[Bug 2069244] [NEW] Help contents file not found

2024-06-12 Thread Tim Duncan
Public bug reported:

Just installed the games-minesweeper package via apt-get and game plays
fine. However, when I go to Help > Contents then Firefox opens with a
page:

File not found
Firefox can’t find the file at /usr/share/sgt-puzzles/help/en/index.html.

And when I go to Help > Help on Mines then Firefox opens with a page:

File not found
Firefox can’t find the file at /usr/share/sgt-puzzles/help/en/mines.html.

If I browse in Files to /usr/share/sgt-puzzles/help/en and double click
either index.html or mines.html the same error page comes up. However,
if in Firefox I go to File > Open File and open index.html or mines.html
the page opens fine. Permissions on all files in the folder are: RW-R--
R--

Disable 'download-installer' using pre-seed

2022-10-14 Thread Tim Duncan
Hi Everybody,

My name is Tim and I work as a Senior Systems Engineer for Servers
Australia, a large server hosting provider.

We run a LOT of preseeded Ubuntu installations and have noticed that in
newer versions of Ubuntu, it's hanging for around 5 minutes before
proceeding with the installation. Before the hang, we can see console
output showing "menu item 'download-installer' selected".

I cannot find how to change this option, however.

I've gone through all the output of 'debconf-get-selections --installer'
however, there is nothing in here mentioning the 'download-installer' menu
item.

I also noticed that when installing ubuntu manually from an ISO, it does
pop up asking if we want to update the installer before proceeding. I'm
only assuming this is the same menu item, however, perhaps I'm missing
something as I can see the 'download-installer' component is part of the
netboot iso as per: https://d-i.debian.org/doc/internals/ch02.html

So my question is, what do we need to add to the preseed file to tell
Ubuntu to NOT update the installer, and just install the system with the
current version of the installer? Or is this not what's happening, and
perhaps the reason for our installation hanging is related to something
else?

Thanks!!

[Bug 1663462] [NEW] weather-util needs updated due to NWS changes

2017-02-09 Thread Tim Duncan
Public bug reported:

In Aug 2016 the National Weather Service changed the URLs for retrieving
weather info so the weather-util (weather CLI application) needs updated
to v2.1 or higher to work.

More info from the developer Jeremy Stanley:

Updated correlation data correcting this was merged into the master
branch of the official upstream Git repository within a day of the
NOAA/NWS change, and is included with all releases since 2.1 (latest
release is 2.2). The data files are also backward compatible with
the 2.0 release if you just want to use the new correlation files
and not upgrade the software. For further details, see the homepage
for the project at:

http://fungi.yuggoth.org/weather/

If you're using Debian/Ubuntu packages, I hope to have updated
versions of these released soon. The relevant bug against the
weather-util-data package is:

https://bugs.debian.org/835264

It also has some additional workaround instructions, which may help.

[Bug 1659717] [NEW] Software Updater - showing Details doesn't display whole download

2017-01-26 Thread Tim Duncan
Public bug reported:

When you click on "Details" on Software Updater while it's downloading
an update you only see the bottom half of the current file being
downloaded. This is the behaviour regardless of the size of the window.
Once the download finishes the terminal window that shows the install of
the update displays normally.

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using: Ubuntu 16.10
2) The version of the package you are using: 1:16.10.7
3) What you expected to happen: Expected to see the whole line for the update
being downloaded plus all the files already downloaded.
4) What happened instead: Only saw the bottom half of the current download.
