If flashplugin-nonfree depends on wget, then it seems appropriate to assume that wget is properly configured. See http_proxy and ftp_proxy in /etc/wgetrc. Maybe you want to add debconf panels to wget to configure proxy for wget. [Bug 22899] Re: Installer complains about /dev/md/0p1
Apparently (thanks to Frans Pop) this can be avoided in partman-lvm for the LVM-on-RAID case. The following Debian upload, which is now also in Edgy, solves it: partman-lvm (41) unstable; urgency=low [ David Härdeman ] * Remove parted_names since its of no use for virtual filesystems (closes: #329765) [ Frans Pop ] * Major whitespace cleanup in scripts + some minor syntax changes. * Sync undo.d/lvm script with init.d/lvm; adds missing hack for RAID devices. * As setting flags on RAID devices does not work and causes errors from libparted, do not attempt to sync flags in case of LVM on RAID. Partman itself does not rely on the lvm flag, but uses the method instead. This is in line with existing hacks in init.d/lvm and undo.d/lvm. [Bug 52751] juk should be built with gstreamer output
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdemultimedia juk in the current kdemultimedia package offers only artsd and akode output in the Settings - Output To... menu. In previous releases, GStreamer was also offered. Unfortunately artsd is heavyweight, buggy, and not as usable as esd, and akode doesn't support esd output. I use esd to support remote-sound playback. GStreamer, however, does support esd via the esdsink (see http://taint.org/wk/RemotePlaybackWithEsd ), so I needed to get the gstreamer output plugin working again. On investigation, I found that this was easy to remedy; I simply ran sudo apt-get install libgstreamer-plugins0.8-dev libgstreamer0.8-dev libgstreamer0.10-dev libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-dev libgstreamer- gconf0.8-dev then reran configure and rebuilt juk from the kdemultimedia source pkg, and all was well. [Bug 47615] Re: Untranslated first menu item in ALL languages
gfxboot-theme-ubuntu (0.2.0) edgy; urgency=low * Use keymapchars from gfxboot (= 3.2.23-1) rather than our own. * Rename identifier for Install in text mode from txt_menuitem_install to txt_menuitem_install_text, to avoid clashing with Install to the hard disk (closes: Malone #47615). * Move theme to /usr/share/gfxboot-theme-ubuntu, in line with other gfxboot-theme-* packages. * Use dh_install. * Update scrape-localechooser for new languagelist format. * Update language names from localechooser 1.20ubuntu1, adding Dzongkha, Irish, Georgian, Khmer, Nepali, and Tamil. * Update keymaps from console-keymaps-at 20060609ubuntu1. -- Colin Watson [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed, 12 Jul 2006 13:52:21 +0100 ** Changed in: gfxboot-theme-ubuntu (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Colin Watson Status: Confirmed = Fix Released -- Untranslated first menu item in ALL languages https://launchpad.net/bugs/47615 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 52752] Kernel hangs during boot sequence since Revision 2.6.15-25 on Thinkpad T60
Public bug reported: Since Kernel revision 2.6.15-25 the boot sequence hangs after a few seconds on my Thinkpad T60. Kernel 2.6.15-23 works fine. Unfortunately, this is before any Kernellog or Syslog is beeing generated. On the last lines it is saying something about IRQ 169 and hangs. [Bug 52350] Ubuntu's hard-wired RunAsUser cupsys breaks CUPS authentication via nsswitch.conf + LDAP + PAM
Is your LDAP authentication working alright for other services? IMHO, your bug report should be renamed to a line like the heading of my own comment. Ubuntu cupsys 1.2.x packages are patched to retain the RunAsUser feature (which is now deprecated and removed -- for good reasons! -- by the original CUPS developers) in their distro, which makes cupsd run as user cupsys under all circumstances. (However, I assume this is just what Dapper inherited from Debian, and it is the same in Debian...). That creates all kinds of problems when users want to follow one of the standard HOWTOs floating around the 'net to set up a certain behaviour of their printing system. Things like the ones outlined by a recent posting of Mike Sweet on CUPS.org don't work as expected: - lpd backend printing towards older LPD servers which require source ports 721-731 (the CUPS option of appending ?reserve=yes will fail) (see also Ubuntu bug #47773) - automatic root authentication via certificates (Ubuntu bug #26964 ?) - proxy authentication support in 1.2.x (no Ubuntu bug report [yet]) - PAM-based local authentication (very likely the cause of your own Ubuntu problem, reported as this bug #52350) - support for legacy Unix clients via /etc/printcap or /etc/printers.conf (probably never a problem for Ubuntu -- but running as user completely breaks printing for all Gnome apps on Solaris 10, for example). - future Kerberos support (as is currently under development by a Google Summer of Code student) At least, the RunAsUser experiment in CUPS 1.1.x was a *configurable* parameter, controllable via a cupsd.conf directive. Now, what's the absolutely worst thing about the Ubuntu (and Debian as well ??) RunAsUser patch is that you can't set it back to RunAsUser No! You can't re-gain the full original functionality of CUPS, as it was designed by its original developers: The Ubuntu(/Debian?) RunAsUser thingie is non-configurable; it is *not* an option to be reversed by a user; it is simply hard-coded into their patched sources. You can't even work around it by by-passing the /etc/init.d/cupsys start script, and by starting /usr/sbin/cupsd directly as root from the commandline: cupsd will always run as the cupsys user... In effect, this is not only a patch, it is a fork of CUPS (OK, I'll add another IMHO to my last sentence...). -- nsswitch.conf + ldap brakes cupsys printing https://launchpad.net/bugs/52350 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 52756] Thunderbird crashes sometimes when moving emails to folders by using mouse
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird I do a large amount of manually moving emails from my inbox to created folders. Sometimes thunderbird simply closes and I am forced to re- start Thunderbird. Even though this does not happen all the time, I can re-create the error. I am not given an option to get a bug report from the computer. How do I get one, otherwise? So, I can post it here. I am using Thunderbird v.1.5.0.4 (20060615) taken from the Kubuntu repositories. I am using Kubuntu Dapper 6.06 with all the repositories active; I deleted the #'s. ** Affects: mozilla-thunderbird (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Thunderbird crashes sometimes when moving emails to folders by using mouse https://launchpad.net/bugs/52756 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
