Hi Christian and Robie, apologies for the delay. I have confirmed that the jammy-proposed version 8.0.0-1ubuntu7.1 of libvirt packages fixes this issue for me. [Bug 1972075] Re: Blank screen when viewing GL-accelerated virtio screen on 22.04
I have submitted the patch upstream to the libvirt mailing list. I don't feel qualified to assert that giving the VM read access to those sysfs files is the right fix, but it did resolve the issue for me. I noticed that GNOME-Boxes bug too while troubleshooting this. I did not try the egl-headless suggestion at the end of the thread, but did attempt to set the env var "MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=i965", which still resulted in a blank display for me. It is unclear to me whether the "qemu_spice_gl_scanout_texture: failed to get fd for texture" message is specific to this issue, or if it would occur in a broad class of errors where the graphics fails to initialize. In my case, this is running on an i7-1165G7 Framework laptop with Mesa Intel(R) Xe Graphics (TGL GT2) (0x9a49). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1972075 Title: Blank screen when viewing GL-accelerated virtio screen on 22.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1972075/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm not sure, the packages from the proposed repository really do work. Installed them in an LXC container running 22.04 on a 20.04 host. [Bug 1430068] Re: Unable to launch gnome-system-monitor
executing > sudo echo 512 > /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances does not work because it won't open the file as root but as your current user. This is because "> /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances" is not part of what sudo executes. The command is interpreted by your shell as follows: open the file "/proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances " for writing and execute the programm "sudo" with the following arguments ["echo", "512"] and replace the output(stdout) of the program with said file for starting it. Since your shell is not running as root, it cannot open "/proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances" for writing. You can either get a shell running as root (with "sudo -i" for example), or do "echo 512 | sudo tee /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances". The 2nd way works by passing the output of echo to sudo with in turn will pass it on to tee which then will open the file, which it can do because sudo invoked tee as root. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1430068 Title: Unable to launch gnome-system-monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-system-monitor/+bug/1430068/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1861262] Re: Add message/rfc822 to thunderbird.desktop
> If I understand correctly, that's not an issue that can be fixed > by merely updating the desktop file or packaging parameters > of thunderbird in Ubuntu, it would have to be addressed > by the upstream project. I have added a comment to make users (who will face a problem despite a fix) aware of idiosyncrasy of handling command line options by thunderbird. I do not expect that Ubuntu team will ship additional wrapper to deal with the issue. Those, who desperately need it working, may write a script that creates a symlink with ".eml" suffix and a desktop file to open "message/rfc822" files using this script. I am afraid that security issues might happen because mozilla soft relies too much on heuristics and does not allow to explicitly express intention through command line options. It is even impossible to ensure that nothing following should be considered as options, remaining arguments are URIs or files ("--" separator for a lot of tools). Anyway the fix is a step forward. At least files having ".eml" suffix may be conveniently viewed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1861262 Title: Add message/rfc822 to thunderbird.desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/1861262/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1861262] Re: Add message/rfc822 to thunderbird.desktop
Thank you for updating the .desktop file. The issue is more hairy than it seems at first glance. E.g. https://debbugs.gnu.org/ sends "Content-disposition" header with ".mbox" suffix when a single comment in mbox format is requested (to reply to particular message). Thunderbird believes that a suitable action is to compose a new message with downloaded file as an attachment. There is no command line option to force thunderbird to open a file as namely mail message. The position of developers is that such file must have ".eml" extension otherwise it is not a message. No, the mic-mute keyboard key does not work - neither with the old (-27) or new (-28) kernel. My mention of bug 1955691 is based upon having tested by rolling back to the -27 kernel and seeing the mic-mute LED stay off, rolling forward to the -28 kernel and seeing it illuminate at boot again, then looking in the changelog and seeing an entry mentioning both "HP" and "mic-mute". [Bug 1959970] [NEW] Microphone-mute LED regression with 5.13.0-28 kernel update
Public bug reported: The bug 1955691 kernel update introduces undesirable behaviour on the HP Spectre x360 - the mic-mute LED is now lit at system startup, even though the microphone is NOT MUTED. This is undesirable because it is giving the user incorrect information; and also because the LED is a rather attention-grabbing vivid orange, which is distracting to have lit. After logging in to GNOME, opening the Sound settings and toggling the microphone mute state does cause the LED to follow future changes. [Bug 1741074] Re: [snap] chrome-gnome-shell extension fails to detect native host connector
