I posted this bug here because I didn't know about berlios, and because you wanted me to test the svn version in another bug (which I did). So I assumed that this is the place for all reports. I was wrong... :) Anyway, I want to help you with SPE, so I will post my reports to the berlios. SPE is great editor/ide for me. I am a complete Python beginner, so probably I wouldn't be useful as SPE developer/bug fixer (at least for now). [Bug 155109] Re: Erratic volume control behaviour with different USB audio devices
As someone noted above this bug is also present when using creative xmod. It seems to be some kind of race condition, where maybe two pieces of code try to change volume to the response of changing volume using the knob or +/- on the keyboard. This is only my guess. Anyway, bug still exists in Hardy. It is very annoying, because I must use mouse to change the volume. Even changing the volume using mouse causes a lot of problems (sometimes I must mute/unmute using the keyboard). So please, try to investigate this before releasing next Ubuntu. I know that a lot of people are using external usb audio devices. This is very important for me. If you need any assistance in hunting this bug just drop me an email. Public bug reported: After upgrading 7.10 to 8.04 USB Audio Device stopped working. In my case it is Creative Xmod, which worked fine in gutsy.
