[Bug 1132562] Re: choppy sounds, lots of rewinds

2013-02-25 Thread Lucazade
Hi David!

I'll try fix=4 as soon as I can...
Btw there was already a fixed bug in launchpad some months ago about this
particular bug,
it was present especially on machine with Intel gma500.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to find the # of the bug report.

I believe that some patches to fix this bug are missing in the latest
pulseaudio release.
If you need any info let me know.

[Bug 1066484] [NEW] long delay at shutdown/reboot - network-manager doesn't close correctly

2012-10-14 Thread Lucazade

there is a long delay when shutting down or restarting the system.

not fixed.. the previous one is just a quick workaround.
the vt.handoff is a cool feature so it would be better to keep it, also not
disabled because it always worked in the past.
It allows a smooth transition from grub to plymouth splashscreen without any
screen flickering :)

I don't think it is X or kernel related... the black screen appears after grub
so when the framebuffer is opened.
I bet on grub v2.0 that doesn't handle vt.handoff=7 in a proper way.

Because if I temporary remove the grub_gfx_payload option from grub

any news?

btw it seems related to the latest patches in .22 kernel release about the i915

in fact if I blacklist completely the i915 module the bootup is ok..

I tried to pass 'acpi_backlight=video/vendor' and
'i915.enable_backlight=1/0' but without success.

i'll gather both dmesg and paste it here asap ;)

I'm saying that the screen goes black during the boot sequence (just
after grub) but then lights itself up again at lightdm (so when X goess
up)

In that black period I don't see the usual plymouth splashscreen neither
i'm able to switch to any virtualterminal to see what is happening. The
framebuffer is not opened or refreshed after grub.

[Bug 1053269] [NEW] black boot

2012-09-20 Thread Lucazade
Public bug reported:

after the latest updates I get a black screen during bootup... it seems related
to the vt.handoff=7 feature of grub.
Infact removing this I can see at least the virtualterminal during bootup.
Maybe it is not correctly patched the latest release of grub (2.00-5ubuntu1)

[Bug 914311] Re: vt.handoff 7 breaks psb_gfx driver

2012-08-19 Thread Lucazade
this fix is no more needed in Quantal.. it is necessary to install
xserver-xorg-video-modesetting and there are no more conflicts with
vt.handoff and plymouth.

Is it possible to include this package in the default installation?

2012-06-02 Thread Lucazade
@apw
reinstalled kubuntu 12.04 from scratch and then, after first bootup, I've
applied your package.
It fixes completely the startup process and there is no need of manual tuning
like in the past..

really thanks...

btw I don't know if gma500_gfx, included in kernel 3.4, will work well with
vt.handoff or it will require
this fix as well.. we'll see in ubu 12.10 :)

I had to apply my first workaround (present in original post) to get

Is it possible to fix this permanently also for kubuntu?

[Bug 914311] Re: vt.handoff 7 breaks psb_gfx driver

2012-05-23 Thread Lucazade
@Andy Whitcroft (apw)
thanks for the testing package.. going to try it as soon as I go back home on
my Acer751h.

Yes, I believe 8108 and 8109 are enough for the poulsbo chipsets out
there.. they are for the gma500, the others are for gma600 and Medfield
variants (usually not netbook but embedded devices).

I don't know if kernel 3.4 might solve the issue without blacklisting
the pci ids, I'll try it more in depth because I've already installed it
via xorg-edgers ppa (along side new xorg-mesa bits). Alan Cox, the
gma500_gfx author, is aware of the vt.handoff and plymouth issue so he
had probably solved in the latest kernel builds.

I'll let you know soon :)

[Bug 965953] Re: indicator applet with scroll arrows

2012-03-29 Thread Lucazade
I would say it is an indicator-applet bug because the same issue is present in
the xfce4-panel indicator when it is placed on the bottom.
It is easily reproducible in the network indicator when it populates the wifi
networks available, the list is updated but the menu container is not and it
show arrows to expand it.

[Bug 927952] Re: When I press the Print Screen button, it will not appear in Save Screenshot window.

2012-03-28 Thread Lucazade
@seb128
Then I'm wondering what is the point of still using GNOME as main DE if Ubuntu
devs don't like it.
Is it a good approach to patch everything in GNOME to adapt it to the Unity
context?
This behaviour imho create big discrepancies between the two projects. GNOME is
taking is own road and I believe
in future these projects will divert so much that some simple patches won't be
enough. Please fix this kind of issue :)

2012-03-26 Thread Lucazade
Public bug reported:

If I add the notification-area applet in gnome-classic panel there is
an extra battery icon beside the stock indicator-power.

If I disable the power plugin in dconf settings-daemon the extra useless battery

[Bug 965921] [NEW] gnome-shell most keyboard shortcuts not working

2012-03-26 Thread Lucazade
Public bug reported:

gnome-shell keyboard shortcuts stopped working. Specifically, Ctrl+Alt+t
no longer opens a terminal, my maximization shortcuts no longer work,
navigation shortcuts don't work.

The problem seems that gnome-shell 3.4 has switched to gsettings/dconf
for its keyboard shortcuts but Unity still uses gconf. System Settings
in Precise was patched to support gconf but it ought to support
gsettings also.
