[Bug 782389] Re: DVD drive doesn't work on MacBookPro8,2

2011-05-19 Thread Shaun ONeil
Marked mine as a duplicate of this; just a note to say I've tested
-i386, -amd64, and -amd64+mac images; all affected for natty-release.
(Same hardware - macbook pro 8,2 with matshitadvd-r UJ-8A8)

TEST_UNIT_READY failed (err_mask=0x4) in dmesg appears to be the
specific error.

[Bug 755470] [NEW] Installer cannot find cdrom

2011-04-09 Thread Shaun ONeil
Public bug reported:

MacBook Pro 8,2, tested against beta1, daily-april 5th, and daily-april
8th (using -beta1-dvd-amd64.iso for beta1, and -desktop-amd64+mac.iso
for dailies.)

ata2 appears to be connected to /dev/sg0, node 21:0, but mount complains
it's not a block device.

Re: [ubuntu-uk] Find a Router's IP address

2010-10-19 Thread Shaun ONeil
On 19 Oct 2010, at 16:54, Cornelius Mostert corneliusmost...@gmail.com wrote:

 Hi
 The scenario is as follow:

 3. You find a router / WiFi Router that is in use and therefore you can NOT
 reset it

 5. You need to brows to the routers config web page to make some changes (you
assume the default admin and password for the router) BUT you do NOT know the
 IP address

Something to consider here, is in a sensible/default configuration, the admin
port is unlikely to be exposed to the WAN side of the router. You'll most
likely have to join the LAN side.

From this side, it's going to be much easier to find. Sniff traffic if there's
other wired clients, or just go poking at .1 in the common segments. For
sniffing, google which prefix the manufacturer uses for mac addresses, and
watch the wire for it.

Thermal paste shouldn't dry. It stays a paste. It really is just a lick-um
stick-um job. No need to watch paint dry :)

Re: [ubuntu-uk] UFW and IPv6 Tunnelling

 Hi

I have setup a machine to tunnel IPv6 traffic over IPv4 using
Freenet6. I am also using radvd to auto config the other IPv6 capable
clients with IP's from the assigned /56 .With IPv6 forwarding I can
use IPv6 from any machine on the LAN through the tunnel.

However when I turn on ufw on the tunnelled machine I lose the IPv6
routing. I have enable IPv6 in ufw.

Any idea's what I need to do to get the machine to forward the IPv6
 requests from the LAN?

My google-fu has failed me on this one.

 Any help appreciated.

This one caught me too. Have you looked in /etc/default/ufw and changed the
IPV6= line ?

[Bug 203649] Re: xen's xm create fails at losetup stage

2008-03-18 Thread Shaun ONeil
http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2007-12/msg00494.html

appears to help ( I didn't need to touch initrd, just used the -xen provided by
ubuntu)
so currently I'm not sure if this is a fault of xend (borking on the loopback),
or xen-tools (creating a non-functional config).
