Hello

IMHO the reproduction of the bug is difficult to describe because of the
necessary selections-deselections.

Below is a simpler procedure to reproduce with version 3.5 or Version
3.6.0.0.beta3 (Build ID: 3e2b862)

1. File New Presentation
2. Add some text in the Text Frame (where it says Click to add title)
3. Deselect the Text Frame (for example click on Click to add text)
4. Select the Title Text Frame (blue squares) and delete it 
5. Undo
6. In the Task pane, try to change something, Layout, Master page...

[Bug 1035970] [NEW] apport breaks if /etc/apt/sources.list doesn't exist

I split all my repos nicely in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ files. apport
breaks in that case.

I assume this could easily be fixed with os.path.exists().

The workaround of creating an empty /etc/apt/sources.list works fine, but 
that's incompatible with my OCD.

So crypt(3) from the binary package manpages-dev tells me I should have
crypt(), usable with -lcrypt.

As I sometimes needs to compute such a crappy hash (I can't even
remember when the last time was, or why, but that had to do with legacy
code), I wrote this small utility:

It compiles completely fine under Squeeze using gcc -lcrypt crypt.c.

For some reason I'm not so lucky with precise.

Is there a way to disable this behavior in about:config ? Shouldn't Firefox put 
the user in control ?
I am the only user on my computer and use a master password so I don't why this 
wouldn't be safe.

I had the same problem (Ubuntu 12.04 Precise), I upgraded lxpanel to version 
0.5.10-1 (quantal) and it seems to work correctly now (showing 41% charged, 
1:22 until full instead of 100%, and the green bar is not full now).
I didn't test during discharging yet.

I haven't run any benchmarks yet, but use resources from a CIFS server
across the Internet, sometimes through a VPNish solution like sshuttle.

I have little doubts that the performance improvement could be quite
significant for certain loads, and the risk for a mount point without
the fsc mount option seems very low (looking at CIFS_MOUNT_FSCACHE in
Ubuntu-3.2.0-29.46).


So great to hear that we'll get this option in Quantal.
Any chance it could also be considered for a latter upgrade of precise?

It seems to remain a problem in the word count in case of paragraph
numbering

Steps to reproduce:

1. File New Text Document
2. Type test then apply numbering (toolbar Formatting)
3. Tools Word count

Actual result: 1 word, character 4
Expected result: 2 words, 6 characters

4. Type Enter then Tools Word count

Actual result: 2 words and six characters
Expected result: 3 words, 8 characters

5. Type Enter

Actual  Expected results: stop numbering  6 characters and 2 words

The problem seems to be the pending status after Step 4. If we redo
enter (step 5) will cancel the current numbering. These are the
waiting numbers which are not counted ... but they are there and IMHO
they should be counted.

I do not have swift installed, but my manager node runs nova-storage with 
some s3 thingy.
Excerpt from my nova.conf:
--s3_host=192.168.122.4
--s3_port=

Looks like horizon is not able to get the value of s3_url (
api.url_for(request, 's3')).

As a workaround, if i change 
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/horizon/dashboards/settings/juju/forms.py so i 
hard code the s3 url in the code, it works:

I do not know exactly how horizon is getting service catalog entry, but it

i  create a s3 service and associate endpoints with it the following way:

I know I could have attached log and more infos about my crashes, but I
figured that after all these logs people have submitted so far, that it
would be pretty much of the same... since we all experience the same
problem.

The issue might be on NVidia's side... but the way Ubuntu is dealing
with this is highly unprofessional.. if that issue what happening on
Windows, you can be sure that this issue would be resolved relatively
quickly. Personally, in more than 15 years of computing, and the
majority of it with Microsoft OSes, I have never seen a problem stick
for so long.

Fortunately for me, I just joined in, but seeing that this bug is still
here after so long... I dunno...

Look, NVidia isn't a 3rd or 4th player in the video card industry... So
you can be sure there is a lot of people running NVidia's card... this
cannot be ignored like this. At least, make the default selection to
Ubuntu 2D, so that people joining in aren't experiencing problems right
after they reboot on their first install. This really give a bad
opinion about the product.

