[Bug 544830] Re: tuxguitar still looks for xulrunner-1.9.1
The ideal way to fix this is to not use versioned binary at all i.e. instead of doing xulrunner-1.9.2 --gre-version simply use xulrunner --gre-version. In Ubuntu xulrunner always links to latest version in main through the alternatives system. Check output of 'update-alternatives --list xulrunner'. -- tuxguitar still looks for xulrunner-1.9.1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/544830 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 543434] Re: Sync mobile-broadband-provider-info 20100302-1 (main) from Debian testing (main)
Daniel, libmbca is not present in Lucid. So I think it is safe to drop this change. Also since this library is neither present in Karmic (current stable) nor Hardy (current LTS) there aren't any problems with upgrades for officially supported upgrade paths. -- Sync mobile-broadband-provider-info 20100302-1 (main) from Debian testing (main) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/543434 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [ubuntu-in] Distributed File System
First thing I would suggest is trying to setup a NFS + LDAP kind of setup. This will be not be a distributed setup but rather a file system on central server shared by computers on network. It might be a bit hard to setup but works wonderfully when done. Second thing is glusterfs. I have never used it but just read about it. It is a distributed file system that can encapsulate NFS, SMB and other file systems. Onkar -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in

The reason default-jdk pulls different package on different architecture is because openjdk does not work correctly or is not available on all architectures. Is there a way that i can find and stop unnecessary apps from starting at login time I tried to check system-preferrences - start up app preferences and made some changes there but am afraid to make more changes in case something happens to the system and it breaks (normally i would have risked it but my work is mission critical and cannot afford to have my machine go down just yet even for a short while) Second - some apps - seem to make themselves permanently resident in the system tray even though i don't want them there - like rythm box, ktimer etc. Some of them can be configured to not appear on the system tray but others don't have any option. So any ideas on what i can do to 1. Stop such apps at start up 2. Stop apps from coming on the system tray without my specifying 3. Optimize login speed As per my observation after login till show of complete desktop, what takes most time is loading of gnome-panel including various applets. And IIRC, the clock applet is slowest of them probably because of the integrated calendar component. You may try removing clock applet from panel and see if that reduces the time. @Draycen, gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad* package do not depend on ubuntu-restricted- extras in any way. ubuntu-restricted-extras is a meta package which pulls lot of gstreamer plugin packages as well as Sun JRE package. @John, gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad has a midi plugin which needs freepats package to work properly. In India, where software patents are not allowed, there is no restriction on converting to/from mp3. Regards, Gora -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in Thanks Gora and Mehul There is an idea to add a plug-in to media players(open source)to automatically convert propritary to free format.developers may be able to do this. That way free formats get popular. What you are forgetting here is mp3 is lossy format. When you convert from a lossy format there has been already loss of some info. If you want best quality with free formats then convert from original data. Also for free formats to get more popularity they needs more support in hardware i.e. more audio players supporting vorbis/flac and more video cards doing on-chip encoding/decoding for theora/dirac etc. Onkar -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
