[Bug 1081381] [NEW] No login screen appears on boot

2012-11-20 Thread ottadini
Public bug reported:

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
Release:12.04

When I boot up my system, I don't get a login screen, just the boot log
scrolling by, repeating after a while lines like this:

 * Starting anac(h)ronistic cron [ OK ]
 * Stopping anac(h)ronistic cron [ OK ]

I can change to another virtual terminal, and start lightdm from there
with sudo lightdm restart.

Other people with similar problems had just lightdm in their /etc/x11
/default-display-manager. I've checked mine and it has /usr/sbin/lightdm
in there, so that's not the problem.

New set of logs from /var/log/lightdm/ after reboot:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22417033/lightdm.log
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22417033/x-0.log
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22417033/x-0-greeter.log

And the ~/.xsession-errors file

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22417033/.xsession-errors

And Xorg.o.log:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22417033/Xorg.0.log

 Changed in inkscape:
 milestone:0.49 → none

Hi devs, very sad to see this fall down. I wonder if there can be a
different way to solve this?

Instead I eventually restarted, and then package install completed
successfully.

Thanks, fixed.

[Bug 1023733] [NEW] Ubuntuone not syncing files

2012-07-11 Thread ottadini
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
ubuntuone-client 3.0.1-0ubuntu1.0.1

I modified a file, and Ubuntuone set about syncing it, however, it is
stuck. On the gui in the top-right corner it has 'File sync
starting...', but it doesn't progress.

I have rebooted, tried using console commands to stop and restart,
checked exceptions log and syncdaemon log, without understanding the
problem. The syncdaemon-exceptions.log has this:

2012-07-12 15:08:27,128 - dbus.proxies - ERROR - Introspect error on

error name=(unset) requested_reply=0
destination=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager (uid=0 pid=1244

[Bug 170049] Re: Inverted ruler co-ordinate system

2012-02-07 Thread ottadini
Hello, I'm a bit confused about the status of the fixes / patches to this bug.
Krzysztof Kosinski wrote that there were some regressions, and the fix was
reverted.
Is this bug going to be fixed in time for the 0.49 release? Just curious, and
really hoping it will be.

[Bug 171579] Re: Make inkscape remember dialogs window status

2011-10-27 Thread ottadini
In addition, is it relevant to add to this list of wishes that Inkscape
can open its own app window in its previous state? Especially across
multiple screens and/or virtual desktops?

Triaged or Confirmed, this won't be looked at until it's assigned to
someone I suppose. Is there any developer willing to assign it to
themself?

[Bug 488710] Re: pdftops too slow with certain PDF files

2010-06-21 Thread ottadini
Till, unfortunately I can't attach the file as it's a student's paper.

Originally I tried printing through evince, which caused the problem.
I have just tried lpr, and the documents print normally.
I downloaded and installed Adobe Reader 9.3.2, and the documents print
normally.
(Thanks! I didn't think about Adobe Reader on ubuntu.)

Any known workarounds for this?

I have a series of student papers with many embedded images that simply
won't be processed by pdftops. Well, I've waited an hour for a 3MB PDF
to be processed, and my CPU is still near 100%. I'm giving up and must
use another OS, as I'm not sure what I can do.

[Bug 564331] [NEW] 'Opening file' 'Save file' dialog always displays hidden directories

2010-04-15 Thread ottadini
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

On karmic.

When opening choosing to save a file the save file dialog displays
hidden directories with no option to hide them.

Steps:
1. LMB click PDF or other document link on some web page
2. Choose to Save File
3. Dialog opens 'Enter name of file to save to'
4. Choose to 'Browse for other folders'
5. Hidden dirs are displayed, no option to hide them.

Is there some setting somewhere (i've searched about:config), or does it
depend on an external file manager option perhaps?
