[Bug 581896] Re: Brasero claims for ghost missing apps and libs

2010-05-19 Thread Steffen Heyne
Hi,

exactly the same problem here on two notebooks after upgrading from ubuntu
9.10. to 10.04. I've tried to make a copy of a CD.
Just reinstall Brasero doesn't help.

[Bug 579704] Re: Specified mouse pointer size broken in Lucid

2010-05-15 Thread Steffen F.
I found it affects all windows, independent from the program running on a clean
32 bit installation with ATI graphics.
I tried to get ComixCursors-Green-Regular, which was the choice inside windows
and infront of the desktop. But it changed to ComixCursors-Black-Large on
window borders, window title bars and panels. sudo update-alternatives --config
x-cursor-theme did not change anything, so I switched off compiz and this did
the trick. After reactivating compiz changes were accepted and the pointer
displayed the same cursor on window borders as well as inside window boundaries.
I'll try to reproduce that on a clean install on Wednesday. The affected
computer is my girlfriend's one and she'll kill me if I try to reproduce the
bug. Especially as the same solution was reported not work from another user in
the German community

[Bug 580352] Re: Firefox user agent reports wrong version number -- 3.0.6 instead of 3.6.3

2010-05-14 Thread Steffen Banhardt
Thanks for reporting this. I can't reproduce this, can you please check
if this happens with a new firefox profile too? (To get a new profile
open a terminal and enter 'firefox -P' and create a new profile [you can
switch back to your old profile later with the same command].) If open a
new tab and go to 'about:config' and search for the values of '3.0.6' -
it may be that an extensions has altered the correct version number.

[Bug 578654] Re: Firefox mixes up multiple profiles and logins

2010-05-14 Thread Steffen Banhardt
Thanks for taking the time and report this. This is not a bug but
intended behaviour. If you start firefox the profile gets locked (if you
open the profile you'll find a file called 'lock') and no other instance
of firefox may use this profile. Otherwise both instances would try to
write files in this profile and the profile could get corrupted. The
only solution in this shared enviroment is to close one instance before
using another. (It may also become a problem if you use different
versions of firefox on the same profile. This is often breaking the
profile!)

for the SRU, because it is clearly a regression ?

[Bug 551121] Re: unable to power off with kernel 2.6.31-21 generic

2010-04-30 Thread Steffen Neumann
Jeremy, are you sure that's fixed ?

Both the bug title and karmic kernel are 2.6.31,
the problem is gone was after upgrading the full distribution,
including a new kernel 2.6.32 version.

People who continue to use karmic are left in the cold,
especially if security fixes roll in.

I'd vote to re-open this, unless it is fixed in 2.6.31

Steffen

[Bug 570330] [NEW] Settings dialog inserts spaces between filename patterns

2010-04-26 Thread Steffen Goetz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus-actions

Hi,

I’m using this version:

  Installed: 2.30.2-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2.30.2-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 2.30.2-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

on Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release:10.04

I have discovered a problem in the settings dialog.

The dialog for matching filename conditions inserts spaces between the
patterns separated by semicolons. It will add spaces each time you
navigate to the dialog again, moving the patterns further apart each
time. When saving the settings the additional spaces will be saved too.
With the additional spaces between the patterns only the first pattern
will match in the nautilus context menu.

[Bug 568014] [NEW] nautilus actions: Issues with the export assistant

2010-04-21 Thread Steffen Goetz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus-actions

Hi,

I’m using this version:

  Installed: 2.30.2-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2.30.2-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 2.30.2-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

on Ubuntu
  Description: Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
  Release: 10.04

I have an issues when using the export assistant. The problem looks like
this:

After choosing the destination directory the dialog does not enable the
Next button, it is still disabled (see attached screen shot). After
entering a name in the entry box and some clicks on different
directories and directory levels in the file selection box the Next
button is eventually enabled and the export can go on.

I think there is something wrong there, it should be enough to simply
choose a directory for the Next button to be enabled.

Best regards,
Steffen

[Bug 485012] Re: padre not open after crash when open file directory from the menu

2010-04-17 Thread Steffen Mueller
This is an issue with the libwx-perl package. I could reproduce the bug
with:

perl -e'BEGIN {  @INC = grep {not m(/usr/local)} @INC; }use Wx;
Wx::SearchCtrl-new-SetDescriptiveText(foo);'

Where the BEGIN{...} is just necessary to shadow the modules I manually
installed from CPAN, which would otherwise load my own copy of Wx.

