[Bug 1284635] Re: IBus does not support certain keyboard layouts

2014-07-26 Thread bapoumba
2 fresh installs of lubuntu Trusty daily and lubuntu Utopic daily on a
desktop and a laptop respectively with azerty keyboards.

Both installs done twice with the following conditions :

- English language selected in the installer qwerty keyboards during the
install and after rebooting at the end of the install. Only installing the
French language packs allow to choose azerty keyboards. iBus not removed or not
exited.
- French language selected in the installer azerty keyboards during the
install procedure and after rebooting at the end of the install.

The installer should ask for both the environment language AND the
keyboard layout when English is selected. Some users are experimenting
difficulties entering the wifi passphrase during the install procedure
due to improper keyboard layout (using ethernet here for installs). Many
users use English interfaces with keyboards that are not of a US layout.

[Bug 185693] Re: [Hardy] Desktop Folder reported twice changing language in automatic changing folder name

2008-06-29 Thread bapoumba
I stumbled on this bug after a fresh hardy install on a new computer. I
installed the system in French (by mistake, but I'm in France) and
switched to English after the install was completed, not removing the
French localization.

Both Bureau and Desktop files were present (all the other ones got
properly updated). Mounted files were shown on Bureau, which remained
the actual desktop, when default screenshots were sent to Desktop for
ex.

I played around with symlinks with no success (showed as broken).
Choosing English language at GDM and accepting the locale update got it
straightened up.

it looks a little difficult to have a default setting.
Once again, this may be a moot point if there is a global environment

Same issue running a regular upgrade on gutsy today. I have not seen
this reported on the forums, so I assume it may be due to a corrupt
package download on my side. Anyway, postfix could be reinstalled after
remove/purge with dpkg, and the upgrade could be performed after that.

[Bug 81219] Re: [Feisty] Second volume in a USB drive not mounted

2007-09-19 Thread bapoumba
This applies to gutsy too.

Tried this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3317634postcount=10

It works once, and only once. I have done this, several times in a row
now.

Step to reproduce:

1- blkid (relevant part part only)
/dev/sdd1: LABEL=LIFEDRIVE UUID=1234-5678 TYPE=vfat

If /dev/sdd1 properly added to /etc/fstab:
/dev/sdd1 /mnt/LIFEDRIVEvfatuser,noauto 0 0
the vfat partition on the Lifedrive mounts.

2- Disable drive mode on the Lifedrive

3- Enable drive mode again:
blkid
/dev/sde1: LABEL=LIFEDRIVE UUID=1234-5678 TYPE=vfat

The /dev/sd*1 has changed. And so on (first time I tested, blkid returned
/dev/sda1)
I cannot mount by UUID either.

2007-09-13 Thread bapoumba
Okay, after getting help from a friend, I removed network-manager and
network-manager-gnome. Same bug symptoms.

Removing remaining network-manager dependencies: dhcdbd, libnl1-pre6,
libnm-util0 solved the problem.

So this is clearly not an avahi bug. Could someone reassign this bug,
and may be point me towards relevant original bug report, if any? Many
thanks :)

[Bug 138895] [gutsy] wired static IP doe not hold

2007-09-11 Thread bapoumba
Public bug reported:

This is a laptop.
Home wired network with DHCP : no problem.
Work wired network (same card) with static IPs get disconnected from network
after one to 5 minutes.
Restarting /etc/init.d/networking allows to have network access for 1-5 mins.

Three files attached, config at work, network down and network up.

Not sure where to start looking, this may be a duplicate of some avahi
bugs, but I'm not internet savvy. Please let me know which infos to
provide (network and cables have been checked by techs and are ok.
Thanks :)

[Bug 134568] Re: Evolution Mail plugin segfault

2007-08-30 Thread bapoumba
The log has no crash. Is your issue fixed now?
Yes, I stated in previous comment that I was attaching the logs if they could
be of any use.
I had switched to Thunderbird in the meantime, not modified any evolution conf
file to keep it default, so I cannot tell how this got fixed. But running
evolution to get the logs with gdb, after installing the files you recommended,
shows not errors or crashes. Working now and using it :)
Thanks for all the work, and sorry for being so dumb with bug reports ;)

It's a pretty straightforward internal announcement, really. But I think
there's scope to give it a bit more of a push, if we can find the right

longer to work on each release.

