[Bug 1093289] Re: Buffer overflow in pctcpu

2012-12-28 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Hi Matthew and ZhengPeng

Matthew, thanks first of all for the report and patch. Furtunately we
(pkg-perl Debian Group) are subscribed here, so noticed that.

I have updated libproc-processtable-perl with your patch in Debian and
uploaded as 0.45-4 in unstable. So you can sync it as it is to Ubuntu
raring. I have keep the following changelog entry to give credit to you
(but renamed the patch to match the Debian bugnumber):

 libproc-processtable-perl (0.45-4) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * Add 696874-fix-Buffer-overflow-in-pctcpu.patch.
Fix for buffer overflow in pctcpu. On systems with more than 9 logical
CPUs, a process can use more than 999% of CPU and overflow pctcpu.
Thanks to Matthew L. Dailey and Zhengpeng Hou (Closes: #696874)
 (LP: #1093289)

Regards,
Salvatore

This is due to a bug in libcrypt-ssleay-perl afaics, and the build seems
to use version 0.57. Version 0.58-1 from Debian should then fix that.

[Bug 564070] Re: Please sync libgtk2-perl from Debian (fixes FTBFS)

2010-04-16 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Hi Nathan

As discussed on IRC:

Here is the build-log for lucid/amd64 in my PPA
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/44475213/buildlog_ubuntu-lucid-
amd64.libgtk2-perl_1%3A1.221-6.lucid~ppa.1_FULLYBUILT.txt.gz

The issue is reproducible by building the -4ubuntu1 (or equivalently -5
in Debian) with new libgtk2.0-dev (= 2.20).

The changes -4 to -4ubuntu1 in Ubuntu are:

libgtk2-perl (1:1.221-4ubuntu1) lucid; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/git-fix-gtkassistant.patch,
debian/patches/git-fix-gtkbuildable.patch:
- upstream git changes to fix build issues on gtk 2.19 (lp: #445621)

 -- Sebastien Bacher seb...@ubuntu.com Fri, 12 Mar 2010 13:28:39
+0100

libgtk2-perl (1:1.221-4build1) lucid; urgency=low

  * rebuild rest of main for armel armv7/thumb2 optimization;
UbuntuSpec:mobile-lucid-arm-gcc-v7-thumb2

 -- Alexander Sack a...@ubuntu.com Sat, 06 Mar 2010 13:34:18 +0100

The changes in Debian from -4 to -6 are:

libgtk2-perl (1:1.221-6) unstable; urgency=low

  * Add patch to fix test failures in GtkAction.t. Don't make assumptions
about the number of proxies associated with the action. Thanks to Niko
Tyni for reporting (Closes: #576493).
  * Refresh debian/copyright to revision 135 of Format-Specification for
machine readable copyright file in DEP5 and update copyright for debian/*
packaging.

 -- Salvatore Bonaccorso salvatore.bonacco...@gmail.com Sun, 11 Apr

libgtk2-perl (1:1.221-5) unstable; urgency=low

  [ gregor herrmann ]
  * New patches git-fix-gtkassistant.patch and git-fix-gtkbuildable.patch:
upstream git changes to fix build issues on gtk 2.19; thanks to Sebastien
Bacher for forwarding these patches from Ubuntu to us (closes: #573564).
  * Set Standards-Version to 3.8.4 (no changes).
  * Convert to source format 3.0 (quilt). Remove quilt framework.

  [ Damyan Ivanov ]
  * add -a option to xvfb-run invocation

 -- gregor herrmann gre...@debian.org Sun, 04 Apr 2010 16:59:37 +0200

So the changes -4 - -4ubuntu1 and -4 - -5 in Debian are mostly the
same, with addition of bumping Standards-Version, converting to source
format 3.0 (quilt) and add -a option to xvb-run invocation. Therefore:
if these changes are to mutch, for lucid to enter, please consider to
apply the patch which was added in the -6 release in unstable:

[Bug 564070] [NEW] Please sync libgtk2-perl from Debian (fixes FTBFS)

2010-04-15 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Public bug reported:

Hi

Please sync libgtk2-perl 1:1.221-6 from Debian unstable into lucid. It

Here the needed information (sorry has not a Ubuntu system with
requestsync at hand at the moment):

Source: libgtk2-perl
Version: 1:1.221-6
Sync from Debian unstable

changes are the first entry of the following changelog enty:

 libgtk2-perl (1:1.221-6) unstable; urgency=low

   * Add patch to fix test failures in GtkAction.t. Don't make assumptions
about the number of proxies associated with the action. Thanks to Niko
 Tyni for reporting (Closes: #576493).

[Bug 485411] Re: [needs-packaging] tuxcmd - new version 0.6.70

2009-11-20 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Hi

I'm the maintainer of tuxcmd and tuxcmd-modules in Debian. I have
updated tuxcmd some days ago, the only issue rgarding sync into Ubuntu I
can se would be, if syncing packages in Source Format '3.0 (quilt)' are
not supported yet? If yes, you can simply sync it from Debian unstable
(or wait some days now, ~ 9 days until it is in testing, and sync from
there).

Hope that helps,

[Bug 398078] Re: Sync w2do 2.2.2-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main).

2009-07-11 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Hi

One comment on this: the upload has apart from the minor debian/*
packaging changes the following changes included in the new upstream
part:

-
2009-06-29 Jaromir Hradilek jhradi...@gmail.com

  * src/w2do.pl, src/w2html.pl, src/w2text.pl: Increased version for a
release.

