps are required to minimize and application (using the mouse): 1) Click on application window you want to minimize 2) Hover your mouse all the way to the top-left panel (that doesn't show you a minimize button until you hover over it) 3) Click a very tiny red circle with a X (why do precise an effort for my tastes) Now, if they'd grant post #335, you could click on a very blunt fat icon (require less precise effort) that's 1) Visible even if the application doesn't have focus. 2) All three of the steps listed above could be achieved with less mouse movement: a. You don't have to mouse to the unfocused window and click it to make it gain focus b. If the window you are trying to minimize doesn't have focus, you have one location that both i. Gives it focus ii. Minimizes it This is so clear for everyone to see. But someone (in control), at this point, is too proud to admit that this is indeed a clear ENHANCEMENT. Post #335 could be implemented in about 15 minutes and put this bug to rest once and for all. [Bug 657900] Re: mount.cifs: permission denied: no match for /home/myuser/mydir/myshare found in /etc/fstab
I'm using 12.04. I can auto mount windows shares via fstab, and I have user-level scripts that consume these shares successfully. However, sometimes a window server is rebooted. When this happens, the auto mounting that occurred via fstab happened before the windows reboot and is therefore expired (unmounted). In my user-level scripts, I need a way to remount so the scripts don't fail. If I put sudo mount -a, into the script, that won't work because the automated script can't type in a password even if that user is a sudoer. mount -a (without sudo) also doesn't work because it gives error only root can do that. I've added the user flag to these mounts in fstab, but this too still doesn't give the user-script the ability to mount the windows share, you get an error: no match for /media/windowsShare found in /etc/fstab Please advise. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/657900 Title: mount.cifs: permission denied: no match for /home/myuser/mydir/myshare found in /etc/fstab To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cifs-utils/+bug/657900/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1243324] [NEW] Enhancement - Don't require enter key-press When Saving Abbreviations
Public bug reported: As you know, you can associate abbreviations to phrases in Autokey-GTK, so that while you are typing (anywhere), by typing the abbreviation, Autokey-GTK will replace that abbreviation with a longer phrase that would be more time-consuming to type outright. The GUI for associating an abbreviation with a phrase is slightly unintuitive. For example, follow these steps. 1) Go to one of the sample phrases that comes with Autokey-GTK. 2) In the right-pane, see Abbreviations:(None configured) and click the Set button (to the right). 3) Click the Add button and type ;test (no quotes), and do not press enter. 4) Immediately click the OK button. Unfortunately, your abbreviation will not be added, because you didn't press the enter key at the end of step 3. This usability-bug-report is suggesting that this additional step of having to press enter (at the end of step 3) is unintuitive and should not be explicitly required; pressing the OK button alone should suffice. Otherwise, the user becomes confused thinking that Autokey isn't saving the abbreviations they're adding. ** Affects: autokey Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: autokey (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: saucy ** Bug watch added: AutoKey Tracker #264 http://code.google.com/p/autokey/issues/detail?id=264 ** Also affects: autokey via http://code.google.com/p/autokey/issues/detail?id=264 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Tags added: saucy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1243324 Title: Enhancement - Don't require enter key-press When Saving Abbreviations To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/autokey/+bug/1243324/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1227569] Re: individual characters frequently corrupted
