apt-get install lubuntu-desktop^

[Bug 1071231] Re: PCManFM deletes current directory when pressing cancel and nothing is selected

2012-10-25 Thread SteVe Cook
That's a bit nasty. At least it's recoverable as they go to the bin.
If you select a file or two, then press delete only the files are deleted, even
if you select all the files in the folder and pcmanfm remains open. Which is
what one would expect.
Strangely, if you middle-click on a folder, to open it in a tab then press
delete noting happens.

Quax, you're correct, I miss-read it as 67.
As for blacklisting, I never tried it myself untill now and it really doesn't
seem to work with video drivers. although a friend seems to have managed with a
different OS.
I just uninstalled xserver-xorg-video-sis, this also removes
xserver-xorg-video-all which is just a meta package, and worked from there.

[Bug 1061239] Re: system hangs after selecting certain menu items inRecovery Menu

2012-10-03 Thread SteVe Cook
Discovered which package it is - friendly-recovery 0.2.25

Tried this on four different machines.

If I select Drop to root and run 'service network-manager start' I get
the following error message:

Could not get the system bus. Make sure the message bus daemon is
running! Message: Failed to connect to socket
/var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory.

/var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket does exist and dbus is not running. If
I drop to root and start dbus then exit back to the menu and select
Networking the system still hangs after agreeing to remount filesystem
read/write.

[Bug 1044820] Re: Failed to load module trident (loader failed, 7)

2012-09-27 Thread SteVe Cook
Sorry, I disabled the edgers PPA but forgot I needed to purge it.
I've now got your version installed as you can see.

xserver-xorg-video-trident:
  Installed: 1:1.3.6-0ubuntu1.1
  Candidate: 1:1.3.6-0ubuntu1.1
  Version table:
 *** 1:1.3.6-0ubuntu1.1 0
500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/tjaalton/ppa/ubuntu/ quantal/main i386
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 1:1.3.6-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main i386 Packages

This boots into a blank display instead of the scrambled one I got
previously but the module does appear to load.

Xorg.0.log attached.

It should behave as you say really. What size are the icons compared to
the panel on the others?

[Bug 976656] Re: window buttons not clickable at the bottom border of the screen

2012-04-15 Thread SteVe Cook
If the panel is 24 px and the buttons 22 px and they're centred on the
panel, then the behaviour you describe is to be expected as you're
clicking on the panel not the button. So it looks like there was a
fault previously that has been cured.

[Bug 979739] Re: Confirm to replace files when copying files onto the Desktop

2012-04-12 Thread SteVe Cook
Able to reproduce with out an encrypted /home or USB media

1 - open a folder in PCManFM (NOT Desktop folder)
2 - select a file
3 - hit ctrl+c
4 - click somewhere on the Desktop
5 - hit ctrl-v

Doesn't occur with the following though

1 - open a folder in PCManFM (NOT Desktop folder)
2 - select a file in a folder
3 - hit ctrl+c
4 - open the Desktop folder
5 - hit ctrl-v

[Bug 977106] [NEW] Explanations in privacy settings are rather vague

2012-04-09 Thread SteVe Cook
Public bug reported:

The explanations in privacy settings are rather vague and don't explain
what is being done to what. The implication is that the settings are to
prevent/allow Canonical/Ubuntu from seeing the data where as most of the
settings appear to be for Zeitgeist. A more comprehensive explanation
is required. I would write one but I'm not sure what the settings are
for.

The relationship of the two buttons in the Recent Items tab is baffling.
Does the RH button save things for an hour, day, week, etc. or is that
what the LH Delete History button deletes. They would be better side-by-
side.

Lets you choose from thousands of applications available for Ubuntu

This was all done before I reported the bug. This machine also has
Lubuntu 11.10, Ubuntu Precise, CrunchBang and Fedora 16 LXDE on it, non
of which show the fault. I've also run the beta1 live CD just to see if
any of my customisations could cause it and the problem still appears.
According to sensors there is no over heating problems and the CPU fan
is increasing speed as the CPU temp starts to rise. I'm currently
running with a different video card but the same (Nouveau) driver to see
if it's the video that is causing it.

[Bug 768791] Re: USB creator won't select ISO for creating boot USB

2011-08-15 Thread SteVe Cook
It would appear that USB-creator actually scans your /home folder for ISO files
but, due to the rather small window it looks like there is only one ISO listed.
If the app is enlarged, to full screen, it becomes clear there is more than
one ISO listed and the scroll bar becomes more obvious.
Would suggest making the file/ISO window some what larger.
