[Bug 1625072] Re: lttng-modules 2.8.0-1 ADT test failure with linux 4.8.0-11.12

2016-12-14 Thread Robert Hooker
rbasak: Updated the initial post with SRU info, I will admit I don't
know enough about this package to know how to stress test it to be sure
there are no regressions in actual functionality, but I wanted to make
it so it would at least work instead of failing to build and be 100%
useless. Updating to the full stable point releases would be better.

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+ lltng-modules in yakkety is not compatible with a 4.8 kernel and does not
build at all. This was fixed with the 2.8.1 stable release update. I
cherry-picked just what was required from 2.8.1 for 2.8.0 to build on a 4.8
kernel in this SRU because there are other commits that aren't related to this
problem.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ Install the package, if it builds and is usable its a positive step forward.
+

[Bug 1643566] Re: [i915_bpo] Intermittent display outage with external monitor

2016-12-13 Thread Robert Hooker
Hmm, no problems related to it in that log, i915 would be more verbose.
I just noticed the trace in the subject was caused by a lid close/open
and is most likely not related. It would be worth trying this out to
rule out the Intel X driver, save this as /etc/X11/xorg.conf

[Bug 1643566] Re: [i915_bpo] Intermittent display outage with external monitor

2016-12-08 Thread Robert Hooker
The full dmesg on the machine with a kernel newer than
4.8.0-28.30~16.04.1 after it happens and not just the trace would be
much appreciated as well. That patch series really should have fixed it.
The full /var/log/kern.log would work even better.

It seems like this is affecting other keys that it shouldn't as well?
Volume up and down on my thinkpad stopped autorepeating so it takes 30
presses to raise the volume or lower the volume fully now.