I'm experiencing this too after upgrading to Ubuntu 13.10. I was delighted to find this bug report, because I didn't want to have to explain the whole think myself. I was reading an article in Firefox when I noticed it. I had the article scaled up a knotch, and while scrolling text it would flicker a little as though it was having to re-render a paragraph 5 words at a time (while scrolling). This was happening super quick, but the flickering pattern (I was able to perceive) seemed like I'm describing. As you said, it doesn't happen every time you scroll, but sometimes (after scrolling) you'll stop (oh my, it just did it while I was typing: the p in the word stop became corrupted) and one or two letters on the entire page become graphically corrupted where you can't make them out (in and of themselves). Like you say, as soon as you hit the Print Scrn button the corruption goes away before you can capture a screen shot of it. Also, if you click the page containing the corrupted letter, the corrupted letter goes away. I don't have a camera handy, but it seems the only way to show it exactly what we are talking about is to take a picture of it with an outside device. Actually, I've just done a video capture that shows the corruption. I can confirm that this bug is also currently present in Ubuntu 13.04 Background: I've created a simple python script so that AutoKey-GTK can alphabetize lines of selected text I select in a text editor (like gedit). [Bug 1160558] Re: AutoKey-QT Missing Indicator After Launched as Startup Application
I can't remember 12.10 too well, but I can confirm that I have experienced the indicator actually being there as late as May of this year, in 13.04. For example, in the attached screen shot, you can see that the indicator was there in May of this year when I was running 13.04. To the left of the clock you can see an icon of the letter A. That was what it looked like. At some point, during the course of running 13.04, it disappeared and has remained gone ever since. ** Attachment added: Roulette2013-05-152013-05-15 04:51:19.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autokey/+bug/1160558/+attachment/3863567/+files/Roulette2013-05-152013-05-15%2004%3A51%3A19.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1160558 Title: AutoKey-QT Missing Indicator After Launched as Startup Application To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1160558/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1160558] Re: AutoKey-QT Missing Indicator After Launched as Startup Application
Also, I should mention that I've just reinstalled 13.04 (today), and the indicator still does not appear. I've learned to live without it for months; at least my hotkeys work in 13.04. The reason I reinstalled 13.04 today, is because autokey-gtk doesn't work yet in 13.10 (that upgraded to early today). I initially upgraded from 13.04 to the alpha of 13.10, and I would have stayed on that alpha had autokey worked. I waited until today to upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 again (this time beta), to see if somehow AutoKey was now fixed. But, since it wasn't, I had to reinstall 13.04. I can't tell you how much I appreciate seeing your activity on these 13.10 bugs. [Bug 1228250] [NEW] [Shift + Mouse-Scroll-Wheel] Does NOT Scroll Horizontally
Public bug reported: In Chromium, I can scroll horizontally using my mouse-wheel by holding down the shift key while scrolling the mouse wheel. Firefox is missing this very convenient page-navigation short-cut. Use Case: As my eyes age, I find myself always scaling up the web pages I read (by holding down crtl and scrolling my mouse wheel). Doing this, often makes the page exceed the width of my monitor (hiding the right-side of the text I want to read) and produces a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the page. At this point, since I've already used ctrl-scroll-mouse-wheel to magnify the page, it would be wonderful if I could use shift-scroll- mouse-wheel to horizontally-scroll the magnified page and therefore center the (previously cropped) text that I am wanting to read. Right now, it is plugged into a monitor that is powered on and I have the USB cable connected to both the device and my laptop, but the Laptop is acting like it simply isn't there and Ubuntu's Display Setting Utility is unable to detect the external monitor and this issue persists reboots. A Little Background (reason for purchasing): You'd think this laptop alone would already support two monitors, because it has both HDMI and VGA ports. However, I've confirmed that its built-in video card (and driver) only have the ability to display to one of these ports at a time; they're mutually exclusive. Ubuntu's Display settings utility does show the two monitors when I have both ports plugged up, but any attempts to display, to both, fails with a dialogs that weirdly flows down my screen while Ubuntu tries to automatically attempt to make it work at numerous resolutions. This is why I purchased the SIIG USB 2.0 to VGA Pro. I thought it would have its own little video card built-in, and give me what my laptop's own video card lacked. With the goal of extending my laptop to support two external monitors (instead of one), today I purchased a USB to VGA adapter: SIIG USB 2.0 to VGA PRO (JU-VG0012-S1) http://www.siig.com/usb-2-0-to-vga-pro.html - This USB VGA adapter, it doesn't seem to work at all. Right now, it is + This USB VGA adapter doesn't seem to work at all. I realize that USB will be slower, but that's not a concern for the simple business application that I intend to display on a 3rd monitor. [Bug 1227833] Re: No Driver - SIIG USB 2.0 to VGA Pro