What would you guys recommend, if anything?
Pushed it to UWN #45 (work in progress).

[EMAIL PROTECTED] has already been notified by Bruno Patri

before the strings get frozen (but not big concern however).

Hello,
as far as forums, if you want to discuss your idea, the Community Cafe
is the most suitable:
http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=11
You have to register to post a thread (part of spamming protection, sorry).

We have a Community Market, but it's for users who want to sell stuff:
http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=38
and it does not get as much traffic as the Cafe (if you post a thread,
within minutes its on another page ^^)

In Art and Design:

You'll reach all the graphics geniuses.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if this was not the kind of infos

Bye bye Breezy in Community news, just before Feisty translations, so
that end of breezy is followed by news on feisty ;-)
Please someone check if landmarks are ok, and may be add Thin client
and Launchpad integration. I do not know much about these two ones.

Cheers,

I'd make that near the top - it's almost as important as a new release :)

2- calls for Ubuntu book feisty update (Community News ?)

Re: www.candidats.fr

2007-02-01 Thread bapoumba

Amicalement,

Isabelle

[Bug 80424] Re: [[edgy] epiphany freezes with dbus error message

Filling that from Firefox ;-)
Please see gdb-epiphany.txt from a terminal in same workspace, right after the
freeze. All that worspace got frozen too, including the terminal window, so I
am not sure the backtrace is complete. Started gdb from Already running
programs instructions using epiphany PID.

Could neither run gdb from a tty (guess that was not smart to try) or from
another workspace :

(gdb) handle SIG33 pass nostop noprint
SignalStop Print Pass to program Description
SIG33 NoNo Yes Real-time event 33
(gdb) set pagination 0
(gdb) attach pid 9963
Illegal process-id: pid 9963.
(gdb) q

killall epiphany did not work. Had to kill -9 9963 (current epiphany
PID).

Hope that helps, thank you for your time.

Please read the entire document. All feedback is welcome. Especially
feedback regarding communication between us forum ambassadors and you
developers. For example in what way should we report to you about
  interesting trends and wishes ?

I haven't reviewed the ForumAmbassadors document recently, but in answer to
your question above, I think that the most useful and compatible way to
transfer this information is in the form of news. It would be great to have
a weekly forum news roundup which highlighted activity which might be of
  interest beyond the forums themselves.

This would be much more effective than individuals attempting to pass
specific issues from forums to teams one-by-one. A hypothetical forum
  update might include, for example:

  - A summary of testing feedback in the new testing forum for a recent
milestone release, with a hyperlink to the full thread
(http://www.ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=201), which would be of
interest to the QA team

  - A summary of a thread discussing a new Ubuntu feature (proposed, under
development or released), giving user feedback and suggestions which might
be of interest to the developer working on it

  - A summary of a thread where users are struggling with a particularly
common or severe bug

  - A summary of a thread where forum users are discussing their reactions to
a recent change in the Ubuntu community, such as a new team or new
appointment, which might be of interest to the Community Council

The forums represent our largest window into the opinions of the user
community, but it is far too large for project leaders and developers to
monitor themselves. By summarizing important general-interest threads,
this information could be brought to a wider audience in a clear and
  unobtrusive way.

One possible vehicle for this is the Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter, which is
regularly published by the Marketing Team (thanks!). Perhaps a section in
the newsletter could be devoted to the forums, a few responsible citizens
from the forum community could spend a bit of time each week to fill it in
with the week's events from their perspective. I've CCed their mailing list
  to discuss this idea.

The editors would need to be selective about what is published, and consider
issues in the context of the project as a whole. They must focus on
concrete, general-interest issues, and avoid vague or speculative topics.
The Ubuntu community would rely on them to filter this information for the
  benefit of all concerned.

  What do you think?

Great idea - I'm sure the rest of the UWN team will also welcome this.
I'll be happy to help the other mods with editing the newsletter,
although I won't be able to do this job myself for these few coming months.
Whenever you edit the UWN, join #ubuntu-marketing on freenode, where we
discuss it (almost nonstop) in realtime. This way, you will also know
where we are currently editing (wiki or gobby server).

Incidentally - CC'ing the people involved in the forum ambassadors
 discussion.

Re: livebox sous ubuntu

2006-10-23 Thread bapoumba
me suis inspirée.
