[Bug 35174] Re: ThinkPad X60 cannot Resume from Suspend

2006-06-28 Thread Littleiffel
I upgraded my kernel to 2.6.15-25-686 and now Resume/hibernate is not
working anymore, (while it worked perfectly with the -23 kernel)

 -Now when trying to suspend, it is not going to sleep and it is impossible to
wake it up again.
 - Hibernate, suspends without a problem however resuming hangs with the usual
screen.

As I still have the old kernels, I tested them too, Hibernate does not
work on any kernel (2.6.15-23-386, 2.6.15.-23-686, 2.6.15-25-386) Always
the same hang.

However, Sleep is still working perfectly with the kernels
(2.6.15-23-386, 2.6.15.-23-686).

So as before the update/upgrade hibernate and sleep was working I wonder
why these kernels are not working anymore??

What I did, I install package linux-686-smp(apt-get install
linux-686-smp), and then through the update-manager installed the -25
kernel(..and some other stuff, tetex,...)

And I also obtained the hang with kernel -25.

Bye

[Bug 51122] Re: intergrate other email clients

2006-06-28 Thread Emmanuel Touzery
assigning to package bug-buddy.
i think that the plan for future versions of bug-buddy is to send bug reports
using the webservice (SOAP) bindings of bugzilla, so in that case no email
configuration all will be necessary anymore. but it's not released yet as far
as i know.

[Bug 51173] Re: Totem crashes when the visualisation size is changed

2006-06-28 Thread Adam Pond
I've done some further testing of this bug on another machine that doesnt have
a problem with the visualisation not working.
The bug is not reproducable on that machine.

However, it would still be a good idea to try and identify what is
causing the problem here and perhaps try and catch and handle any
exceptions that are being thrown.

If anyone knows enough about totem or programming in general and is
willing to help me further identify this problem, then please contact me
and I'll try and help in any way I can.

I'm a windows C++ developer, but hopefully I wont be completely useless.

[Bug 51180] X crashes when viewing a file with long lines in firefox

2006-06-28 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg

I just tried to open today's anastacia
(http://people.ubuntu.com/~mdz/anastacia.txt) in firefox which
immediately resulted in an X.org server crash. I reproduced this two
times. I attach the current version for reference.

I'm on amd64 with the nvidia driver. If this does not happen to other
people, this should be reassigned to nvidia-glx instead.

2006-06-28 Thread Andy Brook
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution has been running fine since install, but now crashes every
time at startup. The only thing done differently was to accept some
updates, these are the packages that came in today:

libgtk2.0-0_2.8.18-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb
libgtk2.0-bin_2.8.18-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb
libgtk2.0-common_2.8.18-0ubuntu2_all.deb
gtk2-engines-pixbuf_2.8.18-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb

A collegeue suggested it was related to the theme, I reset to Ubuntu
default with no difference.

patches continues to run ok.

[Bug 49667] Re: openoffice does not start on amd64

2006-06-28 Thread SmokeyD
I confirm this problem with (today) the completely updated version of
Ubuntu dapper on amd64. The current version of openoffice.org is still
the 32bits version emulating a 32bit environment. I checked the folder
/emul/usr/lib and indeed there only exists a libstdc++.so.5 there, not a
libstdc++.so.6, for which javaldx is looking. If I make a symlink from
/emul/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5 to /emul/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 then the
previous error messages disappear but the next messages appear when
starting an openoffice application:

/usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx: /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version
`GLIBCXX_3.4' not found (required by /usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx)
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx: /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version
`CXXABI_1.3' not found (required by /usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx)
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx: /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version
`GLIBCXX_3.4' not found (required by
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/libuno_cppu.so.3)
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx: /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version
`CXXABI_1.3' not found (required by
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/libuno_cppu.so.3)
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx: /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version
`GLIBCXX_3.4' not found (required by
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/libuno_cppuhelpergcc3.so.3)
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx: /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version
`CXXABI_1.3' not found (required by
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/libuno_cppuhelpergcc3.so.3)
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx: /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version
`GLIBCXX_3.4' not found (required by /usr/lib/openoffice/program/libjvmfwk.so.3)
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx: /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version
`CXXABI_1.3' not found (required by /usr/lib/openoffice/program/libjvmfwk.so.3)
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx: /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version
`GLIBCXX_3.4' not found (required by /usr/lib32/libstlport_gcc.so.4.6)
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx: /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version
`CXXABI_1.3' not found (required by /usr/lib32/libstlport_gcc.so.4.6)
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx: /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version
`CXXABI_1.3' not found (required by
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/libuno_salhelpergcc3.so.3)
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx: /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version
`GLIBCXX_3.4' not found (required by
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/libuno_salhelpergcc3.so.3)

So it looks like the package ia32-libs (version 1.4ubuntu19) or ia32
-libs-openoffice.org (version 11) or some of these packages do not
contain the versions of the 32bit libs that openoffice.org (version
2.0.2-2ubuntu12) is compiled against. I think the problem would be
solved when newer versions of the 32bit libs are available for ubuntu
dapper on amd64. Hope this helps.