I just installed this kernel and rebooted: 3.12.0-999-generic #201309190446 SMP Thu Sep 19 08:47:59 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Guess what. It worked (for the most part). The USB-VGA monitor showed up in Ubuntu's Display manager and I was able to run all 3 monitors at the same time. However, after adding this third monitor (using the SIIG USB 2.0 to VGA Pro), my second monitor can no longer get 1920x1080 resolution. For them all to work at the same time I had to set the resolution like this: 1440 x 900 - Laptop's Native Monitory 1440 x 900 - Laptop's HDMI Port's External Monitor 1152 x 864 - SIIG USB 2.0 to VGA Pro Monitor Before adding the SIIG USB 2.0 to VGA Pro Monitor, I had the two monitors set like this: 1440 x 900 - Laptop's Native Monitory 1920 x 1080 - Laptop's HDMI Port's External Monitor The SIIG USB 2.0 to VGA Pro is capable of higher resolutions, but when I choose them, my other two monitors turn off. Likewise, if I turn my HDMI monitor back up to 1920 X 1080 it turns off. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1227833 Title: No Driver - SIIG USB 2.0 to VGA Pro To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1227833/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1226754] [NEW] Can't launch Connection Profile Manager if already Remoting
Public bug reported: This bug is easy to reproduce. 1) Launch remmina, and remote into another computer. 2) Close the Connection Profile Manager (the window that lists all your connection profiles) 3) Try to launch the Connection Profile Manager. It won't launch. In Unity, if you close the Profile manager, you cannot launch it again until you first exit all your remote sessions. Instead, you should be able to open or close the profile manager regardless of whether you have remote sessions running or not. As is, if you accidentally close it, you must kill all your remote sessions before you can launch it again. ** Affects: remmina (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: precise saucy ** Description changed: This bug is easy to reproduce. 1) Launch remmina, and remote into another computer. 2) Close the Connection Profile Manager (the window that lists all your connection profiles) 3) Try to launch the Connection Profile Manager. [Bug 1205484] Re: Failed: Remmina Profile Advanced Security Negotiate
I understand that is it the freerdp package (that Reminna relays on) that is responsible for these failure in negotiation: https://github.com/FreeRDP/Remmina/issues/54 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1205484 Title: Failed: Remmina Profile Advanced Security Negotiate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/freerdp/+bug/1205484/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1205484] Re: Failed: Remmina Profile Advanced Security Negotiate
I primarily use Remmia for remoting into Windows workstations and servers because I like its GUI for managing the numerous connection settings to all these various Windows machines. However, sometimes Remmina won't connect to some servers or workstations. Oddly, when this occurs, I can successfully connect to the same machine (that Remmina can't connect to) using rdesktop: sudo apt-get install rdesktop With a command like this: rdesktop 192.168.1.1 -a 16 -g 1370x850 -u UserName -d domain.local '-rdisk 'home'=/home/user/Share' Why is rdesktop able to connect to some machines that Remmina can't? Answer: [Remmina Profile Advanced Security Negotiate ] fails to negotiate the correct security (RDP). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1205484 Title: Failed: Remmina Profile Advanced Security Negotiate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/freerdp/+bug/1205484/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1223093] [NEW] Can't begin Typing Until All Panels Are Fully Loaded
Public bug reported: Software-Center needs to be a multi-threaded application so that the user can begin typing their query BEFORE all panels are fully loaded. All load-intensive panels (of the software-center window) should be performed in a different thread than the the one that provides the search text-box-control. The search text box should loaded immediately, so the the user can begin typing immediately. You can decrease the perceived load time of this application by given the user something to do while the intensive portions of the window are loading. As is, the user must WAIT until the entire application is fully loaded before she can begin to type one character into the search box. When I use Software-Center, the first thing I do is type a search query. I would rather be able to type this upfront (letting the UI catch up with my query) rather than having to wait on the UI to finish loading for 9 seconds and then type my query. Am I alone?
