[Bug 60708] Re: get libpthread assertion on multicore CPU
Hello Jeff, you don't need any special equipment for xvidcap. You might want to try current svn trunk, though, and do the usual ./autogen.sh debian/rules binary As for the platforms I've been talking about: Well, since the effect seemed different on various platforms we've tested some: AMD32 (Athlon XP) : works like a charm P4 3GHz (HT enabled with SMP kernel) : chrashes every so often (~1-2 times out of ten) AMD64 (Multicore CPU with SMP kernel : crashes (next to) every time My guess is that this is somehow related to higher CPU speeds and/or more fine-grained timings increasing the probability of this happening. Also, LinuxThreads or non-SMP seem to avoid this problem. I've read of a somewhat similar case (ages ago, though) where the error is due to individual threads !on different CPUs! getting a mutex at the same time. Dunno if this is the same here, too, though. Would upstart be able to own /etc/event.d/ttyS* - that is, remove any such files on purge? [Bug 41759] Re: Alien Glow effect crops too tightly
It's a workaround, but I would still consider this a bug. I was in fact toying with the idea of changing the code so it doesn't crop. I'm not a seasoned Scheme hacker but it doesn't seem too hard at all. (a) change the core function so it accepts an additional parameter nocrop. For backward compatibility reasons, make this negated (nocrop rather than, say, crop) and optional. Make the cropping code conditional: (when (not nocrop) (... do it ...) (b) correspondingly change the user-friendly functions so that the alpha effect never crops, and the regular one does, just like before. -- Alien Glow effect crops too tightly https://launchpad.net/bugs/41759 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 39744] Re: foomatic-db-gutenprint causes printer setup malfunctioning
Sadly, this bug needs to be reopened; I was testing a Dapper Live CD with a printer at a friend's house and noticed that it was present. I was able to duplicate the problem at home. To reproduce: Run the latest Ubuntu Dapper Live CD (6.06.1), add universe to sources.list, press reload in Synaptic, install foomatic-gui and run it from Terminal. You will get the double free or corruption error. Fortunately sudo foomatic-cleanupdrivers still works to fix matters, allowing foomatic-gui to then run normally, but having to cleanup the drivers means there's a problem with the package (still? a regression perhaps?). [Bug 61227] Gnome CPU frequency applet only controls cpu0
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets On my Intel Core2 Duo, I have CPU frequency scaling working fine. Both CPUs can have their frequency and governor changed separately (using /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu{0 or 1}/cpufreq/...). After creating two instances of the gnome CPU frequency applet (one per CPU), each displays the correct frequency, but both the instance for CPU0 and CPU1 control CPU0. That is, attempting to change the frequency of CPU1 changes the frequency of CPU0 and CPU1 remains the same. ** Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Gnome CPU frequency applet only controls cpu0 https://launchpad.net/bugs/61227 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 61228] inotify syscalls missing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-kernel-headers Hi, I tried to play with Inotify, but I was only able to find the /usr/include/linux/inotify.h file. This file does not contain the system calls which you can find at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/rml/inotify/headers/. Is it possible to include them into the kernel headers or are there other ways to get the syscall includes from the system? [Bug 61059] Re: I managed to perform the command: sudo apt-get install without being asked for a password
I assume that you get the same behaviour for other commands as well? (like 'sudo true', which does nothing, but is a nice way of checking for the password). Does it ask for a password again after you did 'sudo -k'? Can you please show me your /etc/sudoers by doing sudo cat /etc/sudoers and copypasting the result here?
