[Bug 50979] Re: Icon Rendering in folders with a large number of files
Hey So sorry for the massive delay in my response. It's amazing how busy you can get, and how emails get lost. In answer to your question - no... I do not use ati hardware. However, I have since updated my dapper to edgy, the problem no longer occurs. It was probably just a chance package configuration that for some reason had the peculiar side-effect of rendering the folders as in the screenshot. It is quite unsettling that it happened, but, since I can no longer reproduce it, probably not important. Thankyou for your *prompt* and friendly response. [Bug 41964] Re: obexftp hangs when sending file to Sony Ericsson z520 over usb cable
if you're not going to ship the latest version of obexftp (my patch made it into 0.20, I believe) in Edgy, please consider applying this patch to 0.19. I tested the current edgy obexftp on my Dapper install (by adding an edgy deb-src to my sources.list ) and it still doesn't work with my phone. I then added the patch that can be found at http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=85776, which is an ever so slightly reworked version of my patch, and with that, obexftp works. [Bug 54281] Re: Malformed header files in libgstreamer0.10-dev
Stuff like: typedef enum { GST_EVENT_TYPE_UPSTREAM = 1 0, GST_EVENT_TYPE_DOWNSTREAM= 1 1, GST_EVENT_TYPE_SERIALIZED= 1 2, } GstEventTypeFlags; is there (in the dapper version of gstreamer, edgy doesn't have the last comma). This is allowed by the C99 standard at least but not by C89. I think the dapper version of gstreamer will still fail with latest CVS of gnash because they compile with -pendantic -ansi which forces and older standard than C99 and simply let it fail to build. Thus the gnash guys should either raise their gstreamer requirement to 0.10.9 (which doesn't have the additional comma) or don't add these strict specification to one C standard to their build process. -- Malformed header files in libgstreamer0.10-dev https://launchpad.net/bugs/54281 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hm. I can't confirm this. If you take a look at your perms, you'll see that it was cupsys:lp before, but something/somehow changed to root:lp. On a fresh Dapper install permissons are cupsys:lp and stay that way after cups restart. If everybody had perms root:lp, then we wouldn't be able to solve any cups bugs (since requierment for debuging are entrys from error_log). Could you add your cupsd.conf and check your system configuration? Also, it would be great if you could remeber what you've done on July 24. In Edgy which has a newer cupsys I don't have this permission problems and owner of error_log is cupsys. [Bug 6270] Re: no support for TV-Out
Hi, I had another go at this with a fully updated Dapper. Again I found that it prevented X from starting up with an error that no screens were found (or screens were found but none at the correct resolution). I will attach the Xorg.conf file that I used and the Xorg log that it produced. I tried with and without 915resolution installed and tried changing the resolution setting down to 640x480 before restarting. [Bug 41915] Re: nautilus-sendto crashes on startup - compiling fixes it
Daniel, the patch on your comment seems to fix this issue. I built Edgy's nautilus-sendto 0.7-2ubuntu3 for Dapper with that patch applied and no crashing anymore on first startup. I hope that patch could be backported for Dapper's nautilus-sendto 0.5 version too. It doesn't apply on Dappers version, and it seems that there's quite bit to do to get apply. -- nautilus-sendto crashes on startup - compiling fixes it https://launchpad.net/bugs/41915 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 32302] Re: Duplicate printers listed when adding HP printer
Ante wrote: In Edgy, detected HP printer apears only once. This is cause of newer HPLIP in Edgy. In Edgy it appears that the cups usb backend is not working anymore, resulting in only one printer entry in gnome-cups-manager from the hplip backend. Running the following command gives no output: $ /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb I seriously doubt this is caused by the newer HPLIP in Edgy, this looks more like a bug in cupsys. In attachment you find the output of command lpinfo -v which shows that CUPS only detects my printer with the hp backend on Edgy, the usb backend is not present. Perhaps this is a temporarly breakage since Edgy is still in heavy development. How can people with non HP printers configure their usb printers on Edgy? Therefore I think the 2 detected printer entries in gnome-cups-manager are necessary, but a user should be able to see a clear difference between similar entries and if a printer that works with the hplip backend is detected it should prefer this entry by selecting it by default. -- Duplicate printers listed when adding HP printer https://launchpad.net/bugs/32302 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Latest versions of xchat-gnome detect if libenchant is not installed and display a message: In order to get spell-checking, you need to have libenchant installed with at least one dictionary. [Bug 53355] Re: Firefox crashes when any dialog gets opened
This looks to be user-specific: - Created a new linux user. Logged in and started Firefox as that user, opened a file picker. No crash. - As my normal user, I still get the crash even after deleting ~/.gtk*, ~/.firefox and ~/.mozilla.
