Why doesn't terminal auto-complete recognise the process name, when
killall telepathy-butterfly works?

I notice it's the only telepathy-* that's written in Python.

[Bug 674298] Re: Hibernation warning sometimes hidden

2010-11-11 Thread valkyr
Thinking about it, the reason I noticed the pop-up was there before the
system hibernated was because I was clicking back and forth on different
windows anyway at the time, meaning the power warning may have popped up
just as I clicked another window, hiding it without me noticing.

If it's that easy to do such a thing though, then maybe the warning
dialog should be a modal window?

Ah... possibly not a bug, it seems to *require* one of those JREs (as it
doesn't seem to work with Sun's).

One of those JREs should be pulled in as a dependency when apt-getting

[Bug 668586] [NEW] How to select which connection is currently used?

2010-10-29 Thread valkyr
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

How are we supposed to choose which of a number of active connections is
used? If I have a mobile broadband connection active, and then connect
to a wireless network, the wireless network is used by Firefox. I'm not
entirely sure whether that's because wireless takes precedence over
mobile, or because of the order in clicking them, but being able to
choose the primary connection would be useful.

[Bug 657935] Re: [STAGING] rt2800pci fails reconnect after suspend

2010-10-22 Thread valkyr
rt2860 isn't in use according to lspci -k :

Kernel driver in use: rt2800pci

Also, there is a slight difference between suspending and hibernating :

Waking from suspend : NM applet shows trying to connect, then after 1-2
minutes, fails. I've had an occasional hard lock-up (total system freeze
requiring power-off) after logging back in too. Not sure if it's
connected to the WLAN)

Waking from hibernation : NM applet shows trying to connect, then after
1-2 minutes, asks for WPA key, then tries to connect for another 1-2
minutes, asks for WPA key, etc, etc, etc.

dmesg shows the same Indirect register access failed in both
instances.

And, pressing the wireless enable/disable function key on the notebook I
use (eeePC 901) fixes the problem, allowing connection *even after
subsequent suspends/hibernates*.

I've attached what dmesg shows about the disable/enable WLAN button
FWIW.

** Attachment added: result of pressing the WLAN disable / enable button

[Bug 663573] [NEW] Messages window size

2010-10-19 Thread valkyr
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: qjackctl

The messages window doesn't have a sane default width. It needs to be

operation failed. - Unable to connect to server. Please check the
messages window for more info.

[Bug 663583] [NEW] Setup window - Save / OK

2010-10-19 Thread valkyr
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: qjackctl

Clicking Save on the setup window ghosts the OK button, leaving
Cancel the only option, which isn't exactly true (because it wont
cancel the save operation).

It must be to do with the default states of the button on opening the

2010-10-18 Thread valkyr
I have just experienced this bug.

MSN had been working fine for weeks, then suddenly today (a few days
after changing my account information - wasn't sure whether that was
connected or not) I get the Network error message.

telepathy-butterfly wasn't running on my system, so I restarted and then
MSN is working again.

[Bug 137472] Re: stunnel4 init.d script reports startup failures with pid=error message even when not so

2010-10-16 Thread valkyr
On Maverick the same error occurs.

It is however to do with the message before the one about the PID,
complaining of the missing SSL certificate needed to run stunnel.

A guide to certificates, and how to generate one can be found here :
http://www.stunnel.org/faq/certs.html

I guess a cert. isn't packaged because everyone needs a unique one.

[Bug 655059] [NEW] Screen defaults to wrong aspect ratio

2010-10-05 Thread valkyr
Public bug reported:

[Bug 430351] Re: Logitech mouse MX revolution not configured properly

2010-09-22 Thread valkyr
7 buttons on this mouse don't work by default. 6 do work.

Some sort of mouse setup control panel to allow configuring / assigning
buttons / key strokes etc for all mice would be very useful.

Confirmed here with 10.04.

The Google start page and search bar search engines should be set
according to the localisation chosen during installation.

[Bug 629453] [NEW] Distro installation summary

2010-09-03 Thread valkyr
Public bug reported:

A non-technical user was observed during the setup process of Ubuntu
10.04. The only thing that they didn't understand during the seven page
wizard, was the partition configuration text of the installation summary
on page seven, which is very verbose.

If the system only has one hard disk available for example (say
/dev/hda, with no /dev/hdb-z or /dev/sda-z), then the summary could say
something friendlier like : Ubuntu will be installed to the
main/first hard disk.
