Re: [Ubuntu-be] New website - content missing, helpd needed

2008-09-22 Thread Philippe Piquer
I'll do that tomorrow for the french language

Philippe

2008/9/22 mongolito404 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

 Hi,

As some may have noticed, there is two missing pages from the (in progress)
new website that need to be ported/updated from the old (currently in
 production) site.
  * Financial Information - see
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-belgium/+bug/272039
  * Event-Team - see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-belgium/+bug/273257

For those who want to help, the workflow is to register on both Launchpad
and the Drupal site(1), ask for the right to create and edit pages(2), and
edit the pages. This way you can directly work online without lossing time
waiting for someone else to be ready to manage your participation(3). When
adding new pages, you have to opportunity to save them without publishing
should you want others (with the required permission) to review it before
 going online.

Any one who want to help with the website (or other subjets) is invited to
monitor (mail, rss, etc) the ubuntu-belgium bugs page in launchpad (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-belgium/+bugs) for open tasks. If you
know Drupal, look there, we need your help.

 (1) You should soon be able to use your Launchpad identities to autheticate
on the Ubuntu-be Drupal site. Launchpad beta tester could already do it.
Others must wait for the end of the beta of the Launchpad OpenID support.
 (2) Do it in bugs comment and don't forget to specifiy your Drupal user
 name.
 (3) Off course, the first time you will have to wait until I (or an other
admin) grant you the editor right.

2008-08-02 Thread Philippe Piquer
Public bug reported:

Well , this one looks strange.
yakuake-kde4 is running.
I run an app from the KDE Menu or I try to add a plasmoid from the internet
using the so fat not working plasmoid dialog if I hit F12 to show the
yakuake, it looks like I've launched the app thru it ... error and running
messages are displayed ...
Nothing crashes , but it's disturbing

Same thing here ...

what I found :
knetattach in kde3 is part of kdebase-bin, kdebase-bin-kde4 does not have
knetattach in it.
knetattach.desktop exists in both KDE3 and KDE4 but KDE4 one is empty.

[Bug 243690] [NEW] kde4 logon failure...

2008-06-28 Thread Philippe Piquer
Public bug reported:

Hi,
 currently running
Linux kubuntu 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Jun 18 14:43:41 UTC 2008 i686
GNU/Linux
Description:Ubuntu 8.04
Release:8.04
KDE4.1 b2

I think this started with KDE4.1b1 : after logon I received somme message boxes
about errors (I think it was about D-Bus) but as it didn't affect
fonctionnality , I didn't care too much...
Then the day when b2 was released , but before uprading, KDE4 freezed, and was
unable to logon again ...
After I enter my login/password and choose a KDE4 session, logon splashscreen
appears, HD icon stays on for about 45s. then Settings icon stays for 4 or 4
minutes and then I go back to the blueish session login background with nothing
more than the arrow cursor.

So I tried removing ~/.kde4(does nothing), enabling debug in kdm(black
screen and freeze), running kdm-kde4 (t's ugly!), ... with no luck.

background with the cursor but that's all...
This behavior appeared just the day before the upgrade from 4.1b1 to b2 ...

Additionaly I cannot run an KDE4 app inside KDE3 it crashes

Please use English wherever possible when posting to this list. Even
if the issue at stake is really really specific to the Dutch speaking
population, please try to give at least a summary of your message in
English. If you're not able to do that yourself, please ask someone to
  do this for you.

This requires some extra effort. The reward is manyfold:
  * You'll hopefully think twice before making the extra effort, so less
 blah.
  * More people within Belgium able to at least somewhat understand what
you want to say. Many Dutch, French, German, Italian, Arab, Turkish,
Kurdish,... speaking people have at least basic command of
  Shakespeare's language.

I'd also add Spanish. I've just joined the list after visiting your
stand during FOSDEM yesterday. I'm now living in Brussels, and I'm glad
of being in contact with you the ubuntu-be crew. Many thanks for your
English effort, it's very much appreciated!

  Antonio Zugaldia [EMAIL PROTECTED]

  Koen Wybo
slaaf in opstand omwille van 'eendracht maakt macht'.

Let me put my two cents in on this one, since I have a more then fare
languageportfolio to put against what I'm telling here.

It's not bad to speak your own language at all, but indeed we live in a
multilingual nation and the issues mentioned are indeed a fact.

But we should not forget that we also have a concensus in what I think
is doing this in English and where needed and only when needed use the
own language, but only when you really considered if English is a
stopper for it. Perhaps also usable is just post a summerized version in
mail and include the real thread you(d like to discuss in attachment.

I'm just summing up solutions here so we aren't getting into a dispute
over language here on the maillist, cause I know out off experience that
disputes like this can turn into an communitykiller.

 Just my 2 cent.

If you not like it I'm open for resonable solutions to be discussed, but
I am still in favour off English by a long run.

Phil
By the way , ubuntu-fr is also on the t-shirt path :)

Good to hear that :)

Anyway, I will soon accept orders for the t-shirts and polo's for Belgium.
Here's a small summary again:

  - sizes available: S to L
  - colors available: blue and black
  - they have a 4.5 x 4.5cm Ubuntu logo stitched in the top left
  - photo of a polo: http://ubuntu.juliux.de/shirt/polo.jpg
  - pricing: 11 euros for t-shirt (12 euros for XXXL or larger), 16
euros for polo (17 euros for XXXL or larger)

I do hope that these are the right prices, but because I'm not entirely
sure yet about the exact price, incl. shipping, and I'm not sure yet how
much you'll have to pay extra to send them to you (in case you can't pick
them up yourself in Turnhout)

I'll try to find out more soon, and I'll start accepting orders when I
know for sure how much all this will cost.

Re: [Ubuntu-be] Support Point

2007-04-22 Thread Philippe Piquer

You can order cd' via shipit : http://shipit.ubuntu.org ,
http://shipit.kubuntu.org after registering ... they are free
They also can be downloaded and burned but that is at your (little) expense.

 Hi,

I volunteered to be a support point, but where can I find (or get)
information to get to CDs, DVDs, etc.?

Also I need information about all the things that are expected for me to
do.

Can anyone lighten my darkness?

Bert.

Hmmm that might be a little short
would it be possible to meet on the freeway service station before Brussel,
it would give some extra time to get there without hitting the 10.000 rpm on
my bike :)
