[Bug 188146] Re: Battery is Charged notification shows at wrong time
I tested the issue on Intrepid Live CD and the issue is present in the way in which the message battery is charged is never displayed. By default the notification icon is only displayed when charging and discharing process runs, so when the battery is fully charged the icon disappears and no message battery is charged is shown. If you enable the permanently displaying of notification icon, when the battery is fully charged (you realize this moving the mouse pointer over the icon) the icon doesn't change its status (it seems that the charging process isn't terminated) and no message is displayed. -- Battery is Charged notification shows at wrong time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188146 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 156472] Re: Allow CPUFREQ chooser in gnome-power-manager UI.
The bug is still present in Hardy and Intrepid. I have read in bug #292148 that upstream have removed all of the cpufreq code in gnome-power-manager for Intrepid. I don't know if this is correct as an explanation about this wasn't given in that bug report. Anyway I think that Ubuntu should allow a user to choose cpu freq by default and not forcing him to spend (as I also did) much time to find a solution via web to this simple issue. -- Allow CPUFREQ chooser in gnome-power-manager UI. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156472 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 337988] [NEW] services-admin says that a service is started but its /etc/default/ file has enabled = 0
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools If I open services-admin I can read, for example, that apport is started but this is not true as /etc/default/apport has the entry enabled=0. I think this is misleading for a normal user as he doesn't know that, for every service, to check if it has started or not, he has to go to cli and check /etc/default files for enabled entries. I think services-admin should also read enable entry for a certain service (not only rc.d) and, if necessary, it should modify it if the user want to start the service. For me it's a usability bug. [Bug 331478] Re: automatically synchronize remote mail locally seems to not work all the time
I did some other tests and it seems that the problem (in Hardy as I hadn't time yet to test it in Intrepid too) is that, for some reasons, the emails downloaded (as I did a manually sync) disappears in the filesystem. In fact in my Ubuntu folders, in the filesystem, after the syncing (some days ago), I had over 1030 mails (and this is ok as I could read in evolution) but today I only have about 500 emails (but in Evolution I can still read over 1030 emails), so this is why may emails cannot be recovered (that is because Evolution cannot find them in filesystems so it have to downloaded them again). -- automatically synchronize remote mail locally seems to not work all the time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331478 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 331478] Re: automatically synchronize remote mail locally seems to not work all the time
Well, in short, the issue is that if I set automatically synchronize remote mail locally evolution should automatically download all the emails locally so I can read them in off-line mode. I have seen that not always this happens automatically. A workaround to this is, when the connection is still active, to go to off-line mode, then at this point evolution asks to you if you want to sync all your folders (I think this option should be only useful if you haven't the option automatically synchronize remote mail locally set), and you have to reply sync. -- automatically synchronize remote mail locally seems to not work all the time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331478 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The gnome-power-manger plugin still shows battery icon even if, if you move the mouse cursor over the icon, you can read that the PC is running with ac-power and the battery state cannot be read at that moment. [Bug 331478] [NEW] automatically synchronize remote mail locally seems to not work all the time
Public bug reported: I have an imap account sync with gmail and I set automatically synchronize remote mail locally to have the ability to read email even when I use evolution in offline mode. But I have noticed that not all the emails were downloaded so I think this option doesn't work all the time. In fact if I go to off-line mode (I click on the icon in the bottom left part of the client) evolution askes to me if I want to sync my folders but I reply not sync as I already set automatically synchronize remote mail locally (that is the emails should be completely downloaded and not only the header, subject, and so on as it happens in the default mode) so the emails should be already sync. But if I want to read them, some are downloaded others not. But if I select sync evolution starts to sync all my emails and all are readable in offline mode too. [Bug 328973] [NEW] cannot close key properties widnow of the key that signed my public key

The bug is that if I want to switch to the other tab Trust and Details of this last property window I cannot do this. Moeover I cannot close this child property window, but I can do this only after having closed the property window of my key (the first property window (1) that I opened, that is the parent window). [Bug 328735] Re: a key is put in trusted keys without it is signed
