Hi Matthew and ZhengPeng Matthew, thanks first of all for the report and patch. Furtunately we (pkg-perl Debian Group) are subscribed here, so noticed that. I have keep the following changelog entry to give credit to you (but renamed the patch to match the Debian bugnumber): libproc-processtable-perl (0.45-4) unstable; urgency=low . * Add 696874-fix-Buffer-overflow-in-pctcpu.patch. Fix for buffer overflow in pctcpu. On systems with more than 9 logical CPUs, a process can use more than 999% of CPU and overflow pctcpu. Thanks to Matthew L. [Bug 398078] Re: Sync w2do 2.2.2-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main).
Hi One comment on this: the upload has apart from the minor debian/* packaging changes the following changes included in the new upstream part: - 2009-06-29 Jaromir Hradilek jhradi...@gmail.com * src/w2do.pl, src/w2html.pl, src/w2text.pl: Increased version for a release. * src/w2do.pl: Improved statistics listing. Statistics now include finished / all tasks ratio for both per group and overall progress. 2009-06-28 Jaromir Hradilek jhradi...@gmail.com * src/w2do.pl: Fixed issue with `leaking' colours. Coloured output should now work correctly in most terminal emulators. * src/w2do.pl: Fixed statistics listing. Overall progress bar is no longer displayed when the task list is empty. - Thus in particular the color-output problem is solved. And therefore it would be really good to have 2.2.2-1 in karmic instead of 2.2.1-1. A preliminary package for testing is in my PPA: https://edge.launchpad.net/~carnil/+archive/ppa?field.name_filter=w2dofield.status_filter=publishedfield.series_filter=karmic Kind regards Salvatore -- Sync w2do 2.2.2-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/398078 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

For my side, it's ok and in next month I will reinstall Ubuntu I just checked it again, now in a up to date jaunty. I don't think I should simply ask to close this bug. But I'm still not able to reproduce the crash. The following, if you have eth0 www.getmyip.org in preferences, then first giplet probes eth0, then www.getmyip.org, if it get's an ip from eth0, it will show the local ip. If eth0 is missing in preferences, then it probes only www.getmyip.org, but if this site is down, then giplet will show only the text giplet. With your last preferences eth1 www.getmyip.org monip.org, if there is no eth1, then it will probe www.getmyip.org, if from there there is also neither an ip returned, monip.org is probed. I can anyway try to ask upstream author about this Bug. On the other side there was LP#307170. Lyman Li added a timout functionality to giplet in 0.2.1, but this version didn't reach jaunty, since I submitted the request for sync from Debian to late LP#354139. Salvatore (if you or whoever is the maintainer) what I would request or/and suggest is that put the version as a PPA if possible and get it built for Intrepid. I'm only the maintainer of the Debian package, which get's synced into Ubuntu. Since intrepid is released the version there will remain on the gutsy version, that a bit a pity, so here are the packages for intrepid in my PPA: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/carnil/ubuntu intrepid main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/carnil/ubuntu intrepid main I uploaded version 0.1.8-2 there. Note: yesterday I prepared 0.2.0 the newest upstream version for Debian, soon will also upload this version to PPA. Secondly, it gets deleted from the panel if the resource (in this case getmyip.org is not up) . The only way to get it back working is to remove .giplet/ and then add the panel again to gnome-panel. I assume, the problems will lower with the new version, hopefully. Can you test it with the version from my PPA? Whit that, a line as www.getmyip.org whatismyip.org should work, if getmyip.org is down it should probe the second www.whatismyip.org. Also moving from getmyip.org to whatismyip.org also makes it hanged. There is actually also a need for a good error message in case the URL is down (but that's another bug) The new version 0.2.0 implements a tooltip functionality, which should show No IP detected, if all given interfaces fails. Would be great if you can test the 0.1.8 version, since 0.1.2 is really old. A possible error you would get, can be the following Error: 4 requests received from your IP address in the last 60 seconds (current max is 3 but automated agents should not query more often than once every 10 minutes) So if this is not the cause I will forward your bugreport upstream directly to Lyman Li (the developer of giplet). You could also try putting up 0.2.0 if you want and I can take a spin at it. I just uploaded 0.2.0 to my PPA for intrepid so you can also test this version. Hope we could resolve your issue soon, Kind regards Salvatore -- giplet hangs from time to time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/307170 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 315234] Re: giplet showing IP to wrong lan cards
Hi On Wed, Jan 21, 2009 at 02:53:28PM -, d4v1dv00 wrote: what if http://getmyip.org is down? does Gplet support other server address? Yes this should be possible. E.g. Add as Interfaces line instead of only www.getmyip.org the following www.getmyip.org www.whatismyip.org If now www.getmyip.org is down, it will probe for www.whatismyip.org, since giplet can retrive the information also from this second site, it should display the external ip. I indeed was able to reproduce this hangig of giplet one time, but was not able to get the same hangig result twice during this time when getmyip.org is down. My Interfaces line is www.getmyip.org www.whatismyip.org, when getmyip.org is down it tries to get the ip-information from www.whatismyip.org. Does this work for you? [Bug 93989] Re: giplet does not display on the bar

[Bug 315234] Re: giplet showing IP to wrong lan cards
Hi Note, that in the default giplet has configuration line for interfaces to be eth0 www.getmyip.org. If eth0 is not configured, then the second interface value is checked. So if you have something like eth0 www.getmyip.org and eth0 is not configured, it will show the external ip which is get from www.getmyip.org. Does this somehow helps on your problem? If you want to show the external ip, simply left www.getmyip.org. If you want to have the IP of a specific interface, make an entry of only that interface. if the interface does not have curently an IP, then giplet will show the text Giplet. -- giplet showing IP to wrong lan cards https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/315234 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 307170] Re: giplet hangs from time to time
Hi Shirish Agarwal I could not reproduce this behaviour with 0.1.7 and later. Do you have any particular setup? If you are still using giplet, could you please test the newest version uploaded by Adrien? If the bug could sucessfull reproduces it could be forwarded upstream.