  * src/w2do.pl: Improved statistics listing. Statistics now include finished
/ all tasks ratio for both per group and overall progress.

2009-06-28 Jaromir Hradilek jhradi...@gmail.com

  * src/w2do.pl: Fixed issue with `leaking' colours. Coloured output should
now work correctly in most terminal emulators.

  * src/w2do.pl: Fixed statistics listing. Overall progress bar is no longer
displayed when the task list is empty.
-

Thus in particular the color-output problem is solved. And therefore it
would be really good to have 2.2.2-1 in karmic instead of 2.2.1-1.

A preliminary package for testing is in my PPA:
https://edge.launchpad.net/~carnil/+archive/ppa?field.name_filter=w2dofield.status_filter=publishedfield.series_filter=karmic

ok and in next month I will reinstall Ubuntu

I just checked it again, now in a up to date jaunty. I don't think I
should simply ask to close this bug. But I'm still not able to
reproduce the crash. The following, if you have eth0 www.getmyip.org
in preferences, then first giplet probes eth0, then www.getmyip.org,
if it get's an ip from eth0, it will show the local ip. If eth0 is
missing in preferences, then it probes only www.getmyip.org, but if
this site is down, then giplet will show only the text giplet. With
your last preferences eth1 www.getmyip.org monip.org, if there is no
eth1, then it will probe www.getmyip.org, if from there there is also
neither an ip returned, monip.org is probed.

I can anyway try to ask upstream author about this Bug. On the other
side there was LP#307170. Lyman Li added a timout functionality to
giplet in 0.2.1, but this version didn't reach jaunty, since I
submitted the request for sync from Debian to late LP#354139.

If you have a testing environment, you can try to install the giplet
version in my PPA (the one in Debian sid).

Hi

I tried to reproduce your crash, but cannot on a up to date jaunty.
Could you still reproduce the crash? Does it also appear after updating
jaunty? As you see from dependency list, python2.6 is the same you have
(2.6.2~rc1-0ubuntu1).

Bests

[Bug 323497] [NEW] Please sync giplet 0.2.0-1 from Debian unstable (main)

2009-01-31 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Public bug reported:

Please sync the new upstream version of giplet (currently 0.2.0) into
Ubuntu. Debian unstable has now 0.2.0-1.

giplet (0.1.8-2) was previously synced from Debian unstable.

The changelog between 0.1.8-2 and 0.2.0-1 is the following:

giplet (0.2.0-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
  * Drop 01_fix_about.dpatch patch. Upstream does not list anymore packager
names in about dialog window.
  * debian/control: Add intltool to Build-Depends-Indep.
  * debian/docs: Re-add now README file since it now contains also a note
from current upstream author Lyman Li.
  * Remove README.source from source package since we currently are not applying
modification to the upstream source. Drop dpatch from Build-Depends.

 Hi all,
First of all, I am using 0.1.1 (as per changelog.gz) or
 0.1.2-0ubuntu2 which was in gutsy.

Yepp, this version is really outdated in intrepid unfortunaltely :(.
0.1.2 version has still the configuration done by ~/.giplet directory,
after 0.1.6 it was switched to gconf.

Salvatore (if you or whoever is the maintainer) what I would request
or/and suggest is that put the version as a PPA if possible and get it
 built for Intrepid.

I'm only the maintainer of the Debian package, which get's synced into
Ubuntu. Since intrepid is released the version there will remain on
the gutsy version, that a bit a pity, so here are the packages for
intrepid in my PPA:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/carnil/ubuntu intrepid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/carnil/ubuntu intrepid main

I uploaded version 0.1.8-2 there. Note: yesterday I prepared 0.2.0 the
newest upstream version for Debian, soon will also upload this version
to PPA.

Secondly, it gets deleted from the panel if the resource (in this case
getmyip.org is not up) . The only way to get it back working is to
remove .giplet/ and then add the panel again to gnome-panel.

I assume, the problems will lower with the new version, hopefully. Can
you test it with the version from my PPA? Whit that, a line as
www.getmyip.org whatismyip.org should work, if getmyip.org is down
it should probe the second www.whatismyip.org.

Also moving from getmyip.org to whatismyip.org also makes it hanged.

There is actually also a need for a good error message in case the URL
is down (but that's another bug)

The new version 0.2.0 implements a tooltip functionality, which
should show No IP detected, if all given interfaces fails.

Would be great if you can test the 0.1.8 version, since 0.1.2 is
really old.

Kind regards
Salvatore

Exactly also why I retrive the IP from external sites. First to avoid

A possible error you would get, can be the following Error: 4

Yes this should be possible. E.g. Add as Interfaces line instead of
only www.getmyip.org the following
www.getmyip.org www.whatismyip.org

If now www.getmyip.org is down, it will probe for www.whatismyip.org,
since giplet can retrive the information also from this second site,
it should display the external ip.

Does this solve your question?

[Bug 315234] Re: giplet showing IP to wrong lan cards

2009-01-11 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Hi

Note, that in the default giplet has configuration line for interfaces
to be eth0 www.getmyip.org. If eth0 is not configured, then the second
interface value is checked. So if you have something like eth0
www.getmyip.org and eth0 is not configured, it will show the external
ip which is get from www.getmyip.org.

Does this somehow helps on your problem? If you want to show the
external ip, simply left www.getmyip.org. If you want to have the IP of
a specific interface, make an entry of only that interface. if the
interface does not have curently an IP, then giplet will show the text
Giplet.
