Adding Protection to Ubuntu Entries subsection A piece of instruction reads Add --users : printf menuentry '${title}' ${CLASS} --users {\n ${os} ${version} Actually it should be --users \\ 2. Adding Protection to Other Entries subsection Instructions in the box read: sudo sed 's/--class os /--class os --users /' -i /etc/grub.d/30_os- prober I think --users should also be changed as in the section above (I did not test this). The thing is that in case of plain menuentry instruction (without printf) --users work fine. But if there's printf in front of it the actual menuentry is generated in grub.cfg without those quotes. The system appears to recognise the printer but nothing gets printed. Have several times deleted and added the printer - following the installation instructions. No result. Have also updated to 12.04 on a netbook, and this device picked up on the printer when connected and went off on its own and found a driver which I was then prompted to accept the installation of via a terminal window. This did not happen with the PC. Able to print OK with the netbook. Of some concern - during this process on the netbook I was prompted to enter username and admin password on a separate pop up window. Several entries ( all correct ) were all rejected as incorrect but this did not prevent printer installation. May be a few problems here. Adding, Removing and Updating Applications https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/add-applications/C/index.html leads to 404 (the closest existing match most probably is https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/add-applications/C/index.html ) 5. The Debian Apt User Manual http://www.debian.org/doc/user-manuals#apt-howto apparently does no more exist on that page (no such anchor) (the closest existing match most probably is http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/apt-howto/ which is marked Obsolete Documentation) Browsing the web documentation reveals some more astonishing facts: https://help.ubuntu.com/11.04/add-applications/C/index.html does not exist at all, even if in launchpad code an entry http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-doc/ubuntu-docs/natty/files/head:/add-applications/ exists. For oneiric and precise the pages https://help.ubuntu.com/11.10/add-applications/C/index.html and https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/add-applications/C/index.html do not exist, and I did not find a related launchpad code entry. 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System - About Ubuntu Release independent 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center not applicable (web pages on ubuntu.com) 3) What you expected to happen Consistent help information in the web 4) What happened instead Dead links, outdated information To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/1019989/+subscriptions -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1019989 Title: dead links in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/1019989/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