It seems, Belgium eID (Comment #36) uses PKCS#11, not native messaging: https://github.com/Fedict/eid-mw/blob/master/plugins_tools/xpi/new-src/manifest.json However the problem is essentially the same: native manifest. Olivier filed a bug in Firefox bugzilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/1734371 "Firefox snap can't load PKCS#11 modules on the host system" I suppose, the title of this bug does not reflect scale of the problem. All browser add-ons that relies on native manifests are affected in Chromium and Firefox. I came across this issue testing an extension in Firefox using Ubuntu-21.10 live image. I am considering whether it is feasible to run a kind of thin proxy server on host that creates a socket inside a directory mounted to snap and runs a binary in response to connection (something like inetd). It requires a stub for native messaging app that connects to the server and pass through requests and responses. Generally it does not differ too much from D-Bus and ideally requires support from Firefox for robust checks if particular add-on is allowed to run a specific app. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1741074 Title: [snap] chrome-gnome-shell extension fails to detect native host connector To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/1741074/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1945794] [NEW] ttf-mscorefonts-installer should not depend on ubuntu-advantage-tools
Public bug reported: During latest update of Ubuntu-20.04 focal the following conflict appeared: either ubuntu-advantage-tools must be installed or ttf- mscorefonts-installer must be removed. Such dependence should not be hard, I do not mind (indirect) "recommends" relation. Since I have no intention to subscribe to ESM or to kernel live patch (sorry, I am not a source of profit for Canonical, at least direct one), I removed ubuntu-advantage-tools and it was working smoothly till the last update. apt upgrade attempted to install new package ubuntu-advantage-tools. I tried to set `Pin-Priority: -1` to this package (I do not recommend such recipe, so no config snippet here). The result is: The following packages have been kept back: python3-update-manager I do not expect upgrade till next year, so I tried to remove packages necessary for dist-upgrade apt purge update-manager-core The following packages will be REMOVED: ttf-mscorefonts-installer* update-manager-core* update-notifier-common* Removing of ttf-mscorefonts-installer is against my goal. I would prefer to keep the fonts. 1. ttf-mscorefonts-installer should not depend on update-notifier- common. I noticed /var/lib/update-notifier/package-data-downloads/ directory in /var/lib/dpkg/info/ttf-mscorefonts-installer.postinst If it is the only reason of dependency, the package may create the directory itself. 2. I hope, there is a way to avoid stale ubutu-advantage-tools without hard dependency in update-manager-core (e.g. "recommends" and some conflicts to earlier versions). I do not know the full story, I found lp:1926361, but fixes released several months ago. I have no idea why the problem appeared on my machine this week. It seems, there 2 independent issues that are quite harmless while isolated but their combination causes a problem. [Bug 1926305] Re: 20.04 Online Accounts - Google Shared Drives
Thank you for looking into it. I appreciate it may not be an easy process. However corporate environments will not be upgraded until the next LTS. [Bug 1926305] [NEW] 20.04 Online Accounts - Google Shared Drives
Public bug reported: Just tested out 21.04 and Google Shared Drives works just fine. Any chance the 20.04 LTS gnome-online-accounts could be updated to support it? [Bug 1916314] Re: HP Spectre x360 14-ea0xxx Tiger Lake Keyboard does not work until ~30-60 seconds after boot
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected groovy ** Description changed: On the HP Spectre x360 14-ea0xxx (Tiger Lake), the keyboard is inoperable for ~30-60 seconds after system boot. [Bug 1916314] Re: HP Spectre x360 14-ea0xxx Tiger Lake Keyboard does not work until ~30-60 seconds after boot
> Have you compiled kernel with that patch? No, I haven't. The workaround of setting i8042.nopnp is satisfactory for me, and the patch creator has done a thorough write up of the problem. My objective in filing this bug is to raise awareness that the current version of Ubuntu has this problem - on fairly major hardware from a mainstream vendor - so that other people searching the bug tracker for it can more easily find out. Or, that it might draw the attention of Ubuntu kernel maintainers for possible inclusion as a SAUCE patch whilst waiting for upstream inclusion. Or, getting a bit hopeful here, that someone at Canonical could get someone at HP to fix their "quirky" i8042 emulation. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1916314 Title: HP Spectre x360 14-ea0xxx Tiger Lake Keyboard does not work until ~30-60 seconds after boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1916314/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1912772] Re: Panic on sysfs read
Ah, that's a shame... Thank you for your efforts, though. I'm unsure whether this can be exploited, but in the end, you have to be root to trigger it, right? And the Raspberry Pi's Watchdog can help you get out of this situation. Unfortunately, you can trigger it by accident when grepping through the whole file system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1912772 Title: Panic on sysfs read To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi/+bug/1912772/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1916469] Re: Apps don't use Wayland by default
** Description changed: The Ubuntu universe has a big Wayland problem! What does that mean? So a lot of packages in the Universe repository are not compiled with Wayland support which is really bad and would lead to bad performance after 21.04 comes out.