Fortunately, I've been around and played many times with Linux in the
past, going back to kernel 1.x, so I'm more forgiving and my past
experiences taught me to choose ATi when building a computer to use with
Linux. Unfortunately, I didn't planned on running it when I built this
one a couple of years ago.

I would have also thought that NVidia might have stepped up their game
and finally get some work done on their linux driver... seems the open
source project might get there faster.

But we are straying outside the subject... just wanted to voice out my
thoughts on the matter... If I had been a totally new linux user,
trying Ubuntu 12.04 and having problems after first boot... it would
have certainly be enough to make me put the windows dvd back in and re-
install.

Regarding the crashes, I decided to give a try to Ubuntu 2d, and seems
like my crashes are gone. Ever since I switched to it yesterday, I
haven't had a single crash.

And I have had Photoshop opened since, did plenty of work without losing
anything, with my browser opened and using it when I needed.

I noticed there was a couple of important packages that was updated
yesterday, with gnome that was automatically added in an apt-get
upgrade. Haven't tried it yet, since I kinda like unity, and it's
running great now...

Really happy about this work-around, because I wouldnt have installed
the Nouveau drivers, since it probably wouldnt run so well with
Photoshop extended... Haven't tried, but I get that feeling.

So this solution is very good for me, only losing a bit of eye candy,
but I wasn't using the 3d part of compiz, just some extra visuals...

But if I were working at Ubuntu, I would really be concerned about this
issue in those 4-5 months the bug existed, you might have lost quite
a few potential customers... those that will try linux for the first
time and get this issue will most certainly go back to windows, or try a
different distro.

All in all, I must say that Linux/Ubuntu made some really nice
improvements since the last time I tried it... this might just be the
time when I will leave Windows for good.

Don't get me wrong I would have liked to do that 10 years ago.. but it
is only starting to be possible (at least for me)

You can count me in as well.

Hope this get sorted out quickly... Can't deal with this for so long...
My computer is my main tool for work.

I know this is free software, and that we should be grateful for the
people who makes this happens, but if you want to convince me to stick
to your distro and even shell some bucks in the software center, which
I'm seriously considering... interested in the cloud storage and some
apps.

However, if the distro keeps on crashing like this for so long, I'll
just look elsewhere or as a last resort, install windows again.

I've always had pretty bad experiences in the past, mainly due because I
was using bleeding edge hardware, but I have slacked on upgrading, and
last time I built my computer back 5 years ago, I made a pretty good
one, and still going fine today...

So I thought that with a 5 years computer, the hardware issue would all
be resolved by now.. seems nvidia is still the same as it always
been... ati was always the way to go... too bad I wasn't expecting to
run linux when I picked that nvidia card...

Hi,

I have only one node in state Commissionning.

I am getting the following error :

The provisioning service encountered a problem with the Cobbler server,
fault code 99: dns-name duplicated: cloud-jpd-5 If the error message is
not clear, you may need to check the Cobbler logs in /var/log/cobbler/
or pserv.log.

But this node is not listed in the MAAS nodes list. And the log does not bring 
more info : 
..
raise CX(dns-name duplicated: %s % dns_name)

I have the version of cloud-init mentionned in the title.

I checked the clocks and they are at the same value on both the server
and the node.

Can I add the server as a node itself ? That did not succeed either.

Hi Timo,

I am coming back to you in regards to this bug. For the last weeks, the
crash occured only once or twice a week, but lately, it happens like 3
times a day and it is really annoying.

It seems to me that it happens usually shortly after a resume of the
machine.

I am still waiting for indications about the tests I am supposed to do.

Indeed, a bug report already existed for the bug affecting NVIDIA card
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-
drivers/+bug/973096) and as explained in my first message, I am not
using NVIDIA card (as well as many other users affected by this
problem). This is why I opened this new bug report.

IMHO the reproduction of the bug is difficult to describe because of the
necessary selections-deselections.

Below is a simpler procedure to reproduce with version 3.5 or Version
3.6.0.0.beta3 (Build ID: 3e2b862)

1. File New Presentation
2. Add some text in the Text Frame (where it says Click to add title)
3. Deselect the Text Frame (for example click on Click to add text)
4. Select the Title Text Frame (blue squares) and delete it 
5. Undo
6. In the Task pane, try to change something, Layout, Master page...
