I would like to comment that the bug is still in hardy, but the problem is it will not even open up the Floppy drive, as well as USB drives and MP3 Players as well. I need to manually mount them in order to make all these work. So I got a workaround here. sudo mount /dev/sda1 /media/usb will allow a mount of thumbdrive So if any one need to mount / plug in both USB Thumb drive and MP3 (4) Player at the same time, sudo mount /dev/sda1 /media/usb sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /media/usb2 Where /media/usb is the thumbdrive location, assuming thumbdrive was plugged in first. Floppy wise, then sudo mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /media/floppy Well Floppy drive are usually in /dev/fd0 , unless someone have both Zip drive and floppy, then one of them would have been /dev/fd1 And one thing to note is that to mount a floppy, a filesystem must be specified. This is not true for thumbdrive and MP3(4) Player. Why? Both uses FAT32 what? Furthermore, for Floppy that do not mount using Hardy tried my solution, it would have the original Floppy Disk Drive shown in Menu to become dban-1.0.7 and a new link called floppy 0 Why? (Oh yes click on the dban-1.0.7 button will result some error message which is shown below) Yes, my locale is Chinese so I translated the error message into English: Unable to mount volume Unable to mount volume dban-1.0.7 Detailed Message: mount: /dev/fd0 has either mounted or /media/floppy0 is busy mount: According to mtab, /dev/fd0 has already been mounted to /media/floppy0. ** Attachment added: This image is to show 2 of them , namely dban-1.0.7 floppy0 shows at the same time. One point to note is that when a person decided to unplug the USB device like thumb drive or MP3 Player, it will show Unable to Unmount Volume Volume 'My Disk' (Which is the name I gave to my thumb drive, this varies from each USB devices) possibly mounted through command-line manually. Detailed Message: Device to unmount is not in /media/.hal-mtab so it is not mounted by HAL. Notice somewhere near the recycle bin icon, on the bottom right of the image, there is some message. It is as follows: Writing Data to Device Before deleting the device 'San Disk Cruzier Micro' (Which is my thumb drive's brand), there are data to be written on. Please do not unplug the device or disconnecting it. PS: This message is not shown during my attempt to remove my MP3 Player. I did not copy, edit. move any files. Not even view. Last but not least, on the previous image shown there is a dban-1.0.7 button. If I right click on that, it will show Open, Open from New Window, Delete (Greyed, which is not clickable / available), Rename (Greyed), Mount and Rescan respectively, from top to bottom. Supurisingly, when I right click on the floppy0, it will show Open, Open from New Window, Delete (Greyed, which is not clickable / available), Rename (Greyed), Unmount respectively, from top to bottom. All that does not work with my SanDisk thumbdrive (1GB) I remembered I did able to use thumbdrive in Hardy, but maybe some updates (kernel??) caused it unworkable? Even if I were to install ALL gstreamer plugins (Latest from Synaptic Package and AutoMatix 2) All Real Video can only play audio, no video shown.It will ask user to find packages from repository to install the plugin required even I had installed as I mentioned. However, in Totem Xine, Video is shown but no audio with the same Real Video files and nothing is being prompted. (Any on the net will do,actually.) The attachment is one of the example only. Even in Totem (Graphical), Real Video can only be heard audio (Without Video) if you chose Totem-Gstreamer and it will prompt you for the package to install for the play of Real Video every time you play the Real Video (Any will do,serious.). However, whether if you chose Yes or No to find the package, I will still get to hear only audio because the package:Gstreamer FFMpeg plugin has already installed before I even start to play the video! If you chose the Option 2, Totem Xine, things would not get better. It got Video but no audio! Therefore, in the end, I could see but hear nothing in Totem XIne.Nothing will be prompted. One fact to note is that it does not look like Totem bug (Although possibly) because other media players like VLC,Xine (Through xine-ui)and XMMS can have only audio but no video is played.(Same as Totem-Gstreamer, except they does not prompt user to install a new package that you did not installed.) Surprisingly, with the correct video and audio configuration, you can play Real Video perfectly with BOTH video and audio by Mplayer. (Too bad it does not have Repeat option, it is too lame to press the play button every time when I want a repeat.) It does not happen on Windows Media Video format but for AVI, then I am not too sure because through Internet without saving to disk, it does not have the problem on videos does not work but in the other bug report, Bug #108769 in totem (Ubuntu) shows that there is problem on video not working especially AVI format. Behold TV 609 FM
Здравствуйте. Вот решил отписаться. Собственно что имеем: Ubuntu 7.04 (по-моему ядро 2.6.20.16 (на конце точно 16)) + Behold TV 609 FM + Nvidia 8800gts + Core 2 Duo на iP965 ASUS P5B Итак, для начала, тюнер естественно из коробки не заработал, поэтому пролопатив гору форумов сделал так: 1. В /etc/modporbe.d/alsa-base закомментировал строчку начинающуюся с install saa7134... 2. В этой же папке создал файл saa7134 с содержимым: options saa7134 card=67 secam=d 3. Далее ставим пакеты sox, tvtime Запускаем tvtime, сканируем каналы: Изображение на экране появилось и это +, а вот звука нет и это -, :), Тюнер умеет передавать звук через шину PCI, пробуем его заставить делать это: 4. В терминале делаем modprobe saa7134_alsa 5. И еще раз в терминале sox -r 32000 -w -t ossdsp /dev/dsp1 -t ossdsp /dev/dsp 2/dev/null (4 команда добавляет еще одно звуковое устройство (/dev/dsp1), связанное с saa7134, 5 перенаправляет поток с него на основное (/dev/dsp). Команды можно прописать в автозагрузку (/etc/rc.d/rc.local). Подскажите пожалуйста: Стояла 6,10 - драйвер на NVidia ставил без вопросов(8800GTS), сначала устанавливал build-essential потом ctrl+alt+f1 /etc/init.d/gdm stop sudo -s -H cd ляляля sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.03-pkg1.run /etc/init.d/gdm start И все ставилось замечательно!!! Загрузчик Grub
Доброго времени суток. Подскажите пожалуйста как правильнее и грамотнее сделать? Было 2 винта, на одном ХР, на другом Убунту 7,04. Установил долбанную Висту, естественно загрузчик Grub она затерла, а пункт загрузки Убунты в своем загрузчике не добавила. Как мне его теперь вернуть, или к примеру добавить пункт загрузки к виндовому загрузчику? Я думаю что данный вопрос интересует многих. Заранее спасибо. Тюнер Beholder 609
Здравствуйте. Есть собственно Beholder 609 на Ubuntu 7.04, установлены все драйвера (Nvidia), поставлен TVtime. Поплясав вокруг около 1,5 часов с кратковременным постукиванием в бубен удалось отобразить картику с антенного входа, причем качество довольно таки нормальное. Но есть одно НО! ТВ тюнер умеет передавать звук через PCI шину (под виндой все отлично работает), как заставить его это делать под Ubuntu 7.04? (я конечно понимаю что можно соединить проводком аудиовыход тюнера с аудиовходом на звуковухе :) , но все таки хотелось бы обойтись без него).
