[Bug 53144] Re: exifautotran fails to transform exif thumbnails in images...

hostname:~$ apt-file search exifautotran
libjpeg-progs: usr/bin/exifautotran
libjpeg-progs: usr/share/man/man1/exifautotran.1.gz

Oops, looks like I reported and sent a patch for the wrong library, it
probably ought to be libjpeg-progs... I can't find libjpeg-progs though
on launchpad though, so I can't file a report on the correct package!?
Are only packages in main and restricted available for bug reports while
packages in universe and multiverse list their bugs elsewhere?

2006-10-11 Thread Jeff Greene
I think I figured out the problem. I tried downloading the themes from:
http://www.ffnn.nl/pages/projects/ubuntu-firefox-themes/download-install.php
It says that I need Firefox 1.5-1.6. What I think happened is that the themes
were kept when you upgraded even though the theme does not meet the
requirements. Try uninstalling the theme and reinstalling it and it should not
let you.

Thanks for your bug. The reason is that Ubuntu ships with firefox as the

maintain firefox and xulrunner. That would give extra work to the

[Bug 19743] Re: Hoary: Mouse scroll wheel changes the screen unexpectedly

2006-10-11 Thread Jeffry Johnston
I think this attitude shows where Gnome is heading. It's going to
become more and more like Windows, with no way out. I mean really.. how
hard would it have been to allow me to choose the old behavior. Isn't
Linux about choice? Or is Gnome anti-choice? I guess it is.. all sorts
of stuff changes with each release with no way to change it back.
Almost makes me want to fork it. Unfortunately, I have not spent the
time to learn GTK well enough to do it. BTW, get a decent file
browser.. let me type in a filename for crying out loud. I may be
ignorant of GTK, but the people making the big decisions here are truly
idiots.

Re: [Bug 64315] Re: Shared calender items disapear

2006-10-11 Thread viviersf
Hi

What happens is, when you use a network callender ( exchange in our case ),
you can see your own callender. Then when you go to file you can 'subscribe'
to another callender. When you use this callender you must mark it to be used
in the callender screen, which is a mission because it does not always want
to be enabled. Lets say that you got to this callender and you can see the
contents and want to create a appointment on the other callender, it gets
created successfully but it will always be marked to private. Since this is
not your callender and you are not the owner you cannot see the contents
untill the owner sets it as non-private etc.

[Bug 65001] Re: Fixed: Nautilus terminates itself when deleting a folder

2006-10-11 Thread foren-sniper
It is planned to be fixed in Nautilis 2.16.
I am not in the directory when I want to delete it. I am using the right mouse
click in the tree structure (left side tree, right side directory) to send the
fodler to trash. So...Nautilus is not only exiting when I delete the empty
directory while I am still in the folder.

[Bug 58418] Re: Creative ViBRA16X - CT4170 Not activated on new install

2006-10-11 Thread Krzysztof Lichota
Here are messages printed when I run manually modprobe snd_sb16. Options in
modprobe configuration file were:
options snd_sb16 port=0x240 irq=5 dma8=0 dma16=1 isapnp=0

The same message is printed when trying modprobe snd_sb16 isapnp=1.
When I run without setting modprobe options, message is similar, without first
line, i.e.:

[Bug 65244] ulimits not set accrding to /etc/security/limits.conf for root

2006-10-11 Thread Václav Šmilauer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libpam-modules

Hello, I am desperately trying to allow root big or unlimited coredumps.
I set * soft core 102400 and * hard core 102400 in
/etc/security/limits.conf to no avail, after root login over ssh, I
still get the stubborn answer # ulimit -c → 0. I don't know if this
is a bug in pam itself; it works OK for other users.

I also tried to add pam_limits.so to /etc/pam.d/common-session, nothing
happens. The same result when putting ulimit -c unlimited into
/etc/environment.

If this is not a bug in PAM but only my inability to find the right solution,
please consider it a documentation bug report. It prevent us from debugging
crashing gdm daemon (see

potential patch for the issue. The patch change the mod and group when a

The latter would be preferable IMHO. There's nothing to hide on an

do we want to change that now for edgy or after edgy?

It's straightforward and unintrusive, personally I'd like to see it in

I recovered the installation booting from RedHat enterprise cdrom and then

configuring grub and rebooting with hard-disk went fine.

If i recall the problem it is only with the 64bit version of the kernel.

A number of support requests and threads exist for this Audio hardware,
which Ubuntu 6.06 LTS does not seem to deal with at all. Most of the

I did try to get them to engage the bug system and put in reports

so after a few attempts at getting them to do so, I have done so myself.

Although I can't replicate the error, I'll confirm this based on the
valgrind and pass to Matthias. I've seen the same error in
libvclplug_gen680li.so with another recent bug. This might be related to
the other one where it appears that there is a linkage error. Matthias
will need to double-check the build and recompile. At that point you
(jbj) will need to retest. I'll let him make the call on the
relatedness. FYI: The original gdb trace does not seem to match with
the valgrind.

[Bug 65249] keyboard strokes registered repeatedly or not registered at all

2006-10-11 Thread Rostislav Raykov
Public bug reported:

Hello,
This bug is posted as a dapper bug and is reported to have been fixed. However
I have made a fresh install of Edgy Beta 1 on an Acer Aspire 3620 and the bug
is there. I have tried to do all of the proposed from the comments of bug
#39315, but to no avail.
Without any systematic behaviour, totally on random time, my laptop keyboard
starts to behave oddly. The keypresses never get registered by the system or
some key is registered as continuously pressed and starts without control to
repeat itself like crazy. Like the key is stuck, and it can't be stopped by
pressing it.
I have noticed that the continuous press or the lack or response from the keys
can be ignored somehow if i move the cursor through the touchpad of the laptop.
While I use the touchpad with one hand I can use the keyboard normally with the
other.
This behaviour of the keyboard will somehow stop after a few minutes (not a
specific time interval, everytime it's different) and then I can use it
normally again.

 Status: Unconfirmed

[Bug 65085] Re: QuickStart Menu items show wrong number of apps

2006-10-11 Thread Tomasz Czapiewski
I can't replicate this bug on Edgy. The number of most frequently used apps is
ok here.
I didn't try that on Dapper yet.

[Bug 65250] Kubuntu Edgy doesn't mount floppy disks

2006-10-11 Thread Alberto Milone
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdelibs

If I insert a floppy disk and press the Floppy disk icon nothing
happens.

I have to right click on the icon and select Mount instead (and
Unmount to unmount it).

This problem affects Kubuntu Edgy 6.10 and KDE 3.5.5 (I didn't try to
mount a floppy in 3.5.4 though)

[Bug 65251] work without nautilus

2006-10-11 Thread Jani Monoses
Public bug reported:

this patch was added in the 0.82 package upload but not to bzr so it was
undone with the latest sync. Now posting it here so it sticks. It makes
folder opening fall back to thunar if nautilus is not available so it
runs on xubuntu.

This looks very nice, now only follow what the last line of the log is
telling you:

...read foo2zjs installation instructions and run ./getweb 1020

so that you get the firmware file from HP's site to your computer.
