Same problem. Enabling any of the extra plugins (at least showdesktop, trailfocus, or snow) causes compiz to immediately crash. I have the same problem. I tried enabling the cube effect through the Desktop Effects capplet, and now compiz segfaults when it starts. It functioned before without the cube effect enabled, but now it won't started even with the cube disabled. I think I'm having a problem related to this bug. My ATI X1400 is not detected correctly. X tries to use the the ati driver, but when it starts something is not correct. The mouse appears as a diagonal line, everything is stretched diagonally so far as to be unreadable.