[Bug 51185] Mutt doesn't handle MIME types correctly

2006-06-28 Thread Daniel Lombraña
Public bug reported:

Since I have installed mutt in Dapper I have seen that when I open for
example a Power Point presentation from mutt, I don't see any image, but
if instead of open it from mutt I save the attached file and then open
it from OpenOffice.org all images are shown.

I have make an script that moves the file when you open it from mutt to
another folder in /tmp and then launch openoffice.org. This works quite
well, so it should be some bug in some point. Mailcap seems to be
working properly, but I don't know why this is broken.

[Bug 51182] Evolution now crashes on startup due to a meeting request

2006-06-28 Thread Andy Brook

Strangely, it now happens to the machine that didnt have the patches, and it
only happens when loading the inbox. I thought this was related to an email,
and delete one by one todays mail. It turned out it was a meeting request,
whic is wierd, because I've been using it to do this for some time (as an
outlook client).

Forget gtk, this is down to parsing meeting requests

** Summary changed:

[Bug 32906] Re: sudo shouldn’t ABSOLUTEL Y NEED to look up the host it’s running on

2006-06-28 Thread Moley Harey
I have experience a similar problem, by mistake I removed the hostname
of my machine and it was automatically set to 'none', I re-started my
computer and then I could not perform any task using sudo cause all the
time I received the error: sudo: unable to lookup (none) via
gethostbyname()

I had to re-start in rescue mode and add manually as root the correct
hostname in the /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts files

Why does sudo need to perform a 'gethostbyname()'?

Hi,
same thing here. I've got a Thinkpad T60 with Intel Centrino Duo:
uname -a = 2.6.15-25-686 #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Jun 14 11:34:19 UTC 2006 i686

My / is on /dev/sda3 and ext3, my /home is on /dev/sda6 and xfs. Swap is

The "hanging" does not happen if booted with i386 Kernel.

[Bug 43568] Re: WISHLIST: Update to OpenSSH 4.3 for very easy VPN tunnels

2006-06-28 Thread Colin Watson
I've uploaded openssh 1:4.3p2-2ubuntu1 to edgy, including the VPN
support.

Bear in mind that this runs over TCP, and TCP-over-TCP is a *very bad
idea* on even remotely congested networks; it defeats some core
assumptions of TCP and can not only cause delays but also cause packets
to be put in the wrong places so that you end up receiving incorrect
data! Personally I have serious reservations about this option being in
SSH at all given the potential for incorrect data transmission, but it's
your network. I strongly recommend using IPSEC or similar instead.

[Bug 39862] Re: [sky2] Marvell ethernet interface doesn' t work after reboot

2006-06-28 Thread Jyri Sillanpaa
I upgraded to Dapper and both ethhernet cards stopped working (one
integrated and one d-links card), with linux-image-2.6.12-9-386 and
sk98lin module they work. I tried removing the sky2 module and
insmodding sk98lin but that didn't help either, I tried removing the
second card and with disabling the integrated card from the BIOS. I also
tried with pci=noacpi and irqpoll.

The motherboard is ASUS A8V-E SE and it has this card integrated;
:05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8053 Gigabit
Ethernet Controller (rev 19)
the D-Link is DGE-530T, I'm attaching the dmidecode output.

I hope that this gets fixed since I have to use the older kernel now to
get any work done and the sound card stopped working with the old kernel
after the upgrade (it works with the new kernel)

I started the live environment from a Ubuntu 6.06 dekstop i386 CD.

Then I inserted a UDF v1.50 formatted CD-RW.

A window with its contents appeared. There I created a few directories
and files.

Then I clicked "eject" on the CD icon. (right click ...)

A dialog appeared saying that the data is beong written to the CD and
the it was ejected.

After checking, the new files were not present on the CD.

Tried multiple times.

The CD and unit are brand new and work flawless under Windows (+ Neri

[Bug 51191] The Euro key doesn't work when using UTF-8

2006-06-28 Thread Paul van Genderen
Public bug reported:

After following this howto:
http://melkor.dnp.fmph.uniba.sk/~garabik/debian-utf8/HOWTO/howto.html
And this one:
http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-euro-support/ch-about.en.html UTF-8
works fine and I can see Euro symbols, but I cannot type them. This is on an
installation without X.

I've installed fonty-rg and dumpkey includes the following line:
keycode  18 = +e+Ecurrency Control_e
Control_eControl_eMeta_e   Meta_E
Meta_Control_e

Alt+E gives a circle with four lines streching out. The rest does
nothing.

The default locale is nl_NL.UTF-8, configured with localeconf. "locale
charmap" gives UTF-8, plain "locale" says nl_NL.UTF-8 for everything
except LC_ALL, which is blank. The keyboard is a plain US104 QWERTY one.
I get UTF-8 fonts by running the utf8 script from fonty-rg, which i
simply put in /etc/rc.local so it stays. There's no framebuffer enabled
in the kernel (no custom kernel, no modified menu.lst, etc)
