[Bug 882427] Re: Toshiba Satellite L745D - internal mic not working

2011-11-02 Thread Paul Weiss
Thanks David, you mentioning my BIOS forgetting to mark the internal mic
gave me an idea. Upon further research, people with Windows 7 have also
been experiencing this bug also with the default install; I reinstalled
Windows 7 and used the default sound card drivers instead of the
official Conexant drivers and that's why I think my mic worked in
Windows 7.

If you have 'Fast Boot' enabled in the BIOS Ubuntu will not recognize
the microphone. Here is my ALSA information after I switched back to
'Normal Boot':

http://www.alsa-
project.org/db/?f=0e81ce3afc0effc162ae19c608137bd5969a0f44

And the good news is that my internal microphone is now working, but I
had to reinstall Ubuntu to get my microphone working unfortunately.

[Bug 882427] [NEW] Toshiba Satellite L745D - internal mic not working

2011-10-27 Thread Paul Weiss
Public bug reported:

I have a Toshiba L745D (AMD A6-3400M). I cannot get my internal mic to
work.

My sound card: Conexant CX20585

I've tried this:

echo options snd-hda-intel model=thinkpad | sudo tee -a
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

echo options snd-hda-intel model=ideapad | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d
/alsa-base.conf

echo options snd-hda-intel model=asus | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d
/alsa-base.conf

...but that didn't work either. Apparently that works for different
notebook models with the same sound card. I also tried muting the right
mic channel; that also worked for someone on a different model.

Here is my ALSA information:

http://www.alsa-
project.org/db/?f=6b57a7faecf5525ccb5212a6f60ee9d1bc792838

Any solutions out there?

Ok, after I rebooted another time, the network icon disappeared. I
still could connected to my network. In the space where the icon used
to be there was a blank space. Clicking on the blank space did nothing.
A reboot fixed this issue.

Here's something more. When I re-added Workspace Switcher, the Show
Desktop applet crashed and a window popped-up asking me if I want to
reload it or not. Two other applets crashed, but I can't remember what
their names were. Mind you, I don't get an option to reload them when
they disappear after a fresh boot.

[Bug 399599] [NEW] Samsung ML-2251N giving printing errors after update

One of the cups updates a few months ago has broken my ML-2251N

[Bug 399601] [NEW] File Roller 2.26.1 - clicking once on a file causes the file to stick to the cursor

2009-07-15 Thread Paul Weiss
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file-roller

This is a real annoying bug. At random times after opening a compressed
file, and clicking once on a file, the file gets stuck in double-click
and drag mode. If you leave the window with the file attached to the
cursor and click on the Desktop (for example), the file leaves the mouse
cursor, but as soon as you move the cursor inside the File Roller
window, it re-attaches itself. The only solution is to close File
Roller and restart it.

[Bug 399601] Re: File Roller 2.26.1 - clicking once on a file causes the file to stick to the cursor

2009-07-15 Thread Paul Weiss
Yes, this bug is reproducible.

Here are the steps you should take to reproduce it:

1. click on a file with in a compressed package

2. the file will get stuck to the cursor

The above will happen at random intervals, all be it - often.

2009-04-02 Thread Paul Weiss
Public bug reported:

I'm trying the new 9.04 beta 1 now and just yesterday I tried to print
something. My printer is a Samsung ML-2251N, and CUPS sees it as a
ML-2250. It has always worked perfectly in Ubuntu. After I tried to
print a PDF and website, all I got was Processing in the printer tray
icon. Just to make sure it was not my printer, I plugged it in to my
notebook that is running Ubuntu 8.10 - the pages printed out.

[Bug 352872] [NEW] Flash crashes Firefox and stutters in Ubuntu 9.04 Beta 1

2009-03-31 Thread Paul Weiss
Public bug reported:

I just installed Ubuntu Beta 9.04 and the ubuntu-restricted-extras
package. I visited liveleak.com to view some videos... At first the
video that I was viewing began to play with only sound and then after I
tried to fast forward the video, it then would begin to stutter.
Eventually Firefox crashed and I had to Force Quit the application.

[Bug 337026] Re: RAID 0 partition disappears after crash (9.04 Alpha 5)

2009-03-03 Thread Paul Weiss
I have a Gigabyte P35-DS3R motherboard. It has two RAID chipsets:
jmicron and Intel. The jmicron chipset is turned off and I'm only using
the Intel ICH9R chipset. I have never had any problems with RAID 0 in
Ubuntu 8.10.

Just a note, I also had this memory corruption error when installing
Ubuntu 9.04 Alpha 5 using the alternate CD where I was not able to use
the created RAID partition. I then installed Ubuntu 8.10 using the
alternate CD to clear any errors and then right away I installed Ubuntu
9.04 Alpha 5 with out any problems.

In the end it seems like the new version of dmraid has some sort of bug
that is causing this problem.

[Bug 337010] [NEW] Wireless notification pop-up not moved after notification tray icons are moved to a different area (9.04 Alpha 5)

2009-03-02 Thread Paul Weiss
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 9.04 Alpha 5 and dmraid with a RAID 0 partition. To
begin, I tried to put my computer to sleep, but for some reason I could
not resume. I rebooted but I failed to boot up Ubuntu. I got the error

[Bug 328855] [NEW] Firefox (while viewing sites with sound) doesn't close when using wine at the same time

2009-02-12 Thread Paul Weiss
Public bug reported:

Firefox doesn't close properly when viewing a site with sound (ALSA) and
using wine (OSS) at the same time. When ever I play Warcraft 3 and tab
back into Firefox and then close it, I have no crashes (I can restart it
after I exit Warcraft 3) as long as there is no sound used with the
site. If I for example view a site with sound (Youtube) while playing
Warcraft 3 and then close Firefox before I close Warcraft 3, Firefox
doesn't completely shut down; I have to use htop to close it so that I
can use it again. Most of the time the actual Firefox window closes, but
the processes are still there.

[Bug 316899] [NEW] ndiswrapper corrupts checkgmail - password always requested at start-up

2009-01-13 Thread Paul Weiss
Public bug reported:

After I installed ndiswrapper checkgmail always asks for the password at
start-up, even if the password is saved. This bug occurs in Ubuntu 8.10
32/64 bit. The funny thing is that when you do a Ctrl-Alt-Esc, the
password remains saved. As soon as you uninstall ndiswrapper the
password is saved even after a full boot-up. I tried to delete the
checkgmail preferences file to see if the new created one would fix the
problem, but no luck.

[Bug 316902] [NEW] 180.22 Nvidia driver produces libgl.so.1 error on AMD64 systems

2009-01-13 Thread Paul Weiss
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 8.10 AMD64 if you install the 180.22 Nvidia driver after a
fresh Ubuntu install you will get a libgl.so.1 error during the driver
install. The driver will complete the installation and you will be able
to use compiz without problems. The funny thing is that if you install
the 180.22 driver over top the 180.22 driver again, you will not get the
libgl.so.1 error. The only problem that I did encounter is a problem
with wine. All wine applications (including winecfg) have a 30 second
delay before starting. And if you try to run an opengl application it
will fail to start and give you the output that I have included in the
attached file. To fix this problem you can install the 177.82 driver and
then the 180.22 driver over top of it so as to not have any libgl.so.1
errors in wine.

[Bug 316962] [NEW] Ubuntu 9.04 (Alpha 2) Alternate CD does not recognise my RAID partition

RAID partition. I'd like to add that when I tried upgrading dmraid to