Sebastien, I read many times that key signing and, if I am not wrong, is a process that permits to you to validate a key (that is you hare sure that the owner of the key is right). Then, based on the signature, you can trust the owner of the key assigning trust level from 1 (don't know) to 4 (I trust fully). I think trusting a user key without signing is not useful as I declare that I don't know if the key is valid or not. From gpg mini howto (http://dewinter.com/gnupg_howto/english/GPGMiniHowto-3.html#ss3.6) 3.6 Key signing As mentioned before in the introduction there is one major Achilles' heel in the system. This is the authenticity of public keys. If you have a wrong public key you can say bye bye to the value of your encryption. To overcome such risks there is a possibility of signing keys. In that case you place your signature over the key, so that you are absolutely positive that this key is valid. This leads to the situation where the signature acknowledges that the user ID mentioned in the key is actually the owner of that key. With that reassurance you can start encrypting. Using the gpg --edit-key UID command for the key that needs to be signed you can sign it with the sign command. You should only sign a key as being authentic when you are ABSOLUTELY SURE that the key is really authentic!!!. So if you are positive you got the key yourself (like on a key signing party) or you got the key through other means and checked it (for instance by phone) using the fingerprint-mechanism. You should never sign a key based on any assumption. Based on the available signatures and ownertrusts GnuPG determines the validity of keys. Ownertrust is a value that the owner of a key uses to determine the level of trust for a certain key. The values are * 1 = Don't know * 2 = I do NOT trust * 3 = I trust marginally * 4 = I trust fully If the user does not trust a signature it can say so and thus disregard the signature. Trust information is not stored in the same file as the keys, but in a separate file. -- a key is put in trusted keys without it is signed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/328735 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 328735] Re: a key is put in trusted keys without it is signed
Michael I know that trusting and signing are technically two separate processes, but I also say again that from a logical point of view trusting should follow signing, that is I should assign a trust judgement to key (that is to person) that I know that are valid (that is the owner of that key is the person that I think he should be). The only reason I see to let the user to trust a key without signing it is related to a scenario in which the user (owner of the keyring) wants to assign trust judgements to people that he knows using the keys that are related to these people regardless to the fact that these key are really valid or not. That is collecting a sort of people trust list. In this scenario however that dangerous thing is that if the user discovers that a key isn't valid he should delete it but doing this he should also delete the trust judgement to that person; to the other side, in order to preserve trust judgement, he shouldn't delete the key once discovered that it isn't valid, but doing this he should have in his keyrings not valid keys in which either keys not yet checked for validity or keys already checked for validity (but not deleted) should cohabit togheter. [Bug 326841] Re: it's not possibile to create a message with pgp encryption
Sebastien, yes it's reproducible (I tested this in two different fresh installations) even if sometimes, the problem seems to disappear. Anyway: 1) import a key with seahorse (the keys is put under collected keys) 2) sign the key and apply a trust level, for example, equals to full 3) try to send a new message, with evolution, to the owner of the previous key, and select encrypt with pgp in the security menu 4) when you click send you will have the issue (obviously I expect the email was sent as I signed the key so I have verified that the key belongs to the recipient user) Possible ways to bypass this is: 1) via gpg cli, set the trust level of the key to ultimately (with seahorse you cannot as this trust level seems to be reserved automatically to own private key); obviously this isn't right as I shouldn't have to set this level of trust to send encrypted emails 2) checking the option Always encrypt to myself when sending encrypted messages but also this is not right as this option is not intended to choose if to send or not to send an email but to view pgp encrypted sent messages stored in sent folder -- it's not possibile to create a message with pgp encryption https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326841 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 326809] Re: f-spot shows random photos at startup
Well: - open f-spot (obviously I suppose that you have many photos so f-spot cannot show them all in one page) - select a photo (it's better that you select a photo that is not in the first f-spot page) - close f-spot - re-open f-spot - if you are lucky you will see that f-spot doesn't open the first photo page or the last photo page in which there was the photo you previously selected, but it places itself in one of the next photo pages - if you aren't lucky re-try always selecting a different photo Often it's not necessary to select any photos: if you open f-spot, don't select anything, close it and re-open the app you will see the issue. -- f-spot shows random photos at startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326809 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Andreas, I have been a kmail user for a long time and with this app if you sent an encrypted email to a user and then you want to read it from the sent mail folder you can do this and I think it's a logical thing as it's I that wrote the email and it's not important if I haven't the private key (obviously) of the recipient user. [Bug 304539] Re: gpg key is signed (with seahorse) but evolution still shows signed messages as not not verified
Mackenzie, I'm not so sure that it's a seahorse issue. In fact I made some other tests and I discovered that: - seahorse only offers 4 options to trust a key while gpg offers 5 options (it adds ultimately), and for this I opened a new bug #327571 - if you trust a key with the option utlimately via cli using gpg then evolution recognize that a certain email has valid signature. I think we have two bugs: - one for seahorse trust levels. (and I opened it as I sayd before); - one for either evolution or seahorse-plugins (and I think the issue I posted is related to this) that I think should recognize a valid signature also if we don't trust a key with the ultimately option. I also think the importance should be raised as this is a security issue. -- gpg key is signed (with seahorse) but evolution still shows signed messages as not not verified https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/304539 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 326286] Re: automatic option doesn't exist in Evolution single file import procedure
In evolution: - file - import - next - import a single file - next - select a file name: in this window you can read that if you don't know the file type, it's possible to select Automatic so that Evolution can try to recognize it. As I already described, there is no automatic option.
