[Bug 1817924] Re: apps launched from gnome shell do not get input focus
I can also confirm, as rachel saw: - This also happens with all gnome extensions disabled. I tested with the 'vanilla' gnome session. - This does not happen under wayland - Certain apps (e.g. Gedit), aren't effected. Further to that, I also found that this only seems to happen in the first workspace. If I open some application in the first workspace, switch to a second workspace, and open gnome-terminal there, it does get focus. [Bug 1779661] [NEW] Option to change Application Switcher color/opacity is broken
Public bug reported: Steps to Re-create: # Open compizconfig-settings-manager # Enable Application switcher plugin # In the plugin settings go to the general tab # In the Background section check 'Set background color' # and below that specify the desired background color and opacity Expected: Should change background color and opacity of the application switcher Actual: There's absolutely no change, even after restarting compiz IMO this is a big issue, because the defaults for the application switcher are horrible - it has a highly transparent background by default making window titles hard to read, and because this setting is broken it's impossible to change it This also happens with the equivalent setting in the Static Application switcher plugin as well IMO in addition to fixing this, the default should really be changed well to have a more opaque background for the switchers... this is an accessibility issue. [Bug 1231947] [NEW] gnome-settings-daemon input hotplug-command not working in 13.10
Public bug reported: I have always used this method in ubuntu to enable 3-finger tap on my synaptics touchpad (and by the way, 3-finger tap works out of the box in every non-ubuntu distro /rant): create a file called touchpad_settings.sh. chmod +x touchpad_settings.sh gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.input-devices hotplug-command /home/brandon/touchpad_settings.sh This way 3 finger tap is working and gnome always respects the setting and doesn't reset it on suspend/resume. This worked perfectly in 12.04, 12.10, and 13.04. In 13.10 it just does not work. I double checked, made sure I had the right path to the file, and that the file was executable. If I manually execute touchpad_settings.sh it works, but when I boot my computer it just does not seem to run the hotplug command, and if I manually run the script and then suspend/resume, gnome disables the 3 finger tap upon resume, again not respecting the hotplug-command. [Bug 1170483] Re: The file manager (nautilus) handling the Desktop is not being enabled in live session
This is something that should really be addressed before release. With the desktop icons disabled it triggers some huge compiz/unity bugs as described above (compiz seems to be designed to expect nautilus to be drawing a desktop window). Simply minimizing a window in the live session totally freezes compiz, and the dash doesn't respons to the keyboard at all. as soon as I do: gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons true in the live session, everything behaves properly. This would be a terrible, terrible thing to leave in a final release. This issue should reproducable for anyone, i've seen it on every machine I've tried the raring live session on. [Bug 1170483] Re: The file manager (nautilus) handling the Desktop is not being enabled in live session
The problem is when nautilus is not handling the desktop compiz totally freaks out and behaves poorly. Things like minimizing windows totally freezes until I hit the alt key which then unfreezes the animation. Unity/Compiz just acts buggy/bizarre in the live session. However if I open dconf-editor in the live session and check the box to have nautilus handle the desktop all of the problems go away and compiz/unity acts as expected. Compiz seems to expect this option to be enabled and barely works without it. This is why it should be enabled for the live session. I have very common hardware (intel graphics) and saw these issues on some pretty recent daily ISO's. (think the last I tried was april 17th or 18th?). This should be easy to reproduce, boot into a live session with this option disabled and try to do some common window management like minimizing windows. These kinds of glitches in a live session will leave a bad impression. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1170483 Title: The file manager (nautilus) handling the Desktop is not being enabled in live session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1170483/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1171181] [NEW] Random Pulseaudio Dummy Output
Public bug reported: I cannot manually reproduce this and it seems pretty rare/random, but I've noticed in 13.04 at random when I boot up pulseaudio isn't working at all. It just shows a dummy output. rebooting has fixed it each time it happened. I also noticed each time I saw this happen there was an accompanying hang on reboot, it would just sit at the plymouth splash and I'd have to use the power button. My theory is that sometimes pulseaudio fails to start correctly causing the dummy output issue, and when I reboot it also fails to exit causing the hang. [Bug 1140505] [NEW] Wallpaper bleeds through on top right when app is maximized
Public bug reported: When I have certain applications maximized (i've seen this happen in firefox and rhythmbox so far) there are rendering glitches along the top right side. The wallpaper bleeds through, and sometimes there's a white line too. Only started happening recently. I tried turning off SNA in case it was related to SNA being turned on recently, but does it with UXA too, so seems to be a unity/compiz issue. My video card is intel HD4000, running raring 13.04 fresh installed today with all updates. Screenshot is attatched, you can see the blue wallpaper bleeding through on the top right of rhythmbox. The glitch goes away if you un-maximize and re-maximize the app. Step to reproduce: Maximize an application like firefox or rhythmbox, so it will remember that its maximized and open maximized next time you launch it. Close the application. Open it back up, and you will see the glitch on the top right. It only seems to happen if you launch the app maximized, if you open the app un-maximized, and then maximize it its fine. [Bug 1141079] [NEW] Compiz broken with QT menus/floating controls in 13.04
Public bug reported: When using QT apps such as VLC player in ubuntu 13.04 menus and floating controls are all messed up. Whenever I bring up a right click menu in a QT app compiz thinks the menu is another window and it shows up as untitled window I saw this in xubuntu 13.04 + compiz as window manager and in a fresh 13.04 unity install. In addition if you go fullscreen in vlc or smplayer and bring up the floating controls it glitches out and stops letting you bring them up, you also occasionally see flashes of the unity launcher/menu bar when you bring them up. This is a very big regression, and QT video players are basically unusable...