On a virgin ubuntu, this would cause the same problem:

perl -MWx -e'Wx::SearchCtrl-new-SetDescriptiveText(foo);'

[Bug 472668] Re: bad diction in english original makes translation difficult or impossible

2010-04-03 Thread Steffen Eibicht
Hi,

thanks for your work in fixing/ updating the Kubuntu Docs.
At first I am very thankful that you have deleted these awful repeatings of
hints how to open applications.

Unfortunatly there are still (new!) texts which are dicted in an awful
way. They even do not make sense in english!

Example:

»acronymKDE/acronym is similar to phraseGNOME/phrase in many
ways, but there are distinct differences which distinguish
acronymKDE/acronym as a desktop environment. «

two times differences...the first one is a »distinct difference« which
»distinguishes«... to distinguish something is the nature of a difference ;-)
Anyway, to get a good translation to some degree (it is then still far far away
from perfect) I'll have to cut out words and the sense would be for sure
different to the sense which was intended by the original Author.
If we do it like this, we do not need to translate. Then every language team
can create their own texts. Which makes no sense either.

praising something as good, distinct and so on is generally okay. But
the result should be that the text still makes sense.

With this, the translation of Kubuntu Docs is AGAIN very difficult, I
have to cut out lots of words - the sense is different in german --
resulting in the same as before.

There are of course still lots of more examples for bad dictions in the
(new) Kubuntu Docs. It is still very difficult to translate Kubuntu Docs
and the results are not professional.

Please review your texts and change your mind regarding formulation
style.

Thanks regards
Steffen

[Bug 544596] Re: Songs not transferred from music store to U1 storage

2010-03-26 Thread Steffen Krumbholz
Well. I bought another album and everything was fine this time. The
problem with the first one is still there. Some files downloaded. Some
not. So, I was watching what exactly happens...

What if the freezing downloads to U1 storage have sth. to do with
filenames? In my case there are different remixes of songs. In the store
they are called differently - Song1 (single) and Song1 (remix). But
the downloaded file on U1 storage is always named - Song1.mp3

[Bug 544596] Re: Songs not transferred from music store to U1 storage

2010-03-24 Thread Steffen Krumbholz
Bought a 17 track album some 14+ hours ago. Still 3 tracks are not
downloaded from the shop to Ubuntu One. They have the status Preparing
for download.

Also some files changed mysteriously their downloaded/preparing status.

And at the moment I have one track more locally in Rhythmbox than in the
U1 web interface. In other words all three locations are out of sync
now.

2010-03-24 Thread Steffen Krumbholz
...so I did another test. Deleted everything in Rhytmbox AND Ubuntu One
storage. Then started Rhytmbox again and connected to the music store.

The Your Downloads Page again reports exactly the same three files as
Preparing your download and all other tracks as Downloading to your
storage. But nothings happens at all! No files are shown in the Ubuntu
One web interface.

I hope that helps fixing the issue.

[Bug 529696] Re: brasero can't copy audio cd (useless error message)

2010-03-20 Thread Steffen Röcker
I patched it to use icedax and it works now for me.
Maybe brasero should depend on icedax by default as rhythmbox also uses brasero
to copy audio CDs.
(which doesn't work, it creates a new CD with sr0 as a file to copy)

** Summary changed:

- Un-helpfull message when attempting to copy audio cd
+ brasero can't copy audio cd (useless error message)

** Patch added: cdda2wav.patch
   http://launchpadlibrarian.net/41444030/cdda2wav.patch

I got a similar error message that cdda2wav is missing.
After I installed it (it's now called icedax) it still didn't work.

[Bug 522331] [NEW] Regression: ACPI wakeup broken after 2.6.31-19 - -20 update

2010-02-15 Thread Steffen Neumann
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I am running linux-image-2.6.31-20-generic on an D945GCLF2
intel Atom mainboard as a media TV PC, with an up-to-date karmic-i386.

The system was successfully waking up at configured recording times
with linux-image-2.6.31-19-generic, and stopped once I enabled karmic-proposed
to fetch 2.6.31-20 which fixed an unrelated USB problem.

The system does not boot using this test script:
http://www.vdr-wiki.de/wiki/index.php/ACPI_Wakeup#ACPI_Test_Script

Any help appreciated.

Yours,
Steffen
