Re: [Ubuntu-be] QWERTY Keypad resolution for older Toshiba Laptop - Model S2450-201 - edited correct

2010-03-09 Thread Manuel de la Peña
Glenn,

You are gonna hate me for this comment (I would) but
maybe physically changing the layout to match the one you know might be too
extreme for my taste. What about creating your own layout (example =>
http://people.uleth.ca/~daniel.odonnell/Blog/custom-keyboard-in-linuxx11) or
be as lazy as I am and memorize the UK QWERTY layout (why the heck
would Americans have their own ?!?!)

Maybe creating a layout that matches that one of the toshiba laptops is a
better option, specially because you can share it :-)

Hi *,

I'll there giving a hand to the guys from FOSDEM (second year in a run) but
will love to give a hand with the booth.

Regarding things to show, I have a proposal. I have been working with
desktopcouch and Ubuntu One quite a lot (I even have done my own app
http://www.themacaque.com/?page_id=406 ) and will love to show how to
integrate application with desktopcouch to allow the config and data to be
replicated between Ubuntu machines, I can show how it works and how to write
a small Quickly application that uses desktopcouch to store the data and how
later that data is replicated. I guess that would be a preaty cool demo and
I can always ask the desktop+ team to give me a hand (slides, images etc...)
with it, I met the guys in Dallas and I'm sure they will me more than happy
if we demo their new platform.

Let me know what you think.

Kr,

Manuel

[Ubuntu-be] DIPRO Ghent

2010-01-14 Thread Manuel de la Peña
Hi *,

I'd like to volunteer and give a hand on DIPRO in Ghent. I've added my user
name to the wiki and just wanted to let you know. I can bring a long my
Netbook with UNR as well as my more chunky laptop and digital camera (if we
want to take some picts), let me know if you want me to bring any of those
things (or all of them!).

Kr,

Manuel

[Ubuntu-be] New member

2010-01-14 Thread Manuel de la Peña
Hello *,

I just wanted to say hi and let people in the list know that you will be
seeing me around the list (and hopefully the meet-ups) from now on. Of
course a hello email would not be complete with out some info about me:

I am a software eng that move from the UK a year ago (it has taken me some
time to adapt to Belgium :P ) although I'm Spanish so you will have to
forgive me the fact that my Flemish is Null and my French is rubbish :(. I
use and develop for ubuntu using python and I'd love to meet up with you
guys at some point to try to steal some of your ideas for a little project I
am working on using desktopcouch (you can read more about it here:
http://www.themacaque.com/?page_id=406)

I hope to see you around, have some drink and promote Ubuntu,

Manuel
