I can confirm that CPU usage drops significally when vsync is disabled. I also want to report that the effect is not broken all the times. Strangely, sometimes its ok, sometimes its not. In addition, I notice that minimize effect is not always smooth (mostly in big sized windows) and I suppose this situation has to do with the bug. I think that this bug gives a pretty bad impression to the user, so in my opinion this bug should be marked as of high importance at all of the affected packages, given that the bug affects unity3d as well. It's the second thing you mentioned. Animations are occasionaly broken-or not as smooth as they should be when launching apps specifically from Unity's launcher. I already have 12.04 installed with updates till this moment. The issue is not as severe as it was in previous releases, but still exists. This lack of smoothness regarding desktop effects , makes ubuntu feel a bit heavy and that's the reason i'm reporting it. I Just installed the above mentioned repos(vanvugt/compizUnity) and updated my system. This fixed the bug but now a NEW BUG has occured: ~~When grabbing a window and moving it randomly, the pointer does not stay where it grubed the window but goes to another place either inside or outside the window. This happens either when grabbing the window from the unity panel and anmaximizing it by dragging , or just when dragging a non-maximized window. Can you confirm this? For example when moving windows, open effect, minimize etc. This problem makes my system slow and with a sense of crap. All other main distros do not have such problems so I suppose compiz itself is not a problem.
