2007-10-17 Thread Rob Van Dyck
Hi Mark,

The power issue could be resolved if I park my car in the parking lot,
and then leave my car running while tapping energy from my car (the
distance to the underground passage is about 10 meters I think, and I
have the gear).
The only thing I don't have is an ubuntu laptop with compiz [my work
laptop is secured by pointsec, and I do not want to mess with it too
much].

Kind regards,
Rob.

Yes, I also like that idea. I'm sure we won't have any printed cd's by
then. I can also burn some cd's by then. But I will be only for the
really interested people.

Can someone else also burn some cd for sunday?

As a ULYSSIS member, I can confirm that we don't mirror stuff already
available on the belnet/kuleuven mirrors.

It's true that the servers above are free from download quota on Kotnet.

belnet: ftp://ftp.belnet.be/linux/ubuntu/releases/7.10

It already contains the rc and the final release will be here to. I am
new to this mailing list so i don't know about the contact.
The server from ulyssis doesn't contain ubuntu apparently.
I can't find the url for the kuleuven server but i'll keep looking.

The belnet server is fast and limitless. I use it alot.

Hi Vincent,

That would be usefull, can you post the URL's here? Do you know
whether they will have the latest version there on those servers? Do
we have a contact there?
Apart from that option I still like the idea of giving out CD's for
the students that are really interested :-).

As a Student you can download ubuntu form:
-The public ftp server from the kuleuven
-The public belnet ftp server
-the public ftp server from ulyssis

When you download from these servers it doesn't count. If you want i can
find the exact url's of these servers.

Re: [Ubuntu-be] ReleaseActions - Volunteers needed

2007-10-16 Thread Rob Van Dyck
Hi Francois,

Ok, I will come with a projector, but I do not have a power supply.
Anybody else has one? I also don't have a laptop with Ubuntu (and
compiz) on it, so somebody should bring one [my desktop is too much
work to bring along :-].
Also, do we burn some CD's up front? It's not on the wiki. But I can
imagine people trying it a lot faster if they allready receive a cd
for it and don't need to download the ISO (I remember that kotnet [the
ISP most of the students use], has a very limited download limit, so
they won't download it just for fun).

Greets,
Rob.

Re: [Ubuntu-be] ReleaseActions - Volunteers needed

2007-10-16 Thread François Cauwe
Hi,
Considering that most students arrive between 19h and 22h, I propose the
following for 21st in Leuven:
Come together at 18:45 at the exit of the trainstation tunnel under the
panel with bus schedule from 'De lijn'.
If you have a computer, and you want to take it with you; be sure to
have a lock with you.

This is the first time we do it, so I would try to keep it simple and
see how it turns out. If you have a projector and a power supply
(generator?) then it could be nice.

François

Re: [Ubuntu-be] ReleaseActions - Volunteers needed

2007-10-15 Thread Rob Van Dyck
Hi,

I'm considering coming to Leuven on the 21th to help you out. But what
is the planning atm? What time would you like to start and end your
action? Depending on the time schedule I can also bring a projector
(no screen though).

Kind regards,
Rob.
